Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Last Stand
Chapter 13: The Last Stand
1. Blood in the Water
The air was thick with the scent of gunpowder and death.
Jinwoo stared down at his brother's body. Kyung-ho's blood soaked into the concrete, mixing with the rain.
The streetlights above flickered, casting shadows across Jinwoo's face.
Hye-jin stood beside him, her breath shaky.
"Jinwoo… we have to go."
He didn't move.
His grip on the gun was tight, knuckles white.
His own brother.
Dead by his hands.
Min-jae had won this round.
Jinwoo inhaled slowly, then turned away from the corpse.
"We finish this."
Hye-jin met his gaze. Something had changed in him.
This wasn't just about revenge anymore.
It was war.
---
2. The Enemy You Don't See
They drove through the night, the city stretching endlessly before them.
Jinwoo's hands were steady on the wheel, but inside, his mind was chaos.
Min-jae had played him from the start.
Set traps. Used his own family against him.
And now, it was time to pay him back.
Hye-jin spoke first. "Where do we hit him?"
Jinwoo's jaw tightened.
"His biggest weakness."
Hye-jin frowned. "His money?"
Jinwoo shook his head. "His pride."
---
3. The Devil's Playground
Min-jae's stronghold was the Red Lotus Casino.
A fortress hidden behind luxury, filled with criminals, bodyguards, and dirty money.
The perfect place for Jinwoo's final move.
They arrived just before midnight.
Jinwoo and Hye-jin walked through the front doors like ghosts.
No hesitation. No fear.
Inside, the casino was alive—dealers shuffling cards, high rollers throwing down stacks of cash.
But Jinwoo wasn't here for games.
He was here for Min-jae.
And Min-jae knew it.
Because the moment Jinwoo stepped forward—
Every gun in the room turned on him.
---
4. The Final War Begins
A slow clap echoed through the room.
Then, a voice.
Cold. Mocking. Deadly.
"Well, well."
Jinwoo turned.
Min-jae stood at the top of the grand staircase, a glass of whiskey in his hand.
"You really are a stubborn bastard."
Jinwoo's eyes burned with rage.
"You killed my family."
Min-jae sipped his drink. "Correction—you killed your family."
Jinwoo lunged forward.
Gunfire erupted.
Hye-jin dove for cover, returning fire.
Jinwoo grabbed a table, flipping it over as bullets shredded the casino floor.
Min-jae's men were everywhere—but Jinwoo didn't care.
Because this was it.
The final fight.
---
5. No Mercy
Jinwoo moved like a ghost, weaving between bullets.
One. Two. Three.
Each shot precise. Each kill clean.
Hye-jin covered his flank, taking down two men with a blade.
But Min-jae was gone.
Coward.
Running.
Jinwoo saw him slip through a back door—and chased.
---
6. A King's End
The rooftop was cold.
Wind howled between the buildings as Jinwoo stepped forward.
Min-jae stood at the edge, his gun raised.
Both men bleeding. Bruised.
Years of hate between them.
Min-jae laughed, blood dripping from his mouth.
"I always knew it'd end like this."
Jinwoo raised his gun.
"This is for Kyung-ho."
Min-jae smiled. "I'd do it all again."
Jinwoo pulled the trigger.
Bang.
Min-jae fell.
Jinwoo watched as his body disappeared into the darkness below.
It was over.
At least… it should have been.
---
7. The Real Enemy
Jinwoo turned.
And froze.
Because standing there—gun aimed at him—
Was Hye-jin.
Her eyes were cold.
Too cold.
"Jinwoo."
His breath caught in his throat.
No.
Not her.
"Why?" His voice barely came out.
Hye-jin tilted her head.
"You really thought I was on your side?"
Jinwoo felt his heart crack.
Then—
Bang.
A gunshot.
And everything went black.
