Chapter 15: Kingpin's Death

---

When Kai Vale came out with the cheeseburger and placed it in front of Tony, Tony's eyes widened in surprise. His impression of Kai shifted immediately.

Watching Tony take big bites of the burger, Kai knew that with a few more encounters like this, he'd be able to get closer to him.

Once Tony finished, Pepper led him to say goodbye to Kai and his grandfather before they left. Happy called for the bodyguards to follow them in the SUV.

As Kai stood at the doorway watching them leave, a sharp slap landed on the back of his head.

"You brat! What did you 'do' back there? You nearly pissed off Tony Stark to the point where he almost left! Didn't I tell you to treat guests properly? If you scare them away, no one's coming back to eat here."

Kai rubbed the back of his head. 'Yeah, I saw that slap coming.'

"Alright, alright, I was wrong," Kai muttered. "But he's not mad anymore, so relax."

His grandfather scowled. "Really? You're still a headache for me at your age..."

Kai had no choice but to endure a ten-minute lecture about customer service, family values, and life lessons — none of which he was in the mood to hear.

Finally, when his grandfather paused to drink some water, Kai seized the moment.

"Alright! Dishes are cleaned, tables are wiped — I'm heading upstairs to rest!"

Before his grandfather could respond, Kai dashed upstairs to his room.

Lying on his bed, Kai grinned. Getting involved in promoting the restaurant turned out to be a great decision. Otherwise, he'd still be stressing about how to connect with Tony and get involved in the Marvel storyline.

Now that Tony and Pepper had visited the restaurant, Kai felt confident that with a few more interactions, they could become friends.

But before he could drift off, a voice rang in his ear.

"Master, I've detected suspicious activity outside. Your house is surrounded by armed thugs."

Kai bolted upright.

*Kingpin's men.*

But Gear, his AI assistant, quickly clarified.

"Negative, Master. These are just street-level gangsters, but they're armed and appear to be preparing to trash the restaurant."

Kai clenched his fists. He had already warned Kingpin once — clearly, the man hadn't taken him seriously.

"Alright," Kai growled. "If that's how he wants to play it..."

He grabbed his headphones and placed them on. "Gear, keep me updated."

With a flicker of energy, Kai activated his space manipulation powers and teleported all the gangsters underground, leaving them confused and disoriented.

"Clean up the mess," Kai instructed Gear, then teleported toward Fisk Tower.

"Gear, hack into their security feeds," Kai ordered. "Mask any unusual activity and pinpoint Kingpin's exact location."

Two minutes later, Gear's voice returned.

"Master, Kingpin is in his office on the top floor."

Kai smirked and teleported directly to the top floor.

---

Kingpin, deeply engrossed in reviewing some documents, didn't notice Kai's sudden arrival.

By the time Kingpin reached for the pistol in his drawer, Kai was already surveying the lavish office.

"Wow," Kai muttered with a grin. "Now *this* is a proper villain's office. Looks like I need to remodel mine."

Seizing the moment, Kingpin grabbed his pistol and fired three rapid shots.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

But Kai was already gone.

"Looking for me?"

Kai's voice came from behind him.

Kingpin spun around, his face hardening. He dropped the gun and prepared for a brawl.

But Kai wasn't about to give him the chance. With a flick of his fingers, Kai teleported across the room, maintaining a safe distance.

The guards outside, hearing the gunshots, rushed into the office with their weapons drawn.

"Shoot everything!" Kingpin barked. "Don't leave a single spot untouched!"

The room erupted in gunfire.

Kai, through Gear's surveillance, confirmed that all of Kingpin's men were present. Smirking, Kai glanced at Kingpin.

"Bad move," Kai whispered.

Just before the hail of bullets reached him, Kai vanished.

Kingpin instinctively turned around, remembering how Kai had appeared behind him earlier.

Sure enough, there he was.

Before Kingpin could react, Kai activated his power again and teleported him directly to the center of the room.

With a final flick, Kai teleported all the bodyguards into a circle around Kingpin.

Confused and panicked, the gunmen instinctively opened fire — on each other.

Within seconds, the room fell silent. Only Kingpin's lifeless body remained in the chaos.

"Wipe the security footage," Kai ordered.

"Already done," Gear confirmed.

Kai returned home, took off his clothes, and hopped into the shower.

"Yeah… good work," he muttered with a satisfied sigh.

---

The next morning, Kai was still half-asleep when his phone rang.

"Hey, Kai," Matt Murdock's voice came through. "You hear about the shootout at Fisk Tower last night?"

"Oh?" Kai yawned. "Nah, I was asleep all night. What happened?"

"Not sure yet," Matt said. "But word is, something big went down on the top floor."

Kai kept his tone casual. "Huh. Guess I'll check the news later."

He hung up and turned on the TV.

Sure enough, reporters were broadcasting live from the scene, speculating on the mysterious events of the previous night.

Kai turned off the TV with a smile.

Just then, a familiar system prompt rang in his head.

**"Ding! Congratulations, host! Your reputation has increased to 10 points. You have received a new gift package. Please check your system space."**

Excited, Kai opened the system space and pulled out the gift package.

This time, instead of tearing into it right away, Kai paused. He took a shower, changed his clothes, and sat down calmly in front of the gift box.

Eyes closed, he clasped his hands together.

"Dear heavens, gods, Buddha, Jesus... anyone who's listening… please, let this be something good."

Taking a deep breath, Kai reached out and opened the package.

A flash of light burst from the box, revealing…

A stone.

And a branch.

Kai stared blankly at his so-called reward.

"...What the hell?"
