Chapter 28: Alternate Universe - 3
The throne room trembled as the Demon King entered, his crimson eyes burning with pure rage. His aura surged, shaking the very foundation of the castle as he clenched his claws into fists.
"You… YOU DARE SLAUGHTER MY GENERALS?! YOU DARE SET FOOT IN MY CASTLE?!" the Demon King bellowed, his voice a mix of fury and hatred.
Li Vrak, standing in the middle of the blood-drenched hall, ran his fingers through his hair, unfazed by the overwhelming pressure radiating from the Demon King. He let out a low chuckle, tilting his head slightly. "Oh? You're mad?" he said, amusement dripping from his voice. "Relax, I did you a favor. They were weak. If they could die so easily, they weren't worth keeping around."
The Demon King's veins bulged as his magic erupted around him, forming dark, twisting tendrils of destruction. "I'LL TEAR YOU APART, YOU INSANE BASTARD!"
But Li? He just stretched his arms like he had just woken from a nap, rolling his shoulders. His grin never faded. "Ooooh, now that sounds fun." He cracked his neck and raised his katana, its edge still dripping with the blood of the fallen.
"Let's see if you can actually back up all that screaming, or if you'll just be another corpse decorating my new kingdom."
The Demon King wasted no time. With a roar that shook the entire castle, he lunged at Li Vrak, his claws tearing through the air like black lightning. The impact of his strike sent a shockwave ripping through the throne room, shattering the walls and sending debris flying in every direction.
But Li wasn't there. He had already sidestepped, effortlessly dodging with a flicker of movement, his grin widening. "Oh? You actually have some bite!"
The Demon King spun, his massive wings spreading as he summoned dozens of crimson spears of hellfire, launching them at Li in a furious storm. The room burned with their heat, the air itself sizzling as they struck. Li, however, moved through the storm like a shadow, cutting through the spears mid-air, his blade singing with each slice.
Then, in an instant, he was gone only to reappear directly above the Demon King, bringing his katana down in a flash of silver. The Demon King barely had time to raise his arm, blocking with his reinforced gauntlet. The sheer force of the strike sent cracks spiderwebbing through the floor beneath them, and the shockwave sent both combatants skidding backward.
The Demon King gritted his teeth. "You little worm…!" His aura surged, and with a single stomp, the entire castle trembled as darkness erupted from his body. Black chains shot out from beneath him, twisting through the air like serpents, aiming to ensnare Li.
Li clicked his tongue, dodging the first few before getting caught by one around his arm. Instead of struggling, he simply smirked. "Not bad." Then, with terrifying ease, he yanked the chain dragging the Demon King toward him instead.
Caught off guard, the Demon King stumbled forward, only for Li to slam his knee into his gut, sending him crashing into the throne. The impact obliterated the grand seat into nothing but rubble.
But the Demon King refused to stay down. His wings flared as he launched himself back at Li with newfound fury. Their battle turned into a blur of speed and destruction, each clash of blade and claw sending shockwaves through the crumbling castle. Flames, lightning, and darkness clashed in chaotic beauty, tearing apart the throne room piece by piece.
The fight raged on for minutes both combatants grinning through the blood and pain, each strike pushing them further, neither willing to give in so easily. The Demon King, once confident in his rule, now found himself fighting not for victory… but for survival.
And Li? He was just having the time of his life. As the dust settled and the once-mighty throne room lay in ruins, Li Vrak stood amidst the wreckage, barely out of breath. Meanwhile, the Demon King was panting, his once-imposing form now covered in gashes, his armor cracked, his once-proud wings tattered.
Li lazily spun his katana in his hand, grinning like a madman. "Damn, I gotta say, for a so-called 'Demon King,' you're struggling pretty hard against a mere 'worm,' huh?"
The Demon King growled, baring his fangs, but before he could respond, Li continued. "What was all that big talk earlier? 'Insolent fool, I'll crush you' yeah, yeah, I heard it all before. But look at you now! Huffing and puffing like a washed-up old man!" He let out a laugh, shaking his head. "Pathetic."
The Demon King's hands clenched into fists, rage burning in his crimson eyes. He took a step forward, darkness flaring around him, but Li just raised a finger. "Ah-ah-ah, before you try anything stupid, maybe take a second to think. If this is you at your best… how much worse is it gonna get?" He gestured around at the destruction. "Your castle's in ruins, your so-called 'strongest generals' are dead, and the only thing keeping you standing is sheer stubbornness."
He sighed dramatically, resting his katana on his shoulder. "I expected more, honestly. Maybe a little more desperation, some fancy last-ditch move y'know, something interesting! But nah, you're just another disappointment." He tilted his head. "If this is the best the demon race has to offer… maybe wiping you all out will be easier than I thought."
