Chapter 44: 44 No Nicknames Allowed for Someone This Cool

"Pah-chin, are you okay?"

Sano Manjiro's voice rang out as he surveyed the scene before him—his men, all dressed in Toman (Tokyo Manji) signature uniforms, lay scattered on the ground.

His face darkened as he turned to the only one still sitting—Pah-chin.

"Mikey!" Pah-chin glanced at Hojou Kyousuke, checking his reaction.

Seeing that Kyousuke didn't react, he quickly scrambled to his feet and rushed toward the rest of the group.

"You good?" Manjiro patted Pah-chin on the shoulder, his expression easing slightly as he saw his comrade was still in one piece.

"Mikey, that guy took down our entire Third Division all by himself…"

"Alright, Pah-chin. You go rest now. I'll handle this." Manjiro cut him off with a small smile.

"But Mikey, he's seriously strong—"

"That's enough. Go rest." Manjiro's voice was still light, but the weight behind it left no room for argument.

"Pah-chin, drop it."

A tall blond with braided hair—Draken—stepped forward, pulling Pah-chin back.

"Draken…" Reluctantly, Pah-chin bit his tongue and retreated, his expression filled with concern.

Manjiro took a step forward, now standing face-to-face with Kyousuke.

"My men gave you some trouble, huh?"

Kyousuke, still as relaxed as ever, replied lazily, "Same goes for you. My friends got quite the warm welcome from your guys."

"I don't care what my men did. You don't get to discipline them for me."

"Now, who the hell are you? If you're here, you must be another delinquent."

Manjiro folded his arms, exuding an effortless confidence.

'Damn it, how does he make it look so cool? How do I pull off that level of swagger?'

'And where the hell is Kisaki? Isn't this the part where a minion announces their boss's name?'

Just as Kyousuke was lost in thought, Kisaki Tetta stepped forward—finally!

He had been watching since Toman's main force arrived, and there was no way he was going to let his boss lose face.

Hanagaki Takemichi and the others stood behind him, their legs shaking, but their loyalty unwavering.

"Sano Manjiro, is that how you treat your seniors?" Kisaki flicked his tongue, emphasizing his words with a dramatic pause.

"Senior?"

Manjiro tilted his head, looking over at Kisaki Tetta.

Sure, the guy with the bamboo sword seemed imposing, but this shorty?

He wasn't even taller than Mikey himself.

"Standing before you is…"

Kisaki took a deep breath, standing at attention before shouting at the top of his lungs:

"The boss of the Rampaging Angels! The Handless Demon! The one and only—Hojou Kyousuke!"

'…That was embarassing.' Kyousuke immediately regretted wanting someone else to announce his name.

He cringed internally but maintained his usual bored expression.

Manjiro remained still, but the Toman members around him exploded into chatter.

"What?!"

"The Handless Demon?! They say anyone who fights him won't be able to hold chopsticks for two days!"

'…I can hear you, you know?'

"They said he single-handedly took down all of the Rampaging Angels to become their second leader!"

"Then wiped out the entire Shinjuku Ame Ame gang! They say he's the most dangerous delinquent of the new generation!"

Manjiro looked up at Kyousuke, and his eyes narrowing slightly.

"The second leader of the Rampaging Angels? Guess that does make you a senior."

"Yeah, I guess."

"I'm the leader of Toman— Manjiro. Since you're my senior, shouldn't you introduce yourself properly?"

"Leader of the Rampaging Angels—Hojou Kyousuke."

"So, is this a declaration of war against Toman?"

"Declaration of war?"

Kyousuke stretched lazily, his stomach growling.

It was getting late, and all he really wanted was some food.

"I wouldn't call it a war." Manjiro frowned. He didn't understand what the guy was getting at, but he could feel the disdain in his voice.

"A war means both sides are equal in strength. But you, Toman?"

Kyousuke chuckled softly, making his meaning crystal clear.

"Bastard! So what if you're from the Rampaging Angels?!"

"This is Shibuya! Boss, show him what's up!"

Toman's members were getting heated, their captains itching to charge in.

"Heh. Then let's see if the so-called leader of the Rampaging Angels can back up that talk."

Manjiro's eyes sharpened.

"1v1? I'd suggest you all come at me at once. I don't have time to play games." Kyousuke sighed. He was tired of this "defeat one, then another steps up" nonsense.

"Hope you can still talk big after this."

Manjiro shot forward, his uniform slipping off his shoulders as he lunged at Hojou Kyousuke.

"Kisaki, step back." Kyousuke raised his bamboo sword with one hand, bringing it down in a casual downward strike.

Just a basic swing, but with his strength, it was more than enough to be a finishing move for most people.

Manjiro skidded to a stop, barely managing to throw up his arms to block the attack.

'—Shit, that hurts.' His right hand pressed against his left arm, absorbing the impact.

'I need to close the distance!'

Kyousuke had the reach advantage, and unless Mikey's legs magically grew three times longer, he wasn't going to land a hit.

This was exactly why Kyousuke stuck with kendo—even with his newfound strength, having a weapon gave him a huge advantage.

Unlike those legendary fighters with skin tougher than steel, he wasn't invincible.

So avoiding direct hits was the smarter move.

And then, Toman witnessed what true swordsmanship looked like.

No matter how Manjiro moved, how fierce his attacks were, he was always met with a precise strike that forced him back.

Kyousuke's bamboo sword spun effortlessly, forming an impenetrable circle around him.

'So this is the famous "nuclear kick," huh?'

'Super mobile, I'll give him that.' Kyousuke grinned, effortlessly knocking Mikey away again.

What a rare find—a training partner this good didn't come by often.

It almost looked like a game.

Mikey was like an eagle, swift and deadly, but no matter how he attacked, he couldn't get past Kyousuke's defenses.

It was only a matter of time before the eagle tired out.

As Kyousuke toyed with Mikey, the mood among Toman's ranks grew grim.

"So this is the Handless Demon… I've never seen Mikey struggle like this before."

Draken, Toman's vice-captain, clenched his fists.

"Yeah…"

Mitsuya Takashi, Second Division Captain, recalled how Mikey usually ended fights in a single kick.

"This guy's a monster. Our entire Third Division didn't last five minutes against him!"

Pah-chin, having felt Kyousuke's strength firsthand, was the most worried.

"Let's just jump him. He came onto our turf looking for trouble first, right?"

Fifth Division Captain Muto Yasuhiro smirked.

"I'm in. Mikey's already burned a lot of stamina."

As if on cue, everyone turned to Mikey—he had stopped attacking and was now crouched down, gasping for breath, sweat dripping from his face.
