The Villain Only Wants To Live a Buddhist Life

Chapter 67

Chapter 67: The Imp Beast Begs for First Subscription

“Did I hear that wrong?”

After a dozen seconds, Professor Shylph appeared in the corridor, her gaze hesitantly scanning the walls around.

Then Professor Didi flew over and, after looking left and right, said, “Shall we check over there? Something feels off. Nowadays, children are getting harder to deal with.”

Professor Shylph nodded without hesitation, “Times have changed. Back in our day, we were too busy studying… We didn’t have time for night wandering.”

Just on the other side of the wall.

Dark composed himself, slowly waiting until Professors Shylph and Didi moved away before letting out a sigh of relief and releasing the Imp Beast he was holding.

The Imp Beast had been pinned down, unable to breathe for quite some time.

He quickly took a deep breath, as if coming back to life: “Fresh air is truly wonderful.”

Dark rolled his eyes, “Are you really making such a big deal out of being an familiar?”

The Imp Beast muttered, lowering its head, “So what if I’m an familiar? Don’t I deserve to breathe?”

Dark ignored him, “Go, scout ahead.”

“Alright (??ˇ?ˇ??).”

The Imp Beast drooped its head and flew forward.

Dark then took out his Magic Pen, marking his path on the walls as he walked, leaving traces of his mana.

The butterflies created by the Flower Card clearly lacked intelligence, not knowing how to choose their path, and could only be used as pointers.

If they followed the butterflies blindly, they would just keep hitting the walls.

Dark was relieved he had brought his shoulder bag, which contained all the necessary tools.

His spatial imagination wasn’t good enough to map out the route from scratch.

Torches on both sides of the secret passage gradually lit up, illuminating the way ahead.

Dark continued walking, retracing his steps whenever he went the wrong way and turning into another branch.

This back-and-forth process took him nearly half an hour in this labyrinth-like passage.

Inevitably, his senses became confused, making it hard to distinguish east from west.

Just as he felt a bit restless, a voice suddenly came from the other side of the wall.

“Squid, your behavior last night was a bit much, don’t you think?”

“No way? Pufferfish. If you can’t handle this, you should leave the Sect!”

“I know it was just a rehearsal, but…”

“There’s no but! Look at your fat chin and soft belly; no one told you ‘but’ when you were born!”

“Squid, you’re going too far…”

“I’m just stating facts.”

“Fine, I can’t argue with you. What do we do next?”

“Hide well, don’t let the professors find us.”

As the voices faded away, Dark whispered, “Quite cautious, using seafood names to call each other. It seems Mr. Squid was the one who turned Robert into a woman last night.”

He rested for a moment, then continued along the wall, finally finding a way around.

Following the direction Squid and Pufferfish had taken, Dark found the correct path.

From the butterflies’ reactions, he sensed that their destination was nearby.

Thus, he slowed down.

No one knew how many people were inside the so-called “Sect.”

If anyone was still there, he needed to be ready to act at any moment.

However, he seemed quite fortunate. He did not encounter anyone else until he entered a small hall—no, someone was there!

Dark immediately turned and retreated, leaning against the wall to look inside.

But the increasingly active butterflies flew uncontrollably toward the interior.

He cursed inwardly, then saw the reflection of a statue behind the hall waver and shrink back!

“(⊙o⊙)Hmm?”

This reaction?

Dark instantly smiled.

The person hiding behind must also be worried about being discovered.

This made Dark realize that this was also an intruder.

“Should I, tease them?”

The thought vanished quickly.

He certainly didn’t do that.

Mainly because the butterflies had already flown around the statue, landing and taking off like bees collecting nectar.

The statue, emitting a gentle white light, seemed to absorb the light each time the butterflies landed.

But the light couldn’t last long, dissipating into star dust in the air.

The person hiding behind the statue was clearly affected by the butterflies, faintly audible rustling sounds could be heard.

It seemed they were trying to drive away the approaching butterflies.

Dark made some guesses and drew the Night Costume Mask Set from his Card Deck.

“Mana Summoning.”

A faint glow flashed.

His school uniform was replaced with the cheap evening attire.

Black suit, top hat, white glasses, deep red cloak, white gloves, and a blood-red rose!

Apart from the material of the suit giving off a cheap feel, it was a standard gentleman’s outfit.

But Dark touched his face, feeling that calling himself “masked” with just a pair of glasses was a bit much.

For now, he couldn’t find anything to cover his face.

At the same time.

The person hiding behind the statue, perhaps tired of the butterflies or realizing Dark was also an intruder—or maybe thinking they were already discovered—suddenly intensified their efforts to drive the butterflies away!

With a sudden burst of intense light from behind the statue, all the butterflies flying around it were annihilated!

“Snap!”

Dark drew the Orchid Butterfly Flower Card and noticed a fatal crack in its center!

“Unexpectedly, the professor wasn’t lying; this is indeed just a toy.”

Dark realized the truth in the professor’s words, feeling both amused and frustrated.

If it were a proper Mana Spirit Card, it wouldn’t be destroyed simply because the mana spirit was eliminated.

“Stop hiding, come out!”

Wit Gold walked out from behind the statue, followed by a robust buck deer!

Dark almost laughed out loud.

Wit had also used a Changing Card, a full-body mask knight set—just like the poorly made “Beelzebub Fly Suit” that Senior Leon had made!

It was unclear if he had been brainwashed.

Anyway, dressed in the fly suit, Wit looked like a giant fly with a large compound eye mask on his face.

But surprisingly, if you ignore the appearance, the fly suit was much more effective at concealing identity than Dark’s Night Costume Mask Set.

But why summon that distinctive white buck deer even after changing outfits?

“Can’t laugh anymore, take note, never make the same mistake as him.”

Without hesitation, Dark ran away.

Leaving the Hero’s Child, who had finally mustered the courage, with a flamboyant back view.

But the Hero’s Child, having been suppressed for too long, seeing someone run away without fighting, actually chased after him!
