Dynamaxing, simply put, is a phenomenon where Pokémon grow to an enormous size for a limited time, and their moves transform into Max Moves. Some special Pokémon even have unique Gigantamax forms, granting them exclusive G-Max moves.

This phenomenon only occurs in areas with Galar's unique Dynamax energy, meaning it is an exclusive battle system of the Galar region.

Seeing the Scolipede in its Dynamax form confirmed to Su Yi that he was indeed in Galar.

"Whoa?!" The sudden enlargement of the opponent left Kulu-Ya-Ku in a panic.

"What's that, meow? It suddenly became bigger than a giant monster, meow!" Rucao gazed up, dumbfounded.

"Dynamaxing... something common in the games, but witnessing it firsthand in reality is truly overwhelming."

The massive Scolipede looming in the dim surroundings gave Su Yi a strong sense of oppression. Apart from those super-sized elder dragons, only a handful of large monsters in the Monster Hunter world could rival this size.

"Fight or retreat?" Su Yi hesitated.

Dynamaxing doesn't last long, but Max Moves are nearly impossible to dodge since they cover a vast area upon activation, meaning they have to be endured.

The best strategy now would be to retreat, wait out the Dynamax duration, then return to defeat it.

However, this was Kulu-Ya-Ku's first battle, just like Great Jagras's first battle. If Su Yi could command it well, he could establish initial trust, making it easier to lead these wild creatures in the future.

But if he fled in their first fight, his companions might feel dissatisfied.

Noticing Su Yi's surprised expression, Leon removed his Dynamax Band and tossed it over.

"Thanks!" Su Yi snapped back to reality, grinned, and raised his grappling hook device, shooting it out to snatch the Dynamax Band mid-air.

"Oh? That's an interesting piece of gear," Leon remarked, intrigued by Su Yi's device.

"So this is a Dynamax Band..." Su Yi quickly put it on. This was the key tool for Trainers to trigger Dynamaxing.

"Do you know how to use it, Trainer?" Leon called out.

Su Yi responded with a thumbs-up.

"I've been waiting for the chance to try this kind of battle!"

"Kulu-Ya-Ku, ready to get bigger?" Su Yi grinned.

"Squawk!" Kulu-Ya-Ku chirped in anticipation.

"Then let's continue the battle!"

Su Yi recalled Kulu-Ya-Ku into its Poké Ball and gripped it tightly. Dark red energy from the Dynamax Band surged into the ball, causing it to grow larger while radiating a red-and-white glow.

"Let's go! Our first Dynamax battle begins now!"

Su Yi hurled the enlarged Poké Ball with all his strength.

With a loud boom, Kulu-Ya-Ku, now enveloped in crimson energy, emerged and continued to grow until it matched the size of Dynamax Centiskorch.

"Squawk!"

Kulu-Ya-Ku let out an excited cry, fascinated by its newfound size.

"Kulu-Ya-Ku grew bigger, meow!" Rucao cheered, dancing around.

Dynamax Kulu-Ya-Ku?

The Legendary Kulu-Ya-Ku has arrived!

"Roar!" Scolipede, seeing its opponent also Dynamax, launched the first attack.

Max Ooze!

The ground trembled as dark purple toxic fluid erupted, forming a swirling vortex of poison energy that engulfed Kulu-Ya-Ku. At the same time, the attack boosted Scolipede's special attack.

Kulu-Ya-Ku staggered in the poisonous vortex, its skin corroded with visible wounds.

"Hit back hard, Kulu-Ya-Ku! Use Max Rockfall!" Su Yi commanded.

"Squawk!"

Shaking off the discomfort from the poison, Kulu-Ya-Ku dug its sharp claws into the ground and lifted a massive rock slab, hurling it at Scolipede.

Boom! The rock crashed down like a collapsing skyscraper, causing debris to scatter as a sandstorm stirred in the air.

It's super effective!

Scolipede wobbled, screeching in pain.

It let out a defiant cry as glowing yellow energy gathered around it, forming countless bug-like entities that swarmed toward Kulu-Ya-Ku.

Su Yi's eyes sharpened. "Kulu-Ya-Ku, use Max Airstream to blow them back!"

"Squawk!"

Kulu-Ya-Ku flapped its arms, generating a powerful whirlwind infused with Flying-type energy. The storm spiraled forward, clashing with the Max Flutterby attack.

"Oh? Not a bad tactic. Will it work?"

Watching from Charizard's back, Leon's eyes gleamed with interest, a smile of anticipation forming on his lips.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Winds roared, insects buzzed—both energies clashed violently.

Scolipede, already at a disadvantage in stamina, was the first to falter.

"Now's our chance! Kulu-Ya-Ku, give it everything you've got!" Su Yi clenched his fist and shouted.

"Squawk!"

Gathering all its strength, Kulu-Ya-Ku intensified its Max Airstream, completely overwhelming the Max Flutterby and pushing forward.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Scolipede was struck head-on, caught in the remnants of the dissipating Max Flutterby before being entirely consumed by the Max Airstream.

Eventually, the Dynamax energy faded, and Scolipede shrank back to its normal size before collapsing in defeat.

The battle was over. Kulu-Ya-Ku also returned to its original size as the dark red sky vanished, restoring the land and sky to their natural colors.

"We won, meow!" Rucao cheered.

"Victory! Well done, Kulu-Ya-Ku!"

Su Yi rushed forward, wrapping his arms around Kulu-Ya-Ku's neck, showering it with praise.

Kulu-Ya-Ku hugged him back with its claws, chirping excitedly. This battle had given it a thrill and made it begin to recognize Su Yi as its Trainer.

"From now on, I'll be counting on you all." Su Yi clenched his fist and extended a hand.

"Squawk?"

Kulu-Ya-Ku tilted its head before happily raising its claw to bump fists with him.

"You two have a great bond."

Leon landed Charizard and jumped off, clapping lightly.

Su Yi removed the Dynamax Band and offered it back. "I owe this victory and my newfound trust with Kulu-Ya-Ku to you, Champion Leon."

Leon reattached his Dynamax Band, smiling. "I only gave a small push. Seeing such a fantastic battle was a pleasure."
