Chapter 60
Chapter 60: Dark Demon’s Dilemma
The first class of the afternoon.
Potion-making…
In the first thirty minutes of this class, Professor Thompson instructed the students on how to review the production of “Speed Mana Elixir.”
For the next hour, he taught the production of a regular version of the “Mana Recovery Elixir.”
Wit and Robert made multiple mistakes due to their restless state of mind, causing quite a few humorous incidents.
Dark, however, completed the potion-making task rather smoothly. With Professor Thompson’s permission, he then patiently taught the clumsy Diana.
In terms of potion preparation, Diana was even less capable than the meticulous Rose. Despite her great patience, not all potions could be made with slow and careful work.
Most potions had specified time limits for preparation. Once the time limit was exceeded, some processed materials would become ineffective.
Professor Thompson, in principle, encouraged students to help each other. Of course, if you couldn’t do it yourself and didn’t have any friends to help you, there was nothing to be done.
While teaching Diana, Dark suddenly noticed that Emma, despite her disdainful expression, actually began helping her classmates.
It seemed that the tea party over the weekend had a significant impact on her. At least, it helped her learn how to interact with others.
…
After the end of the potion class.
Dark did not go directly to the library as usual but stayed in the classroom for a while.
He only felt disappointed and headed to the library when he saw Wit and Robert choosing to go towards the Knight Academy Tower.
Today, Professor Thompson assigned an essay about the “Mana Recovery Elixir,” which would take at least an hour to complete.
After finding the necessary references, Dark started writing his essay.
The difference between the “Mana Recovery Elixir” and the “Speed Mana Elixir” lies in the former’s ability to restore mana steadily and in large quantities. If these elixirs were infused into mana cards, they could create charging magic cards similar to Emma’s “Gold Coin x3.”
Dark incorporated his thoughts and completed a well-balanced essay.
At the same time, he began considering whether to add one or two charging magic cards to his deck.
…
In the common room of the Knight Academy,
After finishing a game of mana chess, Wit and Robert packed up the board after a long silence.
On the way to the library, Robert couldn’t help but ask, “Wit, are you really going to stop using that flower card?”
Wit looked unusually dejected, “What else? Professor Kazel has made it clear; if I get caught again, it won’t just be a fifty-point deduction.”
Robert turned his head to look around, and seeing no one nearby, said, “But we used it successfully this morning. As long as we don’t provoke the professors, ordinary students won’t notice. And the lock on the card…”
“Speaking of the lock,” Wit suddenly said, “I found out that Dark Demon is really a good person.”
Robert was taken aback, “How so?”
Wit, “Do you know who was in the office when I got scolded at noon?”
Robert, “Besides Professor Kazel, who else?”
“It wasn’t just the professor,” Wit sighed, “Dark was also there! If he hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t have been able to withstand the pressure from the professor. I think he purposely went to the office to ease the atmosphere as a third party.”
Robert was surprised, “Wait, Wit, how did you come to this conclusion? Is Dark really that good?”
Wit shook his head, “Don’t say that, we don’t really know him. Perhaps the greeting in the morning had some effect.”
Robert, “But your liking has decreased!”
Wit, “Liking fluctuates. It’s just temporary!”
Robert, “Let’s check again, he must be in the library.”
Wit, “No, I won’t use it again.”
Robert, “But don’t you want to know how much Senior Pandora likes you?”
Wit, “I…”
…
Under Robert’s questioning, Wit became indecisive again.
“Just use it once, as long as it’s not discovered…”
“I’ve used it several times in the morning, and no one noticed.”
“Just don’t use it on the professors…”
Robert leaned in, suggestively, “Just one more time!”
…
However, when Wit arrived at the library with great resolve, he found out that Senior Pandora wasn’t there today.
He felt both disappointed and relieved at the same time.
But his obvious change in expression made Robert realize that his friend might indeed be in love.
…
In the reading room…
After completing his potion-making essay, Dark planned to return to the dormitory to check on the worm tree and the cat plant.
But just as he was about to gather his things, he noticed Wit and Robert approaching.
“May we sit here?” asked Wit, pointing to the seat opposite Dark.
A table could seat four people. Usually, Diana and Rose sat opposite Dark.
Dark frowned slightly but said, “Of course.”
So Wit and Robert sat down one by one.
Wit took out his homework, intending to chat with Dark to improve their relationship, but he found Dark already standing up.
His face froze.
But Dark continued without stopping.
When Dark left, Wit suddenly noticed Emma sitting diagonally across, making him feel even more awkward.
…
Leaving the library, Dark went straight back to the dormitory.
After checking on the worm tree and the cat plant, he immediately began practicing the “Technique of the Shadow God” according to Professor Kazel’s method.
As Professor Kazel said, mastering the “Technique of the Shadow God” required persistent practice over a long period.
The best approach was to practice for an hour every night before sleeping.
After half an hour of unsuccessful practice, Dark took out “The Golem’s Creation—General Handbook” and began studying it himself.
But after flipping through only a small part of it,
Dark put down the book and stood up.
Today, he felt somewhat restless, as if there was something he wanted to do but hadn’t done yet.
“Miaow—”
The cat plant dragged its pot over and rubbed against his leg.
He lowered his head to look at the adorable cat plant, especially at the flower about to bloom on top of it, a hint of realization flashing in his eyes.
“Yes.”
“I haven’t absorbed the ‘Pride’ for today.”
“Just one drop might make this flower bloom!”
“But my monthly quota is already used up.”
“If I continue to absorb, I’ll have to take some risks.”
“But if I just absorb one more drop…”
Dark found himself in a dilemma similar to Wit’s.
