Watching V carry a lot of things down the stairs, Alex Carter stepped forward to help.

But V turned sideways and walked right past Alex.

"There's more upstairs, go get it yourself."

After saying this, she continued past Alex and tossed the items outside.

Alex looked bewildered and helpless.

What was going on?

Twenty minutes ago, V was ready to rush to his aid against the Voodoo Boys, and now she was acting like a stranger.

Even Alex, who usually prided himself on understanding people, was a bit confused.

They say a woman's heart is like the sea, unfathomable.

The ancients didn't lie!

Facing Alex's pleading look, Jack's eyes were equally blank.

He hadn't noticed anything strange about V just a moment ago.

Why did it feel like something was off now?

No matter, he thought. Misty, his own sister, was gentle, kind, and understanding.

Alex, you're on your own here.

In desperation, Alex bit the bullet and went upstairs to move things.

However, when he came back down, Jack was nowhere to be seen.

"V, where's Jack?"

"Misty needed him for something, so he left," V informed him, before heading back upstairs.

In one afternoon, with the help of AI, they managed to clear the villa of Dexter's shadow.

And they found quite a few valuable items in the villa.

Military-grade firearms, rare collectibles, nearly a million eurodollars in cash, fine wines... the list went on.

"I've already brought your stuff down."

"Thunk."

V casually dropped a huge luggage bag beside the sofa, then sat down and poured two glasses of wine.

Looking at the luggage on the ground, Alex was even more confused.

What was going on, and why was she packing his things?

He even packed his own stuff.

Wait a second... how much stuff did he even have?

Wasn't it just a few clothes and some toiletries he bought temporarily?

Before Alex could figure out what was happening, a glass of wine was handed to him.

"Cheers, to celebrate you settling in Night City."

"Clink..."

She clinked her glass against his and downed the wine in one gulp.

Alex, feeling a bit pressured, took a sip from his own glass.

Immediately, a strong smell of alcohol hit his nostrils.

Wow, vodka!

What was this girl up to?

...

While V and Alex were having a drink, Jack, on the other hand, was feeling worried about his brother's "safety" after leaving the villa.

Midway through his task, V had chased him out.

Who knew what would happen if Alex and V were left alone?

"No, I need to get some advice quickly."

Muttering to himself, Jack made a call to "Professional" Misty.

"Jack? I'm afraid I can't make it out this late," Misty's smiling face appeared on the screen.

"Ha, of course, I know, Chica. I'm calling to ask you something."

"Go ahead, I'm listening."

Jack rubbed his hands and asked, "Has V contacted you recently?"

Misty thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "Yes, she called me this morning."

"Did you notice anything off about her? I mean... in terms of her mood," Jack asked.

"She did seem a bit strange," Misty hesitated and said, "She seemed a little conflicted."

"She even asked me for a divination."

"And what did it say?"

"I gave her advice. The fog of the future may not have cleared, but the lighthouse has been erected. Only by being the first to climb the lighthouse can you truly embrace the light."

"Uh..." Jack scratched his head, "What does that mean?"

Misty shook her head: "I don't know either. I just told V the result of the divination."

"What it truly means, I suppose only she knows."

"Ah, that's it, then. Thanks anyway." Jack hung up the phone regretfully.

Looking in the direction of the villa, he sighed softly: "Alex, my brother, I can't do much for you here. Good luck."

...

"Keep drinking! Why haven't you... are you drunk?"

With a flushed face, V refilled Alex's and her own glass.

There were already three or four empty bottles lying on the ground, and Alex grinned secretly.

This was vodka.

Sister, are you treating this like it's the end of the world with how you're drinking?

Seeing that V was still relentless, Alex quickly controlled the virus to make his face flush with color.

"Drunk... I'm drunk, I can't... drink anymore."

"Lightweight!"

Pretending to be too drunk, Alex quickly lay down on the sofa.

"You got here... pretty quickly." V shook her head and didn't drink the next glass she had poured.

"I'm going to the bathroom."

With that, she staggered toward the bathroom.

And Alex didn't think much of it.

Taking advantage of V's absence, he quickly got up and went to the luggage bag.

He wanted to see what V had packed for him that required such a large bag.

He gently opened the bag...

"What is this? Wait, underwear?"

Alex stared at the women's underwear in the bag, stunned, unsure of how to react.

Why would V put several sets of women's underwear in his bag?

With doubts, Alex continued to look.

V's clothes? He thought he recognized them.

Did she pack magazines too?

But the more he looked, the more wrong it felt.

It seemed like... the luggage in this bag didn't belong to him but to V?

Could she have packed the wrong bag in a hurry?

"Click."

Just as Alex was puzzling over this, he heard the sound of V opening the bathroom door.

He quickly zipped up the bag and lay back down.

V's face was still damp, and after washing her face, she seemed much more awake.

Looking at Alex, who seemed to be asleep on the sofa, V hesitated for a moment and finally took a deep breath and walked toward him...
