Comics multiverse: Reborn as a special mutant

Chapter 4: Chapter 3: preferential treatment at the cafeteria

Looking at Norin's perfect face, kind smile, and the invisible aura surrounding him, Kate ended up running away.

This was unheard of for a typical European-American girl.

She made up an excuse and bolted from the classroom.

Once in the hallway, Katie took a few deep breaths to calm herself. Her flushed face slowly returned to normal.

"Kate, Kate, why did you chicken out at the critical moment?"

"You've embarrassed all women!"

She scolded herself, feeling deeply ashamed of her actions.

She never thought this day would come.

This had never happened before with anyone else. She could always talk to people calmly.

But for some reason, every time she was near Norin, her heart raced, her breathing quickened, and she even felt the urge to pounce on him.

So crazy and so unbelievable!

Could this be the legendary love at first sight?

At least she didn't completely lose face. Before running away, she had boldly kissed him.

That feeling was incredible. She had never experienced anything like it in her entire life.

Amazing!

No, it was heart-stopping!

Her heart was pounding so fast!

And…

"What's that scent? Norin has a unique, light fragrance. It doesn't smell like perfume. Is it his natural scent?"

The aroma was intoxicating, driving her wild with desire.

"Kate, are you okay? You don't look so good."

While Kate was still lost in thoughts of Norin's perfect face, a gentle voice interrupted her.

She looked up to see Peter, one of the school's top students.

Codenamed Colossus, he could transform his body into steel, making him invulnerable to swords, guns, water, and fire. He also possessed immense strength.

"I'm fine, Peter."

Kate shook her head, not in the mood to talk further.

In the past, she wouldn't have minded chatting with him.

Peter was a well-known figure at school. He excelled academically and had powerful abilities, earning praise from professors and teachers.

Rumors said Peter was being considered for the X-Men, and he might join the team at any moment.

That was the dream of almost everyone at the school.

Anyone with decent mutant abilities wanted to join the X-Men and become a hero who protected the school and admired by many.

But now that Norin was here, the other boys suddenly seemed unappealing.

"Really? I saw you talking to Norin earlier. Are you sure you're okay?"

Peter sounded concerned, glancing at Norin, who was deep in thought in the classroom.

Katie's voice rose slightly, showing a hint of impatience. "Peter, you're a good person, and you're very kind, but there are some things you just don't get. I just remembered something—I have to go."

With that, Katie turned and left.

Peter stood there, confused.

What didn't he understand? He was practically an adult.

He remembered Kate as a gentle person, kind even to dogs. Why had she acted so differently toward him today?

He was just trying to be nice.

In the classroom, Norin carefully recalled the moment. Honestly, it hadn't felt like much.

It happened so fast—just a brief touch before she pulled away.

He hadn't expected Kate to flee afterward.

He had wanted to talk to her about something, maybe even go further and have a deeper conversation.

But before he could even use his charm, Kate couldn't handle it.

Norin was sure he hadn't actively flirted with her.

It seemed Katie had gotten carried away on her own? All they did was chat.

To be honest, Norin was starting to realize just how powerful his looks and abilities were.

It was almost ridiculous.

If he'd had this ability in his previous life, he probably wouldn't have had to work so hard.

"Maybe in this world, I don't have to work hard at all?"

The thought crossed his mind, but Norin quickly pushed it away. "No, no, I still need to put in some effort. At the very least, I need to make myself visible to powerful women, and then… live off their generosity?"

Norin shook his head, stood up, and walked out.

This class was the last one of the morning, and it was time to head to the cafeteria for lunch.

Unlike schools in his previous life, where you had to sprint to the cafeteria the moment the bell rang or risk waiting in long lines—or even losing your seat—Xavier School was different.

Mutants were a minority, after all.

And Charles didn't just bring back every mutant he came across.

As a result, the entire school had a small number of students. Including teachers, staff, and others, there were only about a hundred people.

With more people, Charles wouldn't be able to afford it financially. The school wasn't for profit, and the investment in mutant education far exceeded that of ordinary schools.

On top of that, there were the X-Men to support, along with various research projects and base construction—all of which required real money.

So Norin wasn't in a hurry. He walked leisurely, passing through walls and doors when there were no direct paths.

This was Kate's ability. The kiss earlier had allowed him to temporarily copy her power, and he was using it effortlessly.

It felt amazing—a must-have for anyone who loved convenience.

No detours, no unnecessary door-opening. Just go straight through.

When he arrived at the cafeteria, Norin didn't bother with the line. He walked straight to the serving window and smiled.

"Thank you. One fried chicken and one mashed potatoes, please."

His sunny smile was, in the eyes of the cafeteria lady, the best reward in the world.

She quickly served him the largest, best-looking piece of fried chicken and scooped a generous portion of mashed potatoes onto his plate.

In the gentlest voice she could muster, she said, "Young man, if you're still hungry, come back to me. I'll save some for you, and I'll make sure it's hot."

"Thanks."

Norin smiled and nodded before turning to leave.

He had only taken two steps when he heard the cafeteria lady's sharp voice behind him.

"What do you want? Can't you see I'm busy?"

When Norin glanced back, he saw a mutant student standing at the window, looking utterly wronged.

The student had only smiled and called out softly, but for some reason, it was as if he'd insulted the cafeteria lady's entire family. She scolded him harshly, leaving him bewildered.

The cafeteria lady ignored the student but immediately softened when she noticed Norin looking her way.

As soon as Norin turned his head, her expression turned fierce again, and the poor student scurried off to another window.

Norin didn't pay much attention to the scene. He was slowly getting used to his overwhelming charm.

Scanning the cafeteria, he didn't see Katie anywhere.

Just as he wondered where she'd gone, a petite figure caught his eye.
