V gently walked over to the sofa where Alex Carter was lying, squatted down, and looked at him carefully.

They were so close that Alex could almost feel the faint aroma of alcohol that V exhaled.

"This doesn't seem right! Something's up!"

Although he wasn't a veteran in matters of love, Alex, who wasn't inexperienced either, keenly sensed a trace of ambiguity in the air.

Even Johnny's voice echoed in his mind.

"Kid, it looks like good things are coming your way. I'll take my leave; don't mess it up."

Alex nodded secretly, but he also had some doubts.

What was going on with V today?

First, she was inexplicably angry and seemed to kick him out.

Then, she was inexplicably drunk...

Are all the women in Night City this unpredictable?

Alex was pondering this when he suddenly felt V's hand lightly rest on his face.

Then there was an unimaginable tenderness on his lips.

Done!

Kissed for the second time!

If Alex could still hold back, after hearing the rustling of familiar clothes, he couldn't bear it any longer.

He opened his eyes abruptly, meeting V's gaze, which was close and without fear.

"Alex, you..."

V was stunned for a moment, and then her cheeks, already flushed with alcohol, turned even redder.

Realizing what she was doing, she quickly picked up the clothes she had just taken off and turned to hide her face and run away.

However, her speed couldn't compare to Alex's.

Alex got up and, with a stride, held V, who was about to escape, in his arms.

"Where do you think you're going? Once you've made a decision, don't back out."

With that, Alex pulled V's cheek and kissed her deeply...

...

...

Late at night.

"Phew..."

Leaning on the head of the bed in the bedroom, with V in his arms, Alex breathed a sigh of relief.

It was only now that he realized.

V's plan was indeed for him to move out, but she would follow.

And those belongings were indeed his, but hers were also inside.

Including drinking his own wine, and then everything else...

All of this was already planned by V.

Alex turned V's pretty face toward him and couldn't help asking:

"Come on, explain why this surprise came so suddenly?"

"Move your hand away!" V playfully slapped Alex's hand in annoyance, then explained with a look of disdain:

"I just thought you seemed pretty nice, so..."

"You're not such a casual person." Alex looked at V with a knowing smile.

The girl he knew, although careful and sometimes unclear, understood essential things well.

"Hmph..."

V, whose facade was pierced, blushed.

After hesitating for a long time, she finally asked, "Alex, why did you suddenly appear in our room in the first place?"

"The time at the Arasaka Building?"

"Uh-huh."

Alex smiled wryly.

That wasn't something he could decide.

But looking back now, the Arasaka Building was definitely one of the best entry points.

Even if he were given another chance to choose now, he'd still choose there.

"Fate dictates."

"Then why did you choose to help Jack and me? You said you know me well. Did we know each other before?" V looked straight at Alex.

She seemed to be trying to get an answer from his face.

Alex thought for a while and replied, "I know you. I've been watching you from a bystander's perspective for a long time."

"From discovering what you helped Jack smuggle from Arasaka to the time you rescued Sandra Dorset from the scavengers."

"You know all of this!?" V frowned and asked, "Then what is your purpose for following us for so long?"

"It's not as simple as just wanting to sleep with me, right?"

As she spoke, V moved to the side, putting some distance between herself and Alex.

"Pfft..." Seeing V suddenly become so wary, Alex couldn't help laughing out loud.

It's said that after a woman loses something, she becomes sensitive and worries about gaining and losing.

That's true.

"Why are you laughing?"

Seeing Alex's smile, V's brows furrowed even deeper.

If it wasn't inconvenient for her now, she would have turned over and gotten out of bed long ago.

Ignoring V's struggles, Alex took her into his arms again and explained, "Think about it. What would I gain from just you and Jack?"

"..."

Although his words were a bit blunt, V's expression eased considerably.

To be honest, she and Jack, although not very popular in the mercenary circle, were definitely not particularly famous.

There were many stronger than them in Night City.

Plus, they were quite poor.

But as Alex said, there wasn't much to gain.

Feeling V was no longer struggling, Alex's hands began to wander again.

"That's why I appeared at the Arasaka Building, and I chose to help you because I like you."

"Like me? Huh... Did you say the same to Panam? And..."

V slapped Alex's hand away: "Is that how you show you like someone?"

Alex chuckled.

Clearly, the serious talk was over, and things were about to start.

Naturally, he couldn't resist this situation.

"No, no, there's a deeper way to show affection. Come on, let me show you again."

"Get lost~"
