Alex Carter emerged from the underground facility without any pressure and reached the chapel.
Placide, fully armed and holding a shotgun, was already waiting there.
As soon as Alex stepped out, Placide pulled the trigger without hesitation.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two shots rang out, and dozens of metal projectiles turned into a torrent of metal, rushing toward Alex.
Just as the projectiles were about to hit him, a pitch-black giant shield suddenly appeared.
"Clink, clink, clink..."
Sparks flew.
The metal projectiles, with their powerful kinetic energy, were deflected in all directions by the hard giant shield.
Coincidentally, two of the projectiles were bounced back in Placide's direction.
"Thunk, thunk."
"Ah!"
With a scream, two blood blossoms bloomed on Placide's thighs and shoulders.
In pain, he raised the shotgun again, his eyes red with fury.
However, before he could react, Alex was already upon him.
"Crack...crunch..."
With a harsh grinding sound, the shotgun, crafted from alloy, was crushed into a piece of scrap metal by Alex!
"You..." Placide looked at the scene before him in horror.
Then he reacted, subconsciously throwing a punch...
"Thud."
A muffled sound.
Alex caught Placide's fist, which was the size of a small boulder, with one hand, firmly.
He looked at Placide playfully and said, "Couldn't hurt me with a gun, so you choose to punch?"
"I'm just curious, what were you thinking?"
"Brain made of muscle?"
As the words fell, Alex exerted a little more force...
"Ahh! Let go... ahh!"
With a sharp crunch, Placide's right hand was crushed by Alex!
"I'm going to... kill..."
"Shing..."
The flash of a knife completely cut off Placide's words.
Watching Placide's head fall to the ground, Alex snorted coldly and walked out of the chapel.
Simultaneously, he used the system to anonymously contact the Armed Defense Bureau and the NetWatch agent, sending them the location of the Voodoo Boys' hideout.
Although he didn't expect them to completely eradicate the Voodoo Boys from the undeveloped region of Pacifica, this blow would be enough to remove them from the ranks of super gangs in Night City.
As for the remaining small fry, he didn't have the time or inclination to clean them up one by one.
After leaving the Voodoo Boys, Alex found a spot by the sea and sat down.
"Johnny, I think we need to have a serious talk."
Sensing Alex's thoughts, Johnny's figure appeared next to him.
"It's rare for you to seek me out. What is it? Want to ask me for tips on picking up girls?"
"Tips? What, are you going to tell me how to make your ex-girlfriend want to talk to you?" Alex looked at Johnny with an amused expression.
When Alt was about to leave, Johnny had wanted to chat with her alone.
But she had outright refused.
A rather miserable situation, to say the least.
"Damn! If you stop bringing that up, we might actually have a conversation," Johnny cursed angrily.
Alex sighed and tried to comfort him: "The current Alt only retains the appearance and code of the Alt you knew."
"After so many years of accumulating data, she has completely lost the personality and emotions a human should have."
"I know, I'm just not ready to accept it," Johnny sighed, looking out at the vast Pacific Ocean.
Alex shook his head slightly, saying nothing.
Johnny, this proud guy, although he always talked about "just wanting to sleep around," still had feelings for Alt and Rogue.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have risked his life to save Alt, who was trapped in Arasaka's subnet, after planting the bomb in Arasaka Tower.
"Alright, we can discuss Alt's situation later. Let's focus on the main issue," Alex said seriously.
"Alright, I'm curious about what serious topic you have for me, considering you're always full of nonsense," Johnny chuckled.
Alex didn't mind and continued earnestly: "You know, our meeting with Alt was to destroy the Oracle."
"And the source file of your consciousness data is still stored in the Oracle."
"Once the Oracle is destroyed, you have only two options."
"Heh..." Johnny chuckled softly: "I doubt what you're about to say involves a happy ending."
Alex nodded: "Either you become completely assimilated into Alt, or you disappear entirely, leaving not even a trace of data."
"That's quite the grim outlook," Johnny shook his head and smiled, but there was no special emotion on his face.
Alex looked into the eyes behind his sunglasses and asked solemnly:
"Don't you want to live?"
