Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The Streets Run Red
---
1. The Trap is Set
Jinwoo knew Kyung-min wouldn't sit still after the docks were taken.
So, he planned ahead.
Inside an abandoned warehouse in Hongdae, the Ghosts moved like shadows, setting up explosives along the steel beams. Hye-jin checked her rifle from an elevated position while Ji-hoon sharpened a blade.
Jinwoo stood at the center, waiting.
Hye-jin glanced down at him. "Are you sure Kyung-min will take the bait?"
Jinwoo smirked. "He doesn't have a choice."
Kyung-min thrived on dominance—he couldn't let Jinwoo's challenge go unanswered.
And when he arrived, Seoul would burn.
---
2. Kyung-min's Arrival
At exactly midnight, headlights flooded the warehouse entrance.
Kyung-min's convoy arrived in force—twenty men, heavily armed, surrounding him like a king in the center of a war parade.
Jinwoo stepped forward, alone.
Kyung-min got out of his car, a grin on his face. "You've been busy, Jinwoo."
Jinwoo's expression was unreadable. "You came."
"Of course," Kyung-min laughed. "Did you really think I'd ignore your little stunt?"
His gaze flicked around the warehouse. "Tell me, is this where you planned to kill me?"
Jinwoo smirked. "Something like that."
Kyung-min's grin widened. "Good. I was hoping for a fight."
He snapped his fingers.
His men raised their guns.
And that's when the explosions went off.
---
3. The Ambush
The warehouse shook as flames erupted from the steel beams, taking out half of Kyung-min's men instantly.
Screams filled the air. The remaining gangsters scrambled, some running for cover, others firing blindly.
Jinwoo moved like a ghost, taking down targets with precise shots.
Hye-jin fired from above, picking off anyone who tried to escape.
Ji-hoon emerged from the smoke, his knife flashing as he slit throats in the chaos.
Kyung-min's men were falling fast.
But Kyung-min?
He just stood there, laughing.
---
4. The Devil Revealed
Even as his men died around him, Kyung-min didn't move.
Then, he pulled out a gun and shot one of his own men.
Jinwoo froze.
Kyung-min turned to face him, his smile widening. "You think I care about them?"
He stepped over the bodies, his gun still raised.
"They're just pawns."
Jinwoo's stomach twisted.
This wasn't a man trying to build power.
This was a man who just wanted to watch the world burn.
"You and I," Kyung-min said, stepping closer, "are the same."
Jinwoo's grip on his gun tightened. "No. We're not."
Kyung-min chuckled. "We'll see."
Then, he pulled out a detonator.
Jinwoo's eyes widened.
"You're not the only one who planned ahead," Kyung-min whispered.
And then—
BOOM.
---
5. The Collapse
The floor beneath them shattered as another explosion rocked the warehouse.
Jinwoo hit the ground hard, the impact knocking the air from his lungs.
Through the smoke and fire, he saw Kyung-min walking away, unharmed.
Ji-hoon was bleeding beside him, barely conscious.
Hye-jin's voice crackled in his earpiece. "Jinwoo—GET OUT!"
But he couldn't move.
His body was failing him.
And Kyung-min?
He was getting away.
Jinwoo clenched his fists.
This wasn't over.
