Chapter 45: 45 Black Impulse? Exploding Out of Control? Not Likely.
"What's wrong? Can't you keep up anymore?"
Hojou Kyousuke, as usual, did not press the attack.
Elegance was the exclusive right of the powerful.
In front of him, Sano Manjiro could only keep jumping around, while Kyousuke could afford to let him attack and even rest before the next round.
"Still far from it." With one hand propped on his knee, Manjiro struggled to stand up.
In order to get close enough to Kyousuke to land his devastating nuclear kick, he repeatedly charged, changed direction, and charged again.
Though he didn't manage to get close, he had already pushed his legs to the breaking point.
When Draken saw Mikey's unsteady stance, he knew it was time to make a decision.
Mikey would never want them to interrupt the duel, but...
"All of you, charge!" Draken shouted, rushing forward.
"YEAAAAAH!" The Toman crowd, eager for action, immediately launched their attack.
"Oh? Looks like it's time for my favorite one vs an army?"
Kyousuke smiled happily as the crowd rushed toward him.
Thinking about it, both of his past battles had been one against many — or rather, one person against an entire gang.
"You bastards, who told you to come over here?"
Unlike Kyousuke's enjoyment, Manjiro was furious as he watched his subordinates charge forward.
"Mikey, this is the pride of Toman!" Draken didn't hesitate, charging past Mikey to face Kyousuke.
Normally, Manjiro would have boasted about how Toman was his domain, but now, feeling the weakness in his legs, he fell silent.
"A punch that can send someone flying ten meters, Draken, a monstrous man."
Kisaki, who stood on the sidelines, saw Draken leading the charge and immediately tensed.
He was about to step forward, but then froze.
Well, it seemed that before Kyousuke, no one could really be called a monster.
"No wonder they call him the Handless Demon!" Hanagaki Takemichi and his friends were excited.
Meanwhile, a few of the henchmen were thinking something, but Kyousuke didn't care.
When he saw the golden braid charging toward him, something inside him clicked.
His eyes instantly locked onto the fist and the arm.
'Thump!'
The moment Draken entered his range, Kyousuke struck with precision, slicing through his arm with the wooden sword, and with the rebound force, struck Draken on the forehead with his backhand.
Draken fell to the ground without a sound, his eyes rolling back.
"Draken!" The Toman crew shouted in fury and rushed forward.
Kyousuke, now a seasoned veteran in group battles, swiftly dealt with Draken.
Before the others could attack, he jumped back to dodge a punch from a Tachibana-haired man.
Mid-air, his bamboo sword was already raised, and when he landed, he slashed it down, knocking the Tachibana-haired man to the ground.
From the sidelines, Manjiro watched as familiar faces fell one by one, the impact deeply affecting him.
His eyes seemed to lose their focus as if the emotions inside him were evaporating.
He didn't understand the peculiar nature of Kyousuke's attacks.
He assumed his subordinates had been severely injured, but in the world of delinquents, unless someone was killed, no one stayed down for long.
Even if an arm was broken, they'd keep fighting.
'Wait... is he about to lose it? Or is he going full berserk mode?' As Kyousuke continued to slash away with enjoyment, he noticed something off with that blonde, small guy — those vacant eyes.
'Wasn't that a sign of someone about to lose control?'
No good, don't act like you're some kind of magical girl, just don't add drama for no reason.
With a sudden burst of speed, Kyousuke surged forward, effortlessly escaping the encirclement of dozens of people, and reached Manjiro.
"Time to sleep~" That teasing voice was the last thing Manjiro heard before losing consciousness.
"Mikey!" Just like Manjiro, the Toman crew thought their leader was done for.
While it was true that Kyousuke had incapacitated him, his attacks only caused a temporary "shutdown."
"Right, right, keep trying harder." Kyousuke smiled even more widely.
Before a fight, he would avoid unnecessary trouble, but now that he was deep into it, he thought,
Please, don't break down first!
"Hojou, you're amazing, you're so cool!"
Hanagaki Takemichi and his four friends cheered on from the sidelines, their blood boiling with excitement.
They almost wanted to rush in and fight alongside Kyousuke, but the pain in their bodies constantly reminded them that they were nothing but weaklings.
Hearing Hanagaki's words, seeing him look at Hojou Kyousuke with such admiration, Kisaki felt a deep sense of betrayal.
About ten minutes passed, and as the night sky was covered by darkness and stars, the Toman members were all knocked down by Kyousuke.
Just then, the roar of motorcycles echoed from outside the park.
"Kisaki did you call them?" Kyousuke turned to look at Kisaki.
"Heh, the leader's busy fighting, while I'm over here eating and drinking. That's just wrong," Kisaki scratched his head with a sheepish smile.
Kyousuke was about to give Kisaki a little scolding, thinking that if he wanted to help, he should've been here from the start.
It would have saved Hojou the effort.
But before he could say anything, a voice suddenly rang in his head.
———————————————————————
"You have to remember to watch the comet on Thursday night..."
"Make sure to watch it! I'll... watch it with you!"
———————————————————————
Not having time to process where the voice came from, Kyousuke felt a sudden urgency.
This place had no view of the sky, with the wide tree canopies blocking it.
Only a small patch of sky was visible above the open space.
'Tonight, I have to see the comet' Kyousuke told himself, as if the past him was urging him to act.
Should he run upstairs to the outside? No, there wasn't time.
The inner voice urged him again.
At this moment, Makki Hojou entered with Kisaki Tetta and Tsuzuki Ryou.
"Hahaha, a satisfying victory, Boss!" Makki Hojou's loud laughter echoed before he even entered.
"Makki, you're just in time. Help me pile up these guys."
Kyousuke said before getting to work, grabbing a knocked-out Toman member by the hand and tossing him to the only spot in the area where the sky was visible.
Makki immediately understood the urgency in Kyousuke's voice and quickly started helping.
His strength was enormous too.
With one hand, he grabbed a member and casually tossed them, stacking them up one by one.
The fallen members regained consciousness, but before they could move, another body piled on top, pinning them down.
The Haitani brothers and Satoshi Katagiri, who came with Makki Hojou, started moving as well.
The Toman members began waking up, but upon recognizing these notorious delinquents, they knew their place.
Without a word, they let themselves be handled.
With everyone working together, a mountain of bodies was soon formed.
Kyousuke grabbed Manjiro and Draken, who were still unconscious, and climbed up the pile, tossing them to the top and sitting down on Manjiro's back.
He'd made sure to give the little guy special treatment.
He wouldn't be waking up until tomorrow morning.
Looking up at the sky, free from obstruction, Kyousuke finally relaxed, his inner tension eased.
