Chapter 341:Shopping [4]
Alternating gazes between his exquisite watch and the ruby pendant below the glass, Ren couldn't help but halt.
They matched each other so perfectly.
However, before Ren could even walk backward and get a better look at the pendant, an employee suddenly stepped forward, blocking Ren's view of the accessory.
Stepping in front of the glass table where the pedant was located, the employee said to a person that Ren could not see.
"You would like to purchase this one?"
Sighing and shaking his head, Ren turned back around to face the exit of the store, where Jin and Han were standing.
It seemed that it had caught the eye of someone else in his class.
At least Raven would be happy.
Smirking, Ren took out his smartwatch and quickly texted.
[Ren: Are you proud of me? I held back on purchasing today!]
[Raven: What am I, your father? What do you mean 'am I proud of you?']
[Ren: I was being sarcastic, dumbass.]
[Raven: Just tell me how much you spent so I can add it to our expenses for the month.]
Staring at that last text message in his chat history, Ren put down his smartwatch and caught up to his two friends.
[Raven: ???]
[Raven: Hello???]
[Raven: Just tell me, I won't be mad.]
[Raven: Say something.]
Stay connected through My Virtual Library Empire
[Raven: ????????]
[Raven: I promise I won't be mad; you just have to tell me how much you spent so I can finish up some paperwork, alright?]
[Raven: Ren???]
Ignoring the countless text notifications popping up on his smartwatch, Ren muttered.
"Not my father, are you?"
As the three boys walked back towards the dorm building with their bags of clothing in hand, Ren suddenly halted.
Since class was out early...they didn't have to eat lunch in the cafeteria!
Putting each of his hands on Han and Jin's shoulders, Ren smiled before announcing.
"Lunch is on me!"
Like Charlotte, he was now an official resident of the royal dormitories, so he could now bring guests in.
Surprised at the prospect of Ren paying, Jin glanced behind at Ren and asked.
"Are we heading to the capital city for lunch?"
"Even better."
Before Han could even question him, Ren suddenly stepped forward, taking the lead and guiding the two boys toward the royal dormitory.
As they entered the forests around the dorm and the gate came into view, Han finally seemed to realize what Ren was planning.
Halting and stepping in front of Ren and Jin, Han stretched out his hands to the right and left, blocking the path forward.
"Leaving the academy is one thing...everyone does it. But can we just break into another dorm to get lunch?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Ren ducked under Han's outstretched arms and continued walking towards the royal dormitory.
"Who's breaking in? Didn't you know? I was rewarded quite well for the placement in the battle royale."
Before Han could even begin to speculate or reply, Jin burst by Han and replied.
"Oh, that? Han and I both got dorm upgrades, too! Not only that but we got given ten gold coins each."
Pausing for a moment mid-sentence, Jin seemed to think before eventually continuing.
"Oh, wait, we never asked you what you got, did we?"
Nodding his head and making eye contact with Han, Ren pointed backward at the royal dormitory building and responded.
"I got that!"
As the three boys approached the security gate that surrounded the royal dormitory, Ren went ahead and talked to the guards.
Surprisingly, they didn't seem to care about him bringing in guests, as it was still daytime.
Thus, three boys, looking completely out of place amongst the luxurious and expensive decorations of the royal dormitory, could be seen sitting at a table.
Staring at the chicken bowl in front of him, Jin couldn't help but let a tear trickle down his face.
However...Han was different.
Without even picking up his utensils and leaving the food on the table, Han furiously turned to Ren.
"YOU BASTARD, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ENJOYING THIS FOOD ALONE!? JIN, ARE YOU SERIOUSLY FINE WITH THIS!?"
"..."
Shocked at Han's outburst, Ren simply sat there, staring at him with a blank expression.
Jin did the same, holding up a spoonful of perfectly grilled chicken while staring at Han.
This was the first time Han had...yelled at them.
Seeing Ren at a loss for words and unable to respond while Jin was continuing to eat the food in front of him, Han stood up and continued.
"YOU MAKE ME SICK! WE'RE OUT HERE EATING SLOP WHILE YOU'RE EATING THIS...EVERY DAY NOW!? YOU SUBJECTED US TO THAT HELLISH CAFETERIA AND GATEKEPT THIS!?"
Glancing around and making sure no one else was in the cafeteria, Ren desperately pointed at the bowl in front of Han.
"Too sick...to eat?"
Staying silent, with his eyes still blazing full of anger, Han reluctantly sat down and began eating the food.
Picking up a spoonful of food, Han didn't break eye contact once with Ren as he raised the food to his mouth.
Letting a dry cough, Ren sighed and said.
"I don't know if you two will ever be able to forgive me...but...."
Pausing mid-sentence and drawing the attention of his two friends, Ren put his hand into his pocket before eventually taking it back out.
And, there is Ren's extended palm was the exact same item that Charlotte had given to him.
[Royal Dormitory Visitor Pass]
Since he was now an official resident of the dorm, Ren had no need for it; however, Han and Jin would be able to abuse it to get unlimited free food.
Snatching the pass out of Ren's hand, Han continued staring at daggers while begging to eat the chocolate cake dessert.
Ren did understand his point of view.
Han and Jin were the ones who had given him the method to leave the academy without any repercussions.
Ren had used that very method countless times, and the two never asked for any payment.
However, here he was, withholding information from them.
