Supergirl Defender Of Love

Chapter 26: Rouge One

Kara lounged on the couch, one arm draped over the backrest, the other lazily scrolling through her phone as Rogue sat beside her, subtly inching closer. It had been only a day since Kara had invited her to stay, and already Rogue had begun weaving herself into Kara's daily life like she had always belonged there. She played the role perfectly—soft-spoken, endlessly grateful, and just vulnerable enough to make Kara feel protective without raising any suspicions. Every glance, every casual touch was calculated, carefully executed to test the limits of what she could get away with. And most importantly, to confirm what she had already begun to suspect—Kara's power was limitless.

Rogue had tried it last night, feigning exhaustion as she lightly leaned against Kara's shoulder while they watched a movie. She had expected the usual rush of absorption, the familiar pull of life force and ability flooding into her, but what she got instead had been… different. Instead of draining Kara, she had received something—an energy boost, a surge of raw strength that made her muscles feel lighter, her mind sharper. And Kara? She hadn't even noticed. She had just kept watching the screen, munching on popcorn, completely unaware that every moment of contact was making Rogue stronger.

Now, as she sat beside Kara, watching her with careful eyes, Rogue's mind was already racing with possibilities. Every time she touched Kara, she felt it—the subtle hum of power slipping into her like a steady IV drip. It wasn't a single ability being absorbed; it was pure energy, something she had never experienced before. It made her stronger, faster, more aware, and the best part? Kara wasn't affected in the slightest. The Kryptonian didn't even flinch.

Rogue brushed her fingers lightly against Kara's wrist under the pretense of stretching, and there it was again—that addictive, intoxicating rush. Kara remained blissfully unaware, still scrolling through her phone, her toned stomach peeking through the slight lift of her shirt as she shifted. Rogue's eyes lingered for a half-second too long before she forced herself to look away. Perfect. Too perfect.

The door opened, and Natasha stepped inside, her sharp gaze immediately landing on Rogue. The air between them crackled with something unspoken, a silent battle of wills that neither acknowledged but both understood. Natasha didn't trust her. That much had been obvious from the moment they met.

Kara looked up, smiling. "Hey, Natasha. Finally done with your secret agent stuff?"

Natasha smirked, her eyes never leaving Rogue. "For now." She walked further in, peeling off her jacket as she approached, standing close—too close—beside Kara, an unspoken message in the way her fingers brushed against Kara's shoulder in greeting.

Rogue didn't react, just smiled sweetly. "Busy day?"

Natasha sat on the opposite side of Kara, crossing her legs. "Always." Her expression was unreadable, but Rogue knew what was happening—territorial behavior. Natasha wasn't just watching her; she was testing her, waiting for her to slip.

Kara, oblivious to the undercurrent of tension, stretched her arms above her head, her shirt riding up slightly, revealing the defined lines of her toned abs. Rogue wasn't the only one who noticed. Natasha's eyes flickered for a fraction of a second, her posture shifting almost imperceptibly before she looked away, schooling her expression into indifference. Rogue smirked inwardly. So, even the cold-hearted assassin isn't immune.

The door opened again, and Gwen stepped in, followed by Wanda, who was floating lazily above the ground as usual. Gwen's eyes immediately narrowed when she spotted Rogue sitting too close to Kara. Wanda, on the other hand, simply grinned, perching herself on the kitchen counter.

"Well, isn't this cozy?" Wanda mused, tilting her head as she regarded Rogue with an amused expression. "You settling in nicely?"

Rogue gave a soft, almost shy smile. "Kara's been really kind to me."

Kara chuckled. "It's no big deal."

Natasha exhaled through her nose. "For now."

Gwen crossed her arms. "Yeah, for now."

Rogue played her part flawlessly, lowering her gaze slightly, feigning just a bit of hesitation. "I don't want to be a burden. If it's a problem—"

Kara cut her off with a scoff. "It's not a problem. You're staying."

Rogue could practically feel the irritation rolling off Gwen and Natasha. Wanda just smirked, watching the game play out like a spectator at a particularly entertaining chess match.

Natasha leaned back, her fingers tapping against her thigh. "We don't know much about you."

Rogue blinked, tilting her head. "I already told you—"

Gwen interrupted, stepping forward. "You told us the basics. But not the details. Where were you heading before Kara found you? What's your plan now?"

Rogue hesitated, just enough to sell the moment, before offering a soft smile. "I don't really have one." She looked at Kara, voice gentle. "Guess I was just waiting for the right place to belong."

Kara, bless her naïve heart, bought it completely.

"Well, you found it," she said easily.

Natasha and Gwen both looked like they wanted to break something.

Rogue leaned into Kara slightly, letting her fingers graze against her wrist again. Another rush. Another sip of power. She was going to drink from this well forever.

Wanda, grinning, broke the tension. "Since we're all playing nice now, how about food?"

Kara perked up immediately. "Pizza?"

Gwen groaned. "We literally just had pizza."

Kara pouted, and Rogue watched in fascination as every single person in the room reacted. Natasha's jaw tensed, Gwen sighed like she was fighting a losing battle, and even Wanda's smirk twitched like she was considering caving.

Kara had them all wrapped around her finger and didn't even realize it.

Rogue? She was going to make sure she never let go.

"Pizza sounds good," Rogue said softly, and Kara beamed.

Gwen pinched the bridge of her nose. "Fine. But we're picking a different place this time."

Kara grinned, standing and stretching, her movement unconsciously mesmerizing. Her muscles flexed slightly, the smooth definition of her arms, the sculpted curve of her waist—perfect, effortless beauty.

Rogue wasn't the only one staring.

Natasha's fingers twitched before she looked away. Gwen crossed her arms tighter. Wanda, ever shameless, let her gaze roam before smirking and floating toward the door.

Rogue barely held back a predatory grin. They were all obsessed. And they didn't even realize it.

Good. That just made it easier for her to stake her claim.

As the group headed out, Kara grabbed Rogue's hand without thinking, teleporting them both in an instant. The rush of power hit Rogue harder than before, an electric pulse running through her veins, making her stronger, faster, more aware. She barely contained her shudder, her breath hitching for just a fraction of a second.

Kara turned, grinning. "Neat trick, huh?"

Rogue smiled, soft and sweet, while inside she was already planning. "Yeah. Real neat."

And just like that, she knew.

Kara was hers.

She just had to wait for the others to realize they'd already lost.
