Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The New King
---
1. The Throne of Seoul
Jinwoo stood on the rooftop of the Black Dragon Syndicate's fortress, staring down at the city that now belonged to him.
The neon lights flickered in the distance, painting the skyline in shades of red and blue. The streets below were eerily quiet—the war was over.
His men, the Phoenix Brotherhood, were victorious. Tae-sung was dead. The Black Dragons had either surrendered or fled.
Jinwoo had won.
So why did it feel so empty?
Do-yun stepped beside him, his wounds still fresh. "Everyone's waiting for you downstairs. They want to know what happens next."
Jinwoo exhaled. "What happens next?"
"You're the King of Seoul now," Do-yun said, watching him carefully.
Jinwoo clenched his fists. "That's the problem."
Hye-jin leaned against the railing, watching Jinwoo with knowing eyes. "You never wanted the throne, did you?"
Jinwoo didn't answer.
The truth was, he had spent years seeking revenge. Tae-sung had taken everything from him—his crew, his honor, his family. And now that vengeance was his...
What was left?
Do-yun sighed. "If you don't take control, someone else will."
Jinwoo turned, his gaze sharp. "Then let them."
The room fell silent.
Hye-jin arched an eyebrow. "You're really going to just walk away?"
Jinwoo looked at her. "If I stay, I become exactly what Tae-sung said I would. Just another monster in a never-ending cycle."
Do-yun shifted. "So what now?"
Jinwoo looked out over the city one last time.
"Now… I disappear."

2. A Ghost in the Wind
Two weeks later, Seoul had a new king.
Do-yun stepped into the power vacuum, taking control of what remained of the Black Dragons and merging them with the Phoenix Brotherhood. Under his leadership, the gangs didn't collapse into chaos—instead, they thrived.
He ruled with logic, not fear. But Jinwoo was nowhere to be found.
Rumors spread.
Some said he was dead, lost in the bloodshed of that final battle.
Others whispered that he had gone underground, preparing for his next move.
Only Hye-jin knew the truth.

3. The Quiet Life
Jinwoo sat in a small café in Busan, the sea breeze drifting in through the open window.
He sipped his coffee, watching the people go about their lives. No gang wars, no bloodshed—just normalcy.
For the first time in years, he felt free.
But even here, he could never truly escape.
A voice cut through the quiet.
"You really thought you could just disappear?"
Jinwoo didn't turn. "You should have left me alone, Hye-jin."
She slid into the seat across from him, smirking. "Come on, did you really think I wouldn't find you?"
Jinwoo sighed. "What do you want?"
Hye-jin leaned forward, her gaze serious. "Do-yun is doing fine, but there's a problem."
Jinwoo frowned. "What kind of problem?"
She pulled out her phone and placed it on the table. The screen showed a news article.
"Mystery Kingpin Declares War on Seoul's Underworld – 'The Reaper' Arrives"
Jinwoo's grip tightened on his cup.
"Who the hell is 'The Reaper'?" he asked.
Hye-jin's expression darkened. "Tae-sung's brother."
Jinwoo's eyes widened.
Tae-sung had a brother?
"His name is Choi Kyung-min," Hye-jin continued. "And he's worse than Tae-sung ever was."
Jinwoo leaned back, exhaling. "Let Do-yun handle it."
Hye-jin shook her head. "Kyung-min isn't just going after the gangs. He's going after everyone who had a hand in taking down Tae-sung. That includes Do-yun. That includes me."
Jinwoo clenched his jaw.
Hye-jin's voice softened. "Jinwoo… he won't stop until every last one of us is dead."
Silence.
Jinwoo stared at the coffee in front of him, his heart pounding.
He had walked away from this life. He had found peace.
But peace never lasted long.
Hye-jin leaned forward. "Come back. If not for us, then for yourself. You're not the kind of man who hides."
Jinwoo sighed.
He had sworn he was done.
But some wars never truly end.
He pushed his chair back and stood up.
"Where do we start?"
Hye-jin smiled. "Now that's the Jinwoo I know."
And just like that, the Street King was back.
