Marvel : Copycat System

Chapter 3: System Functions

---

Kai Vale blinked, and in an instant, he found himself standing on the small mound he had been staring at moments earlier.

For a second, he stood there in disbelief. Then the realization hit him — he had actually teleported. His cautious smile turned into a triumphant laugh.

Before this moment, Kai hadn't fully believed the voice claiming to be his system. After all, this was the Marvel universe — hallucinations, mental manipulation, or illusions were all possible. But now, there was no doubt. Not only had he traveled through time, but he had also awakened a system. And his first copied weapon was none other than the Space Stone itself, disguised as the Cosmic Cube.

The implications were huge.

At first, after realizing he was in the Marvel universe, Kai's instinct was to stay far away from New York — or even leave the United States altogether. Too many disasters seemed to target this city like it was cursed. But now, with the Cube in his possession, he felt... safer.

He wasn't invincible, but at least he wouldn't die from a random street mugging or get caught in the crossfire of a supervillain battle without an escape plan.

Still, survival in this chaotic world required careful steps. Avoiding powerhouses like the Ancient One, Odin, or Thanos seemed like a wise plan for now.

His first goal? Visit his family and convince them to leave New York. The city was practically a magnet for destruction, and Kai had no intention of letting his loved ones become collateral damage.

Activating the Cube once more, Kai concentrated on teleporting to Chinatown. A familiar neighborhood, close to home.

Instead, he stumbled into a grimy alleyway far from his intended destination.

"Looks like I've got a long way to go before I master this," Kai muttered.

Recalling the system's earlier message, he remembered something about a reward.

"System," Kai asked, "what did you say about a gift package earlier?"

"The host has successfully duplicated a weapon, officially activating the system. As a reward, you've gained 1 reputation point and unlocked a beginner's gift package."

"Reputation?"

"Reputation points are awarded based on your actions in this world. Fame, heroics, or notable deeds will increase your reputation. Every time your reputation reaches a new digit — 10, 100, 1000, and so on — you'll unlock another gift package. Each one contains useful items or tools to aid you."

"So basically… you're encouraging me to become a superhero?" Kai mused.

It made sense. In a world full of larger-than-life figures, what better way to gain fame — and power — than by stepping into the role of a hero?

"Well, no sense overthinking it now," Kai muttered, retrieving the glowing gift package from his system storage. "Might as well see what I've got."

Pressing his palms together, Kai muttered a prayer — to whoever might be listening.

"Amitabha, God bless… Amen… whatever works. Please let it be something good."

He took a deep breath, blew into his hands, and shouted, "Open!"

A burst of dazzling light filled the alley. Kai squinted as his vision flooded with blinding brilliance. Unbeknownst to him, passersby outside the alley saw the flash and fled, shouting about explosions and mutants.

When the light finally dimmed, Kai blinked a few times to adjust. As the glowing haze cleared, his gaze settled on...

A toy remote control car.

And a Lenovo laptop.

Kai's face twisted in disbelief. "System… seriously? THIS is what you call 'useful'?"

Silence.

"You've got to be kidding me!" he groaned, clutching his head. "I risked everything for a toy car and an old laptop?"

Despite his frustration, he knelt down and grabbed both items.

"Fine. Whatever. Maybe there's more to them than meets the eye," he muttered, convincing himself there had to be some hidden purpose.

He emerged from the alley, cradling the laptop in one arm and clutching the toy car in the other. Spotting a familiar street corner, Kai sighed with relief — his family's home wasn't far now.

Meanwhile, back at the lab...

The institute's supervisor entered a dimly lit room deep within the facility. A lone table sat in the center, with nothing but a telephone on it.

He picked up the receiver and dialed a secure number.

"Sir," the supervisor reported, "there was an incident involving the Cosmic Cube. I've already sent the security footage to you."

At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Nick Fury sipped his coffee as his secretary entered.

"Sir," she said, "there's intel from New York Lab No. 3."

"Got it," Fury replied. "Leave it on my desk."

Once alone, Fury opened the file and replayed the footage.

The video showed Kai's feigned dizziness, his subtle brush against the Cosmic Cube — and the unmistakable flash of energy as he activated its power.

Fury's one good eye narrowed. "Get me everything you can on Kai Vale," he ordered.

Unaware that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director was now watching his every move, Kai trudged home, still irritated by his disappointing loot.

"Maybe this stupid toy car has lasers or something…" he muttered.

But deep down, he couldn't shake the feeling that his life had just become far more complicated than he'd ever imagined.
