Marvel : Copycat System

Chapter 1: Cosmic Cube

---

"Professor, Kai is sick!"

A shout echoed down the corridor.

Kai Vale, who had just woken up, felt disoriented. Wasn't he just in the university lab hallway? Why was he suddenly sitting on the floor?

No... he was still in a corridor, but the surroundings had changed. The warm sunlight was gone, replaced by cold, sterile lighting.

This realization jolted him awake. He wasn't in his school's laboratory building anymore. Confused and slightly panicked, Kai wondered if he was still dreaming.

Before he could make sense of it, an elderly white man approached him with concern. "Kai, are you alright? Where do you feel uncomfortable?"

Kai stared at the man, stunned. They were speaking English, and everyone around him looked foreign.

Just as he was about to respond, a sudden surge of unfamiliar memories flooded his mind. The pressure built rapidly, swelling until his head throbbed painfully. Groaning, Kai clutched his head and stayed frozen on the ground, waiting for the pain to pass.

The people around him panicked.

"Should we send him back to the dorm?" someone suggested.

"He's really not fit to continue working like this. He should rest."

"I can't believe Kai's sick before we even get started. What bad timing."

While they whispered, Kai sifted through the memories now swirling in his mind. It became clear—he had somehow traveled to another world. Not just any world, but one straight out of Marvel lore.

The realization shook him. This wasn't some prank; he had landed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—a world filled with superheroes, villains, and catastrophic threats. And worse still, his new identity belonged to a man also named Kai Vale, a native New Yorker.

New York… in the Marvel universe. Suddenly, the idea of surviving here seemed far worse than whatever fate awaited him back home.

Determined, Kai decided to leave immediately. He needed to get his family out of the city before things inevitably spiraled out of control.

As he attempted to stand, Professor Chris Scotch, the elderly man from before, gently stopped him.

"Kai, you're not well. Why don't you head home for the day? There will be other opportunities."

Kai paused. He recognized Professor Chris from his memories—a well-respected academic who had invited him to assist in a special research project.

Moments before the headache hit, Kai remembered asking Professor Chris about the research topic. The professor had casually mentioned:

"Oh, I'm not entirely sure myself. They said it's some kind of blue, translucent cube... packed with enormous energy."

Those words hit Kai like a thunderclap. A blue, glowing cube with immense power? That sounded exactly like the Cosmic Cube—the early form of the Space Stone.

But wait... wasn't the Cosmic Cube supposed to be in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession? If it was here instead, that could only mean one thing: this facility was tied to S.H.I.E.L.D.

For a brief moment, Kai debated leaving. The Marvel universe was dangerous, and he wasn't eager to gamble with his life. But the Cosmic Cube... this was a rare chance. He might never get this close again.

"I'm fine, Professor," Kai said, forcing a smile. "I just felt a little dizzy earlier, but I'm good now. If I missed this opportunity, I'd regret it."

Professor Chris seemed reassured. "Alright, if you're sure. Stay close."

Kai fell in line with the group as they moved deeper down the corridor. A familiar face walked beside him—his college roommate.

"Are you sure you're okay?" his friend asked.

"I'm good," Kai assured him.

Soon, they reached a secured room at the end of the hallway. Before they could knock, the door opened from the inside.

That confirmed Kai's suspicion—they were being monitored.

A stern-looking agent checked their IDs one by one before allowing them inside. The space was larger than Kai expected, filled with researchers in white coats moving busily from one workstation to another. In the center of the room stood a raised platform, and on it rested the object that had drawn him here.

The Cosmic Cube.

The instant Kai laid eyes on it, a robotic voice echoed in his mind:

"Ding. Congratulations to the host for activating the Weapon Duplication System. Please touch the nearest weapon within one hour to officially activate the system."

Kai's eyes widened. Whatever this system was, it had just turned his Marvel nightmare into an opportunity.
