Shadow and Inifinity

Chapter 2: The Echoes of Ruin

The Ruptured Moon

A crimson moon hung above the ruins of the battlefield, fractured like shattered glass. The very air trembled, carrying whispers from the void. Itachi Uchiha stood amidst the wreckage, his Sharingan glowing in the dim light. Next to him, Gojo Satoru adjusted his blindfold, the smirk on his lips masking a rare unease.

The Abyssal Hunter had been destroyed, but its death had unleashed something far worse.

The rift, instead of closing, had begun to pulsate—expanding like a wound infected with darkness. Itachi exhaled sharply. "It wasn't the true source."

Gojo crossed his arms. "Yeah, I was afraid of that." He turned toward the widening abyss, his usually carefree tone laced with something sharper. "Looks like we poked the beast, huh? "

The wind howled. The sky dimmed. And then—it came.

The Herald of Oblivion

A figure stepped forth from the rift, clad in a flowing obsidian cloak that seemed to devour the light around it. Its face was hidden behind a cracked mask, adorned with ancient markings that pulsed with an eerie glow.

Gojo's fingers twitched. This presence… it was heavier than anything he had ever felt.

The figure raised a hand, and reality itself seemed to scream.

Itachi barely had time to react before the ground beneath them twisted into a spiraling void, attempting to consume them. Instantly, his Susanoo flared to life, its spectral armor shielding him from the pull. Gojo, unfazed, hovered above the vortex using his Limitless ability, hands still in his pockets.

The masked figure's voice resonated, echoing as if spoken from beyond time itself. "Your interference ends here."

A tidal wave of black fire and cursed energy erupted from the rift, surging toward them with deadly intent.

The Clash of Legends

Gojo moved first. Reversal Red. A crimson blast shot from his palm, colliding with the black fire mid-air. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, flattening the ruins around them. The masked figure didn't flinch.

Itachi moved in an instant, his Sharingan spinning into the Mangekyō. With a single glance, he cast Tsukuyomi. The world around the figure shifted—a hellish landscape where time stretched into eternity.

For most beings, an eternity in Tsukuyomi meant death.

But the figure laughed.

With an inhuman pulse of power, it shattered the illusion like glass, stepping forward unscathed. Itachi's breath hitched. It had resisted the Tsukuyomi.

Gojo whistled. "Oh, that's bad."

The Mask Breaks

The figure raised a single finger. A void formed around it—a singularity, crushing everything in its wake.

Gojo barely had time to react before the attack pierced Infinity.

The singularity exploded against his chest, sending him hurtling backward through multiple buildings.

Itachi leaped, weaving a dozen hand signs in a second. "Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku! " A tsunami of fire surged toward the figure, but it walked through the flames untouched, raising its mask toward him.

The mask cracked.

And beneath it—

Eyes. Crimson. Infinite. A fusion of the Rinnegan and the Six Eyes.

Gojo pulled himself from the rubble, wiping blood from his mouth. His normally confident smirk was gone. "…Well, that's new."

The figure raised a hand, and for the first time, both Itachi and Gojo felt it—true terror.

The Revelation

A voice, deep and ancient, spoke from the void. "I am Tenebris. First of the Forgotten."

The wind stilled. The world seemed to hold its breath. The Forgotten. A name neither of them recognized, yet instinctively knew to fear.

Gojo cracked his knuckles, his Infinity realigning. "You know, I was starting to think I'd seen everything."

Itachi's Sharingan blazed, studying Tenebris' movements. "We need to retreat."

Gojo turned his head slightly. "You don't usually say that."

Itachi didn't respond. His instincts screamed—this wasn't a battle they could win.

Tenebris raised a hand once more. The sky fractured.

And then—

Darkness consumed everything.

The world cracked apart as the sky folded into itself, darkness spilling forth like ink. Tenebris moved without sound, his cloak shifting like living shadows. The mere act of his presence warping reality made it clear—this was no ordinary foe.

Gojo adjusted his blindfold, his fingers twitching. "Alright, I don't usually say this, but…" He grinned, though there was a sharpness behind it. "This guy might actually be fun."

Itachi wasn't amused. His Sharingan analyzed every flicker of movement, but Tenebris was unreadable—his energy signature constantly shifting, impossible to track. That alone was disturbing.

The masked figure raised a hand, and instantly, the battlefield collapsed into an ocean of void.

Gojo reacted first. "Hollow Purple."

A cataclysmic blast of red and blue energy spiraled toward Tenebris. The sheer force of it warped the surrounding air, disintegrating everything in its path.

But before impact—

It vanished.

Gojo's eyes narrowed. "The hell? "

Itachi barely had time to warn him before Tenebris reappeared behind Gojo.

A single touch—

Infinity shattered.

Gojo's body lurched, as though gravity had quadrupled in an instant. His usually untouchable barrier of Infinity had been breached.

For the first time, Satoru Gojo felt the weight of an enemy's power.

The Illusion of Victory

Itachi did not wait. His Susanoo awakened, a ghostly sword plummeting in a curved line targeted at Tenebris' head.

Steel and shadow collided.

And the next instant, Itachi found himself plummeting.

The field around them had altered. No—he had altered. His body was locked, caught in a perpetual mirror of himself. Each attempt at movement he made reflected back at him, making him stationary.

Tenebris' voice slithered through the space. "Did you think illusions belonged only to you, Uchiha? "

A Genjutsu?

No. This was something else. It was as if his own existence had been rewritten within this space.

Outside, Gojo struggled against the crushing force pressing against him. He clenched his teeth, blood trickling from his lips. "Okay, that's enough of that."

With a flick of his wrist—

The Limitless reactivated.

In an instant, the crushing force reversed, sending Tenebris staggering backward. Gojo capitalized, vanishing and reappearing midair, aiming a devastating strike at the masked figure.

But the moment his fist connected—

He hit nothing.

The Eyes of the Abyss

The battlefield blurred, shifting between dimensions. The fractured sky pulsed as Tenebris' mask finally crumbled away.

Beneath it—

An abyss stared back.

No face. No flesh. Just an endless void where a human visage should be. And within that abyss, something stirred—a power older than time itself.

Gojo took a step back. Itachi's fingers twitched. For the first time in his life, even with the Mangekyō burning in his eyes, he felt the warning signs of something far beyond comprehension.

Tenebris spoke, and reality quaked.

"This world will soon forget you."

A wave of pure annihilation surged outward, consuming everything in its wake.
