Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Reaper’s Arrival
---
1. A Warning in Blood
Seoul was drowning in blood again.
The streets that had been quiet for weeks were now filled with chaos. The fragile peace Do-yun had built was shattered overnight.
Jinwoo and Hye-jin drove through the city, the distant sound of sirens piercing the night air. The car's headlights illuminated the bodies left on the pavement—gangsters, civilians, anyone caught in the crossfire.
Hye-jin's hands tightened around the wheel. "This isn't a takeover—it's an execution."
Jinwoo remained silent, his jaw clenched.
Kyung-min wasn't just coming for the throne. He was sending a message.
Hye-jin glanced at him. "Still think you can stay out of this?"
Jinwoo exhaled sharply. "Where's Do-yun?"
"He's holed up in the Phoenix stronghold. But he won't last long. Kyung-min is wiping out entire crews. He doesn't recruit—he eliminates."
Jinwoo's fists tightened.
"Then we get to Do-yun first."

2. The Fortress Under Siege
By the time they reached the Phoenix Brotherhood's hideout, it was already under attack.
Gunfire echoed through the night as masked mercenaries stormed the compound. The scent of gunpowder filled the air, and bodies littered the entrance.
Jinwoo didn't hesitate.
He grabbed a gun from the car, kicked open the door, and dived into the fray.
Bullets flew past him as he weaved through the chaos, his movements precise, deadly.
One man lunged at him with a knife—Jinwoo sidestepped, grabbed his wrist, and snapped it before driving the blade into his throat.
Another attacker raised a gun—Jinwoo rolled, grabbed a fallen rifle, and put two bullets in his chest.
Hye-jin covered him from behind, her pistol taking down enemies with deadly accuracy.
By the time they reached the main hall, only the wounded remained.
Jinwoo kicked open the door.
Do-yun sat in the center of the room, covered in blood. Surrounded.
At least ten men stood around him, guns aimed.
And in the middle of it all…
Choi Kyung-min.

3. Face to Face with the Reaper
Kyung-min was nothing like his brother.
Where Tae-sung had been a calculated monster, Kyung-min was pure chaos. His eyes gleamed with a sick amusement as he twirled a knife between his fingers.
"Jinwoo," he said, his voice smooth. "I was wondering when you'd show up."
Jinwoo didn't answer. His eyes were on Do-yun, who was barely conscious.
Kyung-min smirked. "You left the throne, and look what happened. Seoul is mine now. You should have stayed hidden."
Jinwoo's grip on his gun tightened. "Let him go."
Kyung-min laughed. "Or what? You'll kill me?" He gestured to the men around him. "I could kill Do-yun right now, and you wouldn't make it two steps before my men put you down."
Jinwoo's heart pounded. He was fast. He could take them. But Do-yun wouldn't survive.
Kyung-min stepped closer. "I'm not here for a fight, Jinwoo. Not yet."
Jinwoo narrowed his eyes. "Then what do you want?"
Kyung-min grinned. "I want you to suffer."
In one swift motion, he slashed Do-yun's chest.
Jinwoo moved— too late.
Do-yun gasped, blood spilling onto the floor.
Kyung-min stepped back, licking the blood from his blade. "Consider that a warning."
Jinwoo lunged—
A gunshot rang out.
Pain exploded in his shoulder as one of Kyung-min's men shot him.
He hit the ground, gritting his teeth.
Kyung-min chuckled. "See you soon, King of the Streets."
And then he was gone.
---
4. A War is Coming
Jinwoo sat beside Do-yun's hospital bed, his mind racing.
Do-yun was alive, but barely. The doctors said he would survive—but he wouldn't fight again.
Hye-jin sat across from him. "Kyung-min isn't just taking over. He's making a statement."
Jinwoo exhaled. "He wants me to break before he kills me."
Hye-jin leaned forward. "So what are we going to do about it?"
Jinwoo's gaze darkened.
"If Kyung-min wants a war…"
He stood up.
"Then let's give him one."
