Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Spider-Man's Invitation to Join a Team
In front of a 15-story old building in Brooklyn, Jason asked Peter, "Can you go up?"
"What?" Peter didn't understand what Jason meant, and Jason didn't explain.
He immediately used the "Eight Steps to Chase the Cicada" to infuse his legs with internal energy, and using the wall to gain leverage a few times, he flew to the roof of the fifteenth floor.
Peter was somewhat surprised at the strength of this night walker. Peter had the ability of biostatic electricity, so he could naturally climb up the wall. However, the action of climbing the wall was naturally not as cool as the one who flew up by stepping on the wall.
Peter hasn't built the machine that shoots spider silk yet, so he can only climb up to the fifteenth floor by climbing the wall, which is an ugly way.
Fortunately, it was midnight and there was no one on the street. There were also few residents in this old building, otherwise this way of climbing up the stairs would have been easy to discover.
"Next~!" Jason threw the coffee he had prepared long ago to Peter who had just climbed up.
In the United States, people under the age of 21 are not allowed to drink alcohol. Although Jason himself doesn't care, Peter is still a child.
"Oh, thank you." Peter took the coffee, which was his favorite brand.
"What do you think? If we can't find the murderer who hurt your uncle, will you just keep doing this? " Jason asked.
"Until you might anger the police, or provoke someone more powerful than me, and then get killed by them?"
"I don't want to cause trouble." Peter lifted his mask to reveal his mouth and took a sip of coffee, then said dryly, "It's just that I think I should do something for my uncle."
"So, this is what you did for your uncle?" Jason's tone was noncommittal. "Come out and cause trouble all day long?"
"But you seem to get into more trouble than me!" Peter counterattacked. He has gained special abilities these days, which makes him feel that he is unique, but he is depressed after being taught a lesson by Jason today.
"Maybe, but at least I deal with criminals with clear criminal tendencies." Jason said back. "Not like you, who just target certain people and abuse your extraordinary abilities."
Peter's face turned red under the mask. He had indeed been very foolish these past few days. Not only had he not found the real criminal, but he had also done a lot of stupid things.
"A friend of mine once told me that people with great abilities often carry equally great responsibilities." Peter said as he looked at Jason dressed as a night walker. "What do you think? Fighting criminals in the dark?"
"Fighting criminals is just a way of life for me. You can think of it as a hobby." Jason certainly couldn't say that it was for the purpose of completing mission upgrades.
"Someone has to step up to do something, such as preventing crime. This city has a population of 25 million. How many robberies, murders and sexual assaults happen in this city every day." Jason's ability to talk nonsense is getting stronger and stronger.
"So sometimes someone has to stand up and do something, just like your uncle . If someone stood up and helped him stop the criminal, then I think he might not have been hurt." Jason's words touched Peter.
It was because Peter did not stand up when he needed that his uncle was injured.
"Everyone may suffer misfortune, but if misfortune is simply transformed into hatred, it will only lead to more misfortune. Instead of regretting after misfortune strikes, it is better to nip it in the bud before it strikes!"
Jason almost vomited after hearing these words. It was just like the life coach in a superhero movie would say these words. But in order to educate Spider-Man, Jason could only say this.
Fortunately, Peter really fell for it, and was somewhat persuaded by Jason. "So this is why you help others stop crime?"
Jason shrugged, neither saying yes nor no. But Peter took this as Jason's tacit agreement.
"Then can I join? " Peter said after a moment of silence.
"What?!" Jason never expected Peter to make such a request.
"Can you let me join you? I'm actually okay, right? If you need an assistant to fight criminals, I think I can help." Peter said shyly.
"I think what you said is right. If someone had stood up to stop it, my uncle would not have been hurt. I want to stand up with you to stop crime."
Hey, hey! The director got the wrong script and lines! I just helped Peter get on the right track in life, not become his life mentor, let alone a babysitter for the new Spider-Man! Ah~ Hey!
Jason was just busy talking nonsense, how could he forget that Peter is still a middle school boy? Middle school boys are the most susceptible to heroism, especially Peter, who is essentially a man with a strong sense of justice.
Jason finally understood the true meaning of this sentence. He had to jump into the pit he dug himself even with tears in his eyes. Now the task of getting Spider-Man back on track has not been completed. If he refuses, it may make Spider-Man, who has just ignited hope, turn evil!
Not only would the mission not be completed, but he would also not be able to face the future Peter.
"Okay, let 's meet here at 11 o'clock tomorrow night." Jason said and left without looking back. The wind is so noisy today. I want to be alone.
"Peter, I'm sorry I didn't know your uncle had such a serious problem. Please forgive me for not coming to visit you." The next morning, Gwen came to the hospital and saw Peter guarding the bed and gave him a hug.
"It's okay, it's okay Gwen." Peter hugged Gwen and patted her shoulder.
"Let me introduce you. Gwen, this is my uncle Ben Parker, and Uncle Ben, this is my colleague Gwen Stacy."
"Hello Uncle Ben, you can just call me Gwen." Gwen smiled gently and shook hands with Uncle Ben.
"I heard Peter and Jason mention you. You are much prettier than in the photo." Uncle Ben smiled and winked at Gwen.
"Photos?" Gwen was puzzled. "On Peter's computer, he set up a lot of photos on his desktop." Uncle Ben immediately sold Peter's privacy to Gwen.
"Oh uncle, Gwen is not, not actually." Peter was instantly flustered by Uncle Ben's words.
"So you don't have a photo of me?" Gwen raised her eyebrows and said in a bad tone.
"Yes, oh~ Actually no, there were some, but they were taken as souvenir photos for the interns in the laboratory. Yes, they were taken as souvenir photos for the interns." Peter's lie was incoherent and he could only barely cover it up in the end.
"Ahaha~ So it's just taking pictures of interns." Gwen obviously didn't believe this and looked at Peter with a slightly suspicious look. But she didn't want to pursue anything. In fact, she really liked Peter's obsession with her, which made her heart beat faster again.
"Oh yes." Peter said, looking a little embarrassed.
"I'm sorry Gwen, I broke my promise. I was supposed to go to your house for dinner, but I...I'm sorry."
"No, Peter. Don't say that." Gwen said sympathetically. "Do you think you can have dinner with me peacefully when Uncle Ben is injured?"
Gwen stayed until noon before going home. After Gwen left, Uncle Ben said with a smile, "This girl is pretty good. Are you pursuing her? Then you have to work harder, Peter. Good girls are very popular."
"Oh, please, Uncle Ben." Peter felt uncomfortable facing Gwen the whole morning because of Uncle Ben's words.
In the afternoon, the fast food truck closed, and Jason also came to the hospital. The fast food truck's business is very stable now, with about $1,500 a day, plus Tony Stark comes every day to buy a burger and give a $500 tip.
When I came to the hospital to see Uncle Ben and Peter today, I found that Peter was in much better spirits today. It seems that yesterday's teaching of Spider-Man was effective, and the old Peter is back.
"Peter, you look pretty good today!" Jason greeted. "Yeah, I think so too." Peter said a little boastfully. "Because I met a really cool guy yesterday!"
Yeah~ You met a very cool guy, and I met a very troublesome chatterbox.
