Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Su Yi Must Fight to Survive!
"Impressive swordplay. Though still quite immature, it was executed with great flexibility." Master Mustard praised.
"That series of attacks looked rushed, but it seemed to follow some kind of pattern… What exactly was that?" Bea looked puzzled. For a moment, both Su Yi and Rucao's aura had changed, becoming sharper and more intense.
"Huff! Huff! Huff!" The feline Pokémon panted heavily. The series of moves had been executed in a hurry—done purely on instinct—but had left it exhausted.
"Rucao! Well done! You might just become a true Hunting Felyne!" Su Yi clenched his fist, smiling.
"Hunting Felyne? Hunting Felyne! Meow!" Rucao's eyes sparkled.
A Hunting Felyne was a rare kind of Palico that could hunt independently, without relying on a Hunter. Only a select few Felynes ever reached this level of skill.
Now, thanks to the power of Pokémon, Rucao had the potential to become one.
Su Yi had been struggling to decide the best development path for Rucao. He knew Rucao would never settle for being just a support Palico. But now, seeing its talent unfold, Su Yi was certain—Rucao was meant to be a Hunting Felyne!
"The battle isn't over yet! Machop, use Brick Break!" Bea commanded.
"Rucao, use Foresight Slash!" Su Yi shouted.
Rucao twisted its body to dodge Machop's attack, its short blade poised for a counterstrike.
"Low Kick!" Bea aimed to repeat her previous strategy.
"Counter Slash!"
Rucao's blade slashed diagonally at Machop's incoming leg, intercepting the Low Kick.
"Spin Slash!" Su Yi urgently commanded.
Rucao, now familiar with the technique, executed an even faster spin attack than before.
"Block it with Brick Break!" Bea tensed up.
But Machop had no time. The glowing slash landed hard, dealing a heavy blow.
"Rucao! Keep up the pressure!" Su Yi clenched his fist, his excitement rising.
"Vertical Slash! Direct Stab! Rising Cut!" Su Yi called out every move, pouring his gaming experience into his commands.
"Meow!" Rucao channeled all its strength, swinging its bone blade in a relentless flurry of attacks.
Even with Bea's guidance, Machop was completely overwhelmed by Rucao's offensive rhythm.
Su Yi had been right—Rucao's only chance to defeat Machop was to keep up a relentless assault, not allowing a single moment of respite!
Bea frowned. She hadn't expected to be pushed this far by a rookie Trainer and an inexperienced Pokémon.
"Machop! Use Reversal!" Bea made a desperate call.
"Chaa!" Machop's body glowed faintly as it lunged toward Rucao.
"Foresight Slash!" Su Yi commanded.
Rucao twisted its body to evade.
"Grab it!" Bea shouted.
Suddenly, Machop spun unexpectedly, locking Rucao in a tight grip.
"Damn!" Su Yi's eyes widened. He hadn't expected Machop's sudden burst of speed in this critical moment.
"Meow!" Rucao cried out in pain but then lifted its head and smashed it directly into Machop's face.
Thud!
Machop loosened its grip as both Pokémon staggered backward before collapsing.
"Both Pokémon are unable to battle! Trainers, please send out your second Pokémon!" Master Mustard declared.
"Phew! Great job, Rucao!" Su Yi exhaled, stepping onto the battlefield to pick up his exhausted companion. He released Chansey to care for Rucao, then returned to his position, ready for the next round.
"That was an impressive offense. But my next partner won't be so easy to deal with! Go, Machoke!" Bea threw her Poké Ball.
A muscular humanoid Pokémon wearing a belt emerged, roaring fiercely—it was Machoke, the evolved form of Machop.
"A Machoke, huh? Then it's your turn! The fearsome hunter from the ancient forest! Go, Great Jagras!" Su Yi sent out his Pokémon.
"Roooaaarrr!" Great Jagras emerged with an earth-shaking roar, immediately ready for battle.
"Another Pokémon I've never seen before… That's the third unfamiliar Pokémon Su Yi has! And this one is huge!" Bea was astonished.
The large yellowish lizard locked eyes with Machoke, its claws and fangs itching for a fight.
"Choke?" Machoke hesitated for a moment, taken aback by the sheer ferocity of its opponent.
"Size doesn't determine victory! Machoke, use Mega Punch!" Bea commanded.
"Machoke!" Machoke charged forward, its muscular body surging with power as its fist swung down like a hammer.
"Great Jagras! Use Dragon Claw!" Su Yi clenched his fist.
"Roaaar!" Great Jagras roared, its claws glowing with draconic energy as it met the incoming punch.
Boom!
Machoke's strength was undeniable—Great Jagras's Dragon Claw was slightly pushed back.
"Use your other claw! Rear up and put your weight into it!" Su Yi called out.
"Roaaar!" Baxcalibur locked Machoke's fist with one claw, then raised its massive body to bring the other claw crashing down.
"Use Ice Punch!" Bea countered.
"Machoke!"
Machoke's fists became coated in frost as it swung up to meet the descending claw.
Thud!
Though powerful, Machoke struggled under Baxcalibur's sheer weight and height advantage. Even a Pokémon known for its strength found its arms trembling under the pressure.
"That's a familiar tactic—Su Yi is excellent at utilizing his Pokémon's physical advantages," Master Mustard commented with a smile.
"No way!" Bea gritted her teeth. She had expected Machoke to regain the upper hand, yet it had already fallen into a disadvantageous position.
As she looked up, she saw Great Jagras's fierce gaze locked onto Machoke. Su Yi's face burned with a hunger for battle and an unshakable desire to win.
For a moment, she hallucinated—seeing Great Jagras as an invincible Charizard and Su Yi as the confident Champion, Leon.
Bea shook her head, shaking off the illusion. The pressure of facing Leon had left too deep an impression on her.
"Machoke…?" Machoke turned its head slightly, waiting for Bea's command.
"If you hesitate, the hunt will end now! Great Jagras, use Hyper Voice!" Su Yi roared.
"Rooooaaaaarrrr!" Great Jagras unleashed a deafening roar, sending dark energy surging toward Machoke, causing visible pain.
"Machoke! Ice Punch!" Bea snapped back to reality, giving her next command.
"Machoke!" Frost spread across Machoke's fists, the cold seeping into Great Jagrasr's claws.
"Roooaaarrr!" Once again facing an element that countered it, Great Jagras roared in pain.
Crack… crack…
The ice spread rapidly, beginning to freeze Great Jagras's arms solid.
Yet even under these conditions, Great Jagras refused to let go, continuing to press Machoke down with all its might.
"Why…?" Bea was stunned. Was it really willing to risk everything like this? Such untamed aggression… such a wild, relentless battle style…
Great Jagras fought like a warrior with nothing to lose.
Su Yi grinned. "Where we come from, if you don't fight… you don't survive."
"Great Jagras! Body Press!"
"Roaaar!" Great Jagras's body shone with white energy as it reared up and came crashing down.
