Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Dungeon Outbreak

A Normal Day in Town

The town was alive with its usual rhythm.

Merchants loudly advertised their goods.

The blacksmith's hammer clanged against steel.

Adventurers gathered at the guild, forming parties for dungeon raids.

Children ran through the streets, laughing as they played.

Ainz sat at his usual spot in the tavern, sipping a mild ale. Across from him, Garron, a burly warrior with a thick beard, laughed at one of his own jokes.

"So there I was, face-to-face with a dungeon lizard, and you won't believe what happened next—"

BOOM!

A massive shockwave tore through the air, rattling the tavern walls.

The laughter vanished.

Glasses shattered on the floor.

Ainz's heart clenched as he felt something strange—an overwhelming, unnatural energy.

Then—

DONG! DONG! DONG!

The emergency bells rang, their deafening clang cutting through the stunned silence.

Dungeon Outbreak: The Worst-Case Scenario

Ainz rushed outside.

Smoke rose from the eastern gates.

From the guild, adventurers scrambled into action. Knights sprinted toward the walls, their armor clanking as they drew their weapons.

"What's happening?!" someone yelled.

Then the Guildmaster's voice boomed across the plaza.

"A dungeon outbreak! All capable adventurers, to the eastern gate!"

Gasps and curses filled the streets.

Ainz's eyes narrowed.

A dungeon outbreak.

Dungeons were supposed to be stable. They were maintained by the Organization, ensuring that monsters stayed inside unless adventurers cleared them out.

But when a dungeon became unstable—either because too many monsters accumulated or something disrupted its core—

It would burst open, releasing all its creatures into the real world.

And this wasn't just any outbreak.

Ainz could feel it.

Something was wrong.

Chaos at the Eastern Gate

By the time Ainz reached the gate, the battle had already begun.

Arrows rained down from the walls.

Mages hurled fireballs into the horde.

Knights clashed with monsters, their swords flashing.

But the enemy forces were overwhelming.

Orcs and goblins poured out, their eyes glowing red.

Dark wolves prowled the edges, waiting for a chance to strike.

Huge lizard-like creatures snapped at knights, their teeth crushing metal.

Ainz's gaze moved to the dungeon entrance.

It was cracked open wider than normal.

A thick, unnatural miasma poured out, creeping over the ground like black smoke.

"That's… not normal."

Whatever had caused this outbreak, it wasn't just a buildup of monsters.

Something far worse had awakened.

Ainz Enters the Battlefield

An orc roared and swung its massive axe at a young adventurer.

"No!" the adventurer raised his arms in fear—

SHING!

Ainz blurred forward, his hand glowing.

"Regeneration Seal."

CRACK!

The orc stiffened. Its veins glowed with green energy, then burst. It collapsed, its body rapidly decaying.

The young adventurer stared in shock.

"Y-You… who—?"

Ainz ignored him. More monsters charged.

"Tch." He sighed.

If he wanted to keep his strength hidden, he'd have to be careful.

But he couldn't stand by and watch the town fall.

The Power of a Hidden Monster

Ainz flicked his wrist.

The air shimmered as he activated his Elemental Manipulation.

"Inferno Wave."

FOOOOM!

A wide arc of searing fire exploded from his feet, consuming dozens of monsters.

Screams echoed through the battlefield as the tide turned.

More adventurers pushed forward, inspired by Ainz's attack.

Knights rallied, their swords cutting through the stunned monsters.

Mages focused their spells, burning and freezing the enemies.

Archers rained precise shots, taking out the remaining creatures.

It was working.

But then—

BOOM!

A deep, guttural roar shook the battlefield.

The dungeon entrance trembled.

And from the shadows—

Something emerged.

The Dungeon Boss Appears

It wasn't just another monster.

A towering eight-foot giant, covered in obsidian armor.

Red, glowing eyes, burning with intelligence.

A massive greatsword, radiating dark energy.

The very air grew heavy.

The adventurers froze.

"T-The boss… it came outside?"

No dungeon boss was supposed to leave its dungeon.

This thing had broken the rules.

It raised its massive blade.

Then—

BOOM!

A shockwave blasted through the battlefield.

Ainz barely dodged in time. The impact tore through the knights' formation, sending bodies flying.

This wasn't an ordinary dungeon boss.

It was stronger. Far stronger.

Ainz narrowed his eyes.

"This thing… it's like a raid boss."

Ainz vs. The Dungeon Boss

The creature charged.

Its sword cleaved through stone, cutting through buildings like paper.

Its movements were fast, despite its massive size.

Its power was overwhelming.

Ainz barely dodged.

He clenched his fists.

"If I hold back too much, I'll die. If I go all out, people will notice."

He exhaled.

"Fine… I'll do just enough to survive."

The dungeon boss roared and swung down.

Ainz raised a hand.

"Elemental Manipulation: Frost Domain."

CRACK!

A wave of freezing mist erupted from Ainz's body, coating the battlefield in ice.

The boss's sword stopped inches from Ainz's head, frozen mid-swing.

The monster strained, its limbs locking up.

"Got you." Ainz's eyes glowed.

"Regeneration Seal—Reverse Activation."

The boss howled. Its own vitality began draining away, its body crumbling.

But it wouldn't go down that easily.

With a deafening shout, it shattered the ice, breaking free.

Ainz grinned.

"This might actually be fun."