The Demon King snarled, his aura surging violently, but Li just smirked. "Oho? Did I hit a nerve? C'mon then, 'King,' show me what you've got left!" He spread his arms mockingly, daring him to attack. "Or are you just gonna stand there looking stupid?"
The air grew thick with an overwhelming pressure as the Demon King finally snapped. His body erupted in a torrent of dark energy, crackling with sheer destructive force. The ground beneath him shattered, black flames roared around his form, and his crimson eyes glowed with unrestrained fury. His voice thundered across the ruined castle.
"ENOUGH OF YOUR INSOLENCE, HUMAN!" Li Vrak's grin widened as he felt the sheer intensity of the Demon King's rage. His hands trembled slightly not in fear, but in exhilaration. His piercing purple eyes gleamed with madness as he stepped forward.
"YES! YES! That's more like it, Demon King!" he shouted, spreading his arms wide as if welcoming the destruction. "That anger! That desperation! That sheer will to kill me! That's what I've been waiting for!" His laughter rang out, wild and chaotic. "C'mon then, show me what your so-called 'full power' really looks like!"
The castle walls crumbled under the force of the Demon King's energy, and a deafening explosion of magic tore through the air as he lunged at Li with murderous intent. Li met him head-on, their clash shaking the very foundation of the Demon Kingdom.
The Demon King unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks—each strike carrying enough force to shatter mountains. His claws slashed through the air, his fists crashed down like meteors, and waves of destructive magic tore through the battlefield. The sheer intensity of his assault turned the once grand throne room into a chaotic wasteland of destruction.
But Li Vrak? He was laughing.
With effortless grace, he dodged, weaved, and parried every single blow, his movements fluid and almost lazy. When the Demon King's claw nearly caught him, Li tilted his head slightly, letting it pass just inches from his face. When an explosion of dark energy erupted beneath his feet, he simply stepped aside, as if it was nothing more than an inconvenience.
"Come on, is that really it?" Li taunted, a wide, manic grin plastered across his face. "You're throwing a tantrum like a spoiled brat, but you're still not even close to killing me!"
The Demon King roared in fury, his rage reaching its peak as he struck even harder, faster, with reckless abandon. But Li… Li was having the time of his life.
"Yes, yes! More! Keep going! Try harder! Make me feel something!" He laughed, deflecting a massive claw strike with just a flick of his wrist. "You're fighting for your life, and I'm just having fun. Isn't that hilarious?"
The Demon King's eyes burned with hatred, but deep inside, for the first time in his immortal life, he felt something he had never known before. Fear.
The once-mighty Demon King panted heavily, his massive chest rising and falling with exhaustion. His arms trembled, his legs felt like they were going to give out at any moment, and his body was covered in deep wounds, his dark blood staining the ruined throne room. His power, once feared across the world, was fading.
Yet, standing across from him—untouched, unfazed, and completely entertained—was Li Vrak.
With a bright grin, Li swayed his head side to side, almost like he was enjoying a tune only he could hear. His body language was relaxed, carefree, as if he had been playing this whole time rather than fighting.
"Awww, you tired already?" Li mocked, taking a slow step forward. "Come on, I was just starting to enjoy myself. Don't tell me this is all the great Demon King has to offer?"
The Demon King growled but couldn't even muster the strength to respond. His entire being screamed at him to move, to fight, but his body wouldn't listen. Li chuckled. "You know, this is kinda disappointing. I really thought you'd be more fun." He tilted his head. "Guess I overestimated you."
He let out a long sigh before rolling his shoulders, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Oh well, since you're out of steam… I guess it's my turn now." The Demon King's eyes widened in pure terror.
The Demon King's breath hitched as Li Vrak suddenly vanished from sight. His eyes darted around in desperation, scanning the wrecked throne room for any sign of his enemy.
Nothing. Then— A strange sensation washed over him. A sudden lightness. He tried to take a step forward, but his body wouldn't move. His vision blurred, his balance wavered, and an overwhelming confusion gripped him.
Something was wrong. Slowly, his gaze drifted downward. And that's when he saw it—
His own body. Standing there. Without a head. The realization hit too late. His severed head tumbled through the air, his consciousness fading in an instant.
Behind him, Li Vrak stood, holding his katana loosely in one hand, his grin widening. "Oh? Took you a second to notice."
The Demon King's head hit the ground. Thud. Silence.
Li exhaled dramatically, sheathing his blade with a satisfied hum. "Well, that was fun while it lasted." He stretched, looking around at the ruins of what was once the Demon King's throne room. "Now then… guess it's time to redecorate." And with that, he stepped over the fallen king's remains, making his way toward the throne his throne now.
