Brigitte walked over to Alex Carter, glanced at him indifferently, and said, "So you survived."

"Heh... Or rather, I survived once again," Alex sneered.

Brigitte frowned: "What do you mean?"

Alex didn't bother to answer her directly, instead asking sarcastically, "What's wrong? Didn't you fool Alt? Did the plan fail?"

"How dare you lecture me?"

Brigitte's face turned cold.

No one likes being mocked in this manner.

However, while others might fear her, Alex did not.

He stared into Brigitte's eyes, smiling, "You'd better explain to me that other 'pawns' aren't as troublesome as I am, right?"

"Enough!"

A dangerous glint appeared in Brigitte's eyes.

She spoke in a cold tone: "Alt might protect you beyond the Blackwall, but this is my territory!"

"Oh? Is it?"

In the next second, Alex's smile remained unchanged, but a flash of a blade appeared.

"Thunk!"

The sharp blade, under Brigitte's horrified gaze, pierced into her abdomen without hindrance.

"You..."

Brigitte looked at Alex in disbelief.

In her own lair, he dared to attack her?

Although most hackers aren't as physically formidable as mercenaries, their powerful hacking techniques mean that no matter how strong a mercenary is, they must consider whether their brain will be melted away!

Could the man in front of her be a cyberpsycho?

"Leader!"

"Quick, hack this person!"

"I'm going to inform Placide."

"This man is dead; he'll never escape the Voodoo Boys!"

...

The Voodoo Boys who had realized the situation sprang into action.

Some drew their defensive weapons and aimed at Alex.

Others prepared to upload malware.

And the interface on Alex's side began flashing intrusion warnings.

"PartyTime!"

Alex grinned as the Blacklight Virus in his body went wild!

In an instant, a jet-black streamlined shell enveloped him completely.

Simultaneously, the biomass that could block signals covered all prosthetics.

"Bang bang bang..."

"Ratatatat..."

The cacophony of gunfire rang out as Alex drew his blade and turned into a shadow, weaving through the hail of bullets.

"Clink clink clink..."

A rain of sparks flickered on the Blacklight Armor as small-caliber pistol rounds were easily deflected.

The bullets from kinetic energy submachine guns only left white marks.

Even a large-caliber kinetic energy rifle only made small dents in the armor.

The next instant, these minor damages were completely repaired.

In the face of the deadly mass shooting, Alex moved with the grace of the wind and the solidity of a mountain.

Each swing of his long blade claimed the life of at least one Voodoo Boy member.

Soon, the gunfire in the underground facility ceased.

In just two minutes, dozens of Voodoo Boys were wiped out.

All that remained were bullet casings and corpses.

Swish...

The armor softened and retracted into his body.

With a knife in one hand, Alex slowly walked over to Brigitte, who was sitting on the ground, blue light flashing in her eyes as she still attempted to hack him.

"Don't you understand? I have completely blocked your signal."

"Impossible! This is absolutely impossible! What are you?!" Brigitte looked desperate.

When she was in cyberspace, she could clearly see Alex's prosthetic information.

This mercenary had only a basic operating system and three prosthetics.

Though these three prosthetics were top-notch, they were mainly for auxiliary combat, not for exerting such strong combat power.

That's why she had dared to speak to Alex the way she did earlier.

But what was that shell that bullets couldn't penetrate?

And why couldn't she connect to his personal network?

Why was she encountering something theoretically impossible?

Alex sneered and crouched down.

"In everything, don't trust computers too much. Nature's creations are always more subtle and incredible than human inventions."

As he spoke, black and red flesh and blood tentacles extended from him, reaching toward Brigitte.

"Though you're rather disagreeable, the hacking knowledge in your head is what I need."

"So, I'll reluctantly... consume you!"

"No! Monster! Monst—"

In the basement setting, Brigitte's screams abruptly ended.

The Blacklight Virus, now satiated, retracted quickly into Alex's body.

"Hiccup... the taste of knowledge."

Alex smacked his lips in satisfaction.

Johnny appeared, arms crossed, and couldn't help but sigh: "I really don't know if you're human anymore."

Alex shrugged: "What's the difference between us?"

"From the moment we put machinery or something else into our bodies, we're no longer human in the true sense."

Johnny remained silent for a moment, then nodded.

"Even though you're always spouting nonsense, sometimes you have to admit it."

"Your words do make sense."

Alex stood up and wiped the blood off his knife.

"We'll talk more once we're out. There's still a big idiot waiting for us to deal with."

With that, he carried his blade up to the church above...
