Kai Vale sat on his bed, replaying the day's battle in his mind. He realized that every time he tried to open a portal, he instinctively raised his hands — a clear giveaway to his target.

This flaw made Kai reflect. His combat experience still wasn't enough. If Bullseye could catch on so easily, what about someone even stronger?

Determined to improve, Kai decided to make changes. First, he needed to practice using his portal powers without any noticeable movement. Second, he had to train his fighting skills to blend teleportation seamlessly into combat.

"Gear, remind me to practice my powers every night from now on," Kai said.

"Got it, Master," Gear replied.

With his new plan set, Kai decided to delay confronting Kingpin. After Bullseye's disappearance, Kingpin would be on edge, making it harder to get close to him. Waiting for Kingpin to lower his guard seemed like the smarter move.

Meanwhile, at Fisk Tower...

"Boss, there was a fight near the building earlier," one of Kingpin's men reported. "We found traces of a scuffle and some blood, but no sign of Bullseye. Surveillance footage was wiped clean."

Kingpin crushed his cigar into the ashtray. "Test the blood," he ordered coldly. "Find Bullseye and bring him to me."

The thug nodded and left quickly, eager to get away before Kingpin's temper flared.

At SHIELD headquarters, Nick Fury reviewed a report from his agents. Evidence suggested Kai had abilities that could make people vanish — and an ally who was skilled at wiping security footage. Fury knew they were closing in on Kai's secrets.

While all this unfolded, Kai remained unaware that both SHIELD and Kingpin's forces were closing in on him.

The next day, Kai visited Ethan to tell him about Matt's injury. Ethan, worried about their friend, suggested they visit him together — and also saw it as a chance to ask Matt to join his company as chief legal advisor.

The two stopped to buy some supplements and made their way to Matt's apartment.

"Hey, Matt," Kai greeted as they entered. "I heard you were hurt, so Ethan and I wanted to check on you."

Facing Matt, Kai gave him a subtle look, silently warning him not to say too much. Matt caught on right away.

"Oh, nothing serious," Matt said casually. "Thanks for stopping by."

Ethan, oblivious to the hidden exchange, chimed in. "Good to hear. But what happened? Was it bad?"

"It's no big deal," Matt reassured him. "Just need a few days to recover."

They chatted for a while before Kai mentioned Ethan's proposal.

"Matt, Ethan's hoping you'll join his company as their legal advisor," Kai explained. "No fixed hours or commitments — just legal guidance when they need it."

Matt was about to reply when Kai interrupted.

"No rush," Kai said. "Take your time to think about it."

They decided to grab some food at Kai's restaurant. On the way through Hell's Kitchen, a group of gangsters appeared, blocking their path.

"Looks like Kingpin's goons," Kai muttered.

The gangsters surrounded them, guns in hand. Kingpin had learned about Kai's visit to Matt and ordered his men to intercept.

Seeing the loaded weapons, Kai knew there was no time to fight and protect his friends. He swiftly opened a portal, teleporting Ethan and Matt to a nearby street.

"Matt, take care of Ethan for me. I'll deal with this," Kai instructed before turning back to face the gangsters.

This time, Kai didn't hold back. Fueled by anger over the threat to his friends, he fought fiercely, showing no mercy. The gangsters never stood a chance.

Still seething, Kai called Gear.

"Gear, can you hack into Fisk Tower's system?"

"Easy," Gear replied.

"Good. Tap into Kingpin's computer. I want to talk to him directly."

Moments later, Kingpin's screen flickered, then Kai's face appeared.

"Ah," Kingpin said calmly. "The young man who took down Bullseye."

Kai's glare hardened. "This is your last warning — leave me, my friends, and my family alone. Or I'll make sure you end up like Bullseye."

Kingpin's smile widened. "So you did kill him."

"Remember what I said," Kai warned. "If you come after me again, you won't get another chance."

Then the screen went black.
