Chapter 7: A tearful goodbye
The next day, I woke up seeing Zoro sitting on my bed. "Morning. Did you sleep well?" He spotted Luffy peeking. "DO YOU MIND?!" He picked a chair and chucked it at the strange kid.
I struggled to sit up. "I see, you healed up rather quickly."
Luffy laughed. "You missed me Zoro."
"YOU PEP AT MY PRETTY KITTY AGAIN AND I'LL CUT YOU," Zoro yelled at him before slamming the door in his face. He came back over to me. "Are you sure you want to follow that manake?"
I smiled standing up. "Well, he might be strange and have an odd behavior, but there's something about him that is just positive."
Zoro nodded. "I guess so. I just don't trust him. He said he's a pirate yet he doesn't have a ship of any kind. He wants us to join him on some hellish journey."
"Zoro?"
"Yeah?"
I blushed. "Do you think you could step outside while I get dressed."
He smirked. "Nervous that I might do something?" He kissed me and headed out of the room to give me privacy.
Luffy ran up to him still smiling. "So, are you both gonna join me? He seems hell bent on having both of us joining.
A few hours later, I joined both of them in the main room. I was dressed in a blue skirt and a tie-dyed short sleeve shirt. "So, what do you think?"
Alys came running over with a bag of food for me. "You look amazing Kat. Here's some food for your journey wherever you ok." She started tearing up. "I wish I could go with you."
I placed a hand on the top of her head. "Alys, your place is here at the inn. I promise to come back and visit. You can count on it."
She smiled and started crying laughing. "Yeah. I'll be waiting."
After leaving the inn with Zoro and Luffy waving a tearful goodbye at Alys and her father. We headed back to my house to say goodbye to my parents. "Well this is it." I opened the door. "Father, mother? I'm home?"
My father came over and smiled. "Katherine, what's going on?" He stopped and looked at Zoro. "Well, the hero has come to say goodbye. Finally, he's going to sweep my baby girl off her feet."
Zoro chuckled and smiled. "I've already done that. I came by to make good on my promise to you, William."
My father smiled and nodded. "I had a feeling that this would happen. You've already earned my response, Zoro. If leaving is something you both want to do, then wait here." He disappeared, then came back with a small box. He handed Zoro a long, either a bracelet or a necklace shaped box. "You have to promise me, you'll keep her safe."
Zoro smiled. "You can count on that. She'll be in safe hands."
My mother came over to where Luffy, Zoro, and I were standing. "Oh, Kat. You've grown so up. To think you're about to start a life of your own."
I blushed. "Mother, stop it."
