Naruto: I Beat The Villagers And Made Them Scream

Chapter 47: The Troublesome Villagers

At first, Kakashi didn't pay much attention to the gazes he received, assuming it was just the villagers' fear of the Jinchūriki.

Naruto, on the other hand, had long since grown accustomed to such treatment.

As they arrived at a dango stall, Kakashi decided to buy something to fill their stomachs.

However, the moment the stall owner looked up and saw Naruto hesitating in front of the stall, his expression immediately twisted with disgust.

"You little demon fox brat, what are you doing here? You bring nothing but bad luck; no wonder business has been bad today!"

The stall owner shouted while waving his hand as if shooing away a fly. "Get lost already!"

Then, the stall owner turned and saw Kakashi standing beside Naruto, making his expression freeze instantly.

Kakashi didn't say a word, but there was a fleeting glint of killing intent in his eyes.

Over the years, he had heard rumors about how Naruto was treated, but he had always assumed it was just villagers keeping their distance out of fear of the Jinchūriki's power.

However, now that he was witnessing it firsthand, he realized that what Naruto had been enduring was not just alienation but outright malice.

"Who... who are you?"

The stall owner, an ordinary civilian, was completely overwhelmed by the mere hint of Kakashi's killing intent and stumbled backward in fear.

However, when he noticed Kakashi's forehead protector, his confidence returned. After all, in this village, there was a strict rule that ninjas were not allowed to harm civilians.

After regaining his courage, the stall owner loudly questioned: "Who are you to that demon fox brat? What do you want? Are you going to attack a civilian?"

The commotion began to attract a crowd. Though most were wary of Kakashi's status as a ninja and didn't dare approach, they whispered among themselves: "Who is that guy?"

"Never seen him around the demon fox brat before."

"Well, anyone who associates with that little monster can't be a good person."

"Shh, quiet down, he's a ninja!"

"So what if he's a ninja? What, is he going to beat us up in the middle of the village?"

"Hmph! Even if that cursed demon fox brat has a ninja backing him up, we shouldn't be afraid!"

"Yeah! As long as we stand together, Hokage-sama will support us!"

… … …

Kakashi heard every word of the murmuring crowd, and his expression darkened further.

This was the son of the fourth Hokage, the man who had sacrificed his life to protect them during the nine-tails rebellion, and yet they treated his child like this?

Thinking back to his own negligence toward Naruto over the years, Kakashi wanted to slap himself.

"Forget it, Kakashi-niisan, let's just go."

Naruto tugged at Kakashi's sleeve and whispered.

Kakashi looked down at him, then turned to glare at the stall owner. He didn't speak, but this time, he unleashed his killing intent without restraint.

The stall owner, who had just been acting arrogantly, instantly turned pale and stumbled backward in terror. Then he lost his balance, tripped over a chair, and fell flat on his backside.

After a few seconds, Kakashi withdrew his killing intent and turned to leave with Naruto.

However, the stall owner suddenly started wailing loudly: "Help! I'm being attacked! The demon fox brat and his companion are attacking a helpless civilian!"

The loud commotion quickly drew even more people, and soon, the street was packed with onlookers.

Kakashi's expression tightened as he saw the growing crowd and their hostile gazes. He instinctively pulled Naruto closer to him.

Just then, a voice cut through the noise from the edge of the crowd.

"What's going on here? Don't crowd together like this; you'll cause a stampede!"

The spectators turned to see a patrol squad from the Konoha military police arriving. Seeing them, the crowd quickly made a path for them.

Kakashi exhaled in relief when he recognized the leader of the patrol, Saito Uchiha.

The Konoha Military Police Force members began dispersing the crowd with their usual professional smiles while Saito approached Kakashi and gave him a respectful nod before turning to the stall owner.

"What happened here?" Saito asked seriously.

"Officer, you came just in time!"

The stall owner scrambled to his feet and began his complaint. "You need to arrest this ninja! He attacked me! He's with that demon fox brat! You should arrest them both!"

"Kakashi-niisan didn't hit you!" Naruto protested.

Saito turned to Kakashi. "Did you hit him?"

"No."

Kakashi answered succinctly.

Saito nodded and then addressed the stall owner. "You claim he attacked you. Do you have any proof?"

"I—I fell because of him!" The stall owner stammered, his confidence wavering.

"Go ask around. See if anyone witnessed this ninja attacking the civilian." Saito ordered his subordinates.

The police officers, still wearing their polite but professional smiles, began questioning the bystanders.

However, the outcome was obvious; while people might whisper their grievances in private, none of them dared to lie blatantly to the Konoha Military Police Force.

"Well?"

Saito asked, turning back to the stall owner.

"I—I... It was all a misunderstanding! A big misunderstanding!" The stall owner's confidence evaporated instantly, and he forced out an awkward laugh.

"Since it's just a misunderstanding..."

Saito said with a smirk: "Let's discuss your illegal street vending. How many times has the Konoha Military Police Force warned you not to set up shop on the sidewalk? Men, confiscate his stall and bring him in for questioning."

The stall owner panicked. "You're just bullying me because I'm a defenseless civilian! I'll report you to the Hokage's office!"

But his outburst meant nothing to the well-trained police officers. With their signature polite smiles, two uniformed officers calmly watched him until he ran out of breath from screaming.

Then, without hesitation, they seized his stall and dragged him off to the police station.

By now, the surrounding crowd had already dispersed, leaving the street relatively empty once more.

Saito turned to Kakashi. "Kakashi-senpai, I'm still on duty, so I won't hold you up any longer. If you ever encounter something like this again, just come straight to the Konoha Military Police Force."

"I understand. Thank you." Kakashi nodded, expressing his gratitude.
