The Villain Only Wants To Live a Buddhist Life

Chapter 52

Chapter 52: Dark Demon’s Attempt to Break Through the Fog

About whether Wit and Robert actually went to the library and finished their homework there.

Dark merely felt slightly puzzled but didn’t intend to delve deeper into it.

With nine Flower Cards in hand, he had more leeway in controlling “Bliss,” but if these Flower Cards were truly made by Professor Kazel, he wanted to understand and master the method of making them!

On one hand, it was for a stable source of Flower Cards.

On the other hand, he was very curious as to why these Flower Cards could absorb “Bliss”!

But if he asked Professor Kazel about it directly, it would seem a bit abrupt.

Dark pondered for a moment and quickly remembered that he still had a Thought Bottle that hadn’t been returned yet.

So he quickened his pace, planning to return to the dormitory first to retrieve the Thought Bottle.

The common room on Friday evenings was usually the busiest time.

Students vented their accumulated academic pressure from the week, without worrying about homework or class schedules.

After all, it was only Friday, and homework could be done tomorrow, and classes would only need to be considered the day after tomorrow.

Even the noble academy’s common room couldn’t escape this norm.

Dark weaved through the crowd, dodging Diana’s gaze that seemed to be searching for mice, successfully sneaking into the dormitory.

The dormitory was very quiet, indistinguishable from before he left.

He casually closed the door, lit a lamp, and walked toward the desk.

The Thought Bottle was placed in the drawer of the desk, ready to be taken and left.

But just as he started, he suddenly heard a meow.

This made him turn involuntarily toward the balcony.

“Is the Grass Cat Plant awake?”

He opened the door and looked down at the Grass Cat Plant on the balcony.

Then silence ensued.

On the balcony…

The Grass Cat Plant was using its two meatballs to grab the hanging Worm Branch, its pink little tongue licking and sucking the head of the branch.

The Worm Branch, which should have become very hard after being injected with three drops of “Pride,” had turned back to a soft, droopy state!

[Wrath +1]

He hadn’t expected to earn back what he lost in the afternoon, only to lose it again at night.

“Miao—”

The Grass Cat Plant, however, did not notice that its owner was already furious, dropping the Worm Branch and running toward Dark.

The Grass Cat Plant’s tail stem was quite long, allowing it to reach Dark’s feet.

Dark squatted down, picked it up onto his knee, wondering whether he should juice it or massage it.

Suddenly, he noticed a faint mark on the Grass Cat Plant’s forehead.

“The emblem of Pride?”

Dark frowned, his anger rapidly dissipating.

After examining it repeatedly, he confirmed that it was indeed the emblem of Pride, but surprisingly, the Grass Cat Plant did not exhibit the same “Pride” as the Imp Beast and Ibut.

“Could it be because it’s a plant?”

Dark fell into deep thought, letting the Grass Cat Plant suck on his finger.

“Speaking of which, how does a life form like the Grass Cat Plant exist?”

Dark’s eyes flickered, then he drew out “Pride I” from his Mana Card Deck.

“Mana Summon!”

A dark gold orb flew out from “Pride I” and merged into the Grass Cat Plant’s head.

But this Mana Card, which could make people arrogant, produced no effect.

“Let’s check the library!”

Dark took a deep breath, put down the Grass Cat Plant, and brought the Worm Tree inside.

Learn from experience.

Tomorrow, he would go to Traveler’s Street to buy a barrier to isolate the Worm Tree and get some fur balls to entertain the Grass Cat Plant.

Dark sat down to take notes, realizing he was busy again.

“Should I go to the library first, or find the professor first?”

“Perhaps the professor first!”

“It’s not too late to go to the library tonight.”

Professor Kazel was not in his office.

Dark headed to the lab.

Sure enough, he saw Professor Kazel making Mana Cards in the lab.

However, today he wasn’t making “Jack Pumpkin,” but was instead creating a “Mummy” using bandages and a mannequin.

Thinking of how to bring up the topic more naturally, Dark took out a white mandrake Flower Card as he entered.

“Diemon? Need to borrow the lab? The key to the neighboring lab is in the second drawer of the office.”

Professor Kazel looked very serious.

Dark placed the Thought Bottle on the lab table after walking past it and said, “Professor, I’m here to return something.”

“Thought Bottle?” Professor Kazel glanced back and smiled, “You can use it for a bit longer.”

Dark replied, “No, Professor. I’ve already bought a Worm Tree.”

He intended to start with topics related to emotions and thoughts, then transition to Divination Cards.

But when Professor Kazel saw the Flower Card in his hand, he didn’t hesitate to say, “What, you’re interested in these Flower Cards too?”

Dark’s heart tightened, and he immediately said, “Yes, Professor. I’ve been thinking about whether the so-called divination of these cards involves窥视 the mind.”

Professor Kazel was momentarily stunned, then laughed even more heartily.

He put down his work, removed his gloves, and smiled, “I never imagined your research in this area has reached such a level.”

As he spoke, he turned back to the lab table, extending his hand.

Just as Dark heightened his alertness, he pulled out a Flower Card from the deck on the rack, adorned with a green rose.

A pure and simple green rose, carrying a blessing for eternal youth and yearning for everlasting love.

Professor Kazel’s eyes flashed with gentleness, “Although this is just a small trick, there’s something within that even I don’t understand. But as long as the Mana flow is interrupted, it can be clearly separated without any danger.”

When Dark left the lab, he gave up on probing Professor Kazel.

Though he couldn’t confirm it, he always felt that Professor Kazel couldn’t be the true maker of the Flower Cards.

But Senior Leon didn’t seem to be lying—not that he needed to.

“Then, someone must have disguised themselves as the professor to gain trust?”

Dark recalled the Disguise Card.

If the design of the Disguise Card was a lifelike costume, could it be used to impersonate anyone?

This was both a hypothesis and an inference.

“Perhaps I should study the Disguise Card.”

Senior Pandora was teasing her cat Grass Cat Plant—a fat chinchilla.

It’s a chinchilla, not a degu!

She had used a small range Silence Card around the Grass Cat Plant to ensure its noise wouldn’t disturb the students in the library.

Dark found her behavior odd; she had never brought the Grass Cat Plant to the library before.

“Could it be a lure?”

As he thought this, his fingers unconsciously scratched the chinchilla’s chin.

This chinchilla had a scale on its chin, soft, warm, and not at all uncomfortable.

“Did you buy a Grass Cat Plant?” Pandora asked with narrowed eyes.

Dark replied, “Bought a short-haired cat.”
