Chapter 34: Su Chen, From Now On, I’ve Got Your Back:

When the afternoon drew near dismissal, the whole affair with Yin Renjie had finally come to an end. 

Amid the furious rebukes and blockade by all the school’s girls, and with the support of their parents, the principal promptly decided to fire Yin Renjie. 

Then, Chen Rong gathered all the girls’ underwear recovered from Yin Renjie. If Yin Renjie thought that merely dismissing him would put an end to this, Chen Rong would show him just how naive he was.

After the girls had wrapped up the Yin Renjie incident, though still fuming, they knew that classes must go on, so they all returned to their classrooms. 

If it weren’t for the fact that Sunshine Noble School boasted the best teaching staff in Haishi, these girls and their families might have ended up causing the school’s downfall. Naturally, the girls did not forget about Su Chen and rushed over to his class to thank him.

First, she noticed a pile of girls’ underwear on her desk. She instantly recognized it as the portion Su Chen had been holding earlier. 

Grabbing a bag, she packed up all the underwear as evidence for the lawsuit against Yin Renjie. Then, she walked over to Su Chen’s desk and stood there.

After a brief moment of quiet as he studied, Su Chen looked up and, to his surprise, saw Chen Rong. 

She was tall with a graceful figure and a strikingly beautiful face. In that instant, he locked eyes with the turbulent, passionate intensity in Chen Rong’s gaze. A flush of awkwardness crept over Su Chen’s face as he raised his eyes to meet hers. Could it be that Chen Rong had also come to thank him? 

He hadn’t expected this class leader to be so courteous!

Just as Su Chen was about to offer his trademark silly smile to brush off her thanks, Chen Rong laughed cheerfully and gave his desk a forceful slap—sending his books and water cup nearly tumbling to the floor. 

“Su Chen, you really did well this time,” she said. “If it weren’t for you, we girls would never have caught that thief who stole our underwear! Su Chen, I apologize—we never understood you before and even had some misconceptions about you. But through today’s events, it is clear that you, Su Chen, are someone with a righteous heart and a genuine desire to help your classmates. Su Chen, I hereby officially notify you: from now on, I’ve got your back. In the future, if anyone dares to hassle you, I, Chen Rong, will not let them get away with it.”

As Chen Rong spoke, she cast a glance at those boys who had previously cursed Su Chen. They immediately lowered their heads and pretended to study seriously. 

Who would dare provoke such a leader! 

Not to mention her family’s mafia background—and even solely with her own abilities, Chen Rong could take down several boys. At the same time, the girls in the class loudly declared, “Yes, Su Chen, from now on you are our class’s good friend. If anyone dares to trouble you, we will definitely not let them off!”

Su Chen was stunned. 

He had never expected that Chen Rong was not there to thank him but to announce that from now on she would be looking out for him. 

Glancing around at the other girls extending their kindness toward him, a tinge of emotion crossed his eyes. Who would have thought that merely exposing Yin Renjie for stealing girls’ underwear would earn him such enthusiasm from his female classmates—especially from Chen Rong. 

Su Chen looked again into her steady gaze. Ever since he could remember, no one had ever stood before him and declared they would protect him—not in the orphanage, and not even after returning to the Su family.

Su Chen set aside the courteous smile he had been offering to the other girls and said earnestly, “Alright, Chen Rong, then thank you very much.” Chen Rong patted his shoulder and laughed cheerfully. “A boy, why be so timid and keep thanking me?” she teased. “Alright, I’m heading back to my seat now.”

At this moment, Su Chen did not notice the resentful look coming from Su Mu. Su Mu had always wanted a closer relationship with Chen Rong, as her beauty and figure were among the best at Sunshine Noble School. 

However, Chen Rong had never given Su Mu an opportunity; she had always been polite to him. Unexpectedly, she now declared that from now on she would have Su Chen’s back. Although this did not imply any intimacy, Su Mu resented it bitterly.

after returning to the Su family villa, the family sat down for dinner. At the table, Su Zhenxing frowned and said to Su Chen with displeasure, “Su Chen, we all know what you did today. Though you meant well, you must be more careful in the future. Do not get involved in such messy affairs again—especially not with things like stealing girls’ underwear and so on. Su Mu quickly smiled and urged, “Father, Mother, please do not blame your older brother. Your older brother has only been with the Su family for two years. There are taboos in our Su family—things we should not do—and your older brother is still learning them. In time, he will understand.” 

Then, Su Mu looked at Su Chen with a proud glance. Being popular with the girls at school meant nothing if you were not the one who was recognized and valued in our Su family!
