The Legend of Utsumi- Reincarnated into another world as the strongest

Chapter 2: A name exchange and headpats

"Esteemed one, in this world, Humans only existed in legends and history. They ruled the ancient world with absolute power and were known as… Destroyers."

When Utsumi listened to the words that the Dragon girl stated, she was left in utter shock. 'Humans ruled over Mythical Creatures in this world? And why did she state this like it was my history, too?'

Utsumi shuffled her hands and waved frantically as she tried to explain.

"Um, Miss Dragon, I hate to tell you, but humans aren't nearly that powerful in the world I come from. We don't have any special powers, and I promise you someone such as yourself could easily kill humans from my world."

'Better to clear up this misunderstanding now, I suppose.'

However, that dragon girl didn't respond in the way Utsumi had expected. The violet-colored horns on the Dragon girl's head illuminated and a violet-shaded ball of energy began to flow through her palms as she swung toward Utsumi.

'Waa~ she realized humans are weak and now she's gonna kill me! Her power is cool though, I guess I don't mind being killed by her!'

But no matter how long Utsumi waited for death, it never came. Instead, it felt like an eternity for the Dragon girls to strike her.

'Is she pretending? Why is she moving so slowly? In fact, everything around me is moving slowly. I wonder what is going on?'

Finally, Utsumi got tired of waiting for the Dragon to strike her, took a slight step to the right, and avoided her strike. Once she moved, the strike coated by the radiant violet energy created a massive explosion, leveling nearly one hundred meters of forest surrounding them.

Trees were toppled and birds flocked away hastily as the violet-colored explosion of energy leveled everything in its path.

'Oh my gosh, that was insanely powerful! How am I not damaged at all?!'

I looked down at my arms and legs but there wasn't even a scratch on my body, instead, the white nightgown that I had worn to bed last night and brought to this world was blown to smithereens. Leaving me now… naked.

"Um, Miss Dragon, please don't look at me right now!"

The Dragon girl who had looked very pleased with the strike that she had just performed suddenly went silent and she quickly flipped her head around to look away from Utsumi.

'Sigh, I wish I had brought clothes with me after I died!'

For some reason, after Utsumi thought about it the same white nightgown that had been seemingly vaporized by the Dragon was covering her body once again. There were no tears or scratches on Utsumi's clothes either.

'It was like it never even happened, but I know for sure that it did… so maybe God granted one of my wishes?'

The Dragon who had noticed that Utsumi was finally clothed once again asked for approval to turn around before she moved.

"Esteemed one, have you restored your clothing now?"

The way the Dragon asked her made it sound like such a trivial action which made Utsumi wonder if maybe all of these sudden strange acts that she was performing were a form of magic and not someone granting her wishes.

"Yes, you can turn around now."

After finally gaining Utsumi's approval to move, she did so and slowly whipped her body around to face Utsumi once again before asking a sudden question.

"Esteemed one, I knew you could dodge, but why didn't you put up a magic barrier?!"

'Magic barrier? So that swirling purple energy from that Dragon was magic? Magic is so cool! I want to learn it!'

The moment Utsumi's thoughts became centered on magic, her brain was suddenly swarming with thousands of magic spells and magical knowledge that she had never been aware of before.

"What just happened?"

Utsumi asked herself, but the Dragon responded to her question.

"Esteemed one, could you please suppress your mana? It's beginning to become extremely difficult to breathe…"

Suddenly, the violet-haired Dragon's knees buckled, and she began gasping for air as she slowly slid down toward the ground.

'What is happening to her? Is this my doing? Suppress my Mana, how can I even do that? What is Mana anyway?'

However, once the thought crossed Utsumi's mind, a sudden calmness began to spread over her and the painful expression in the violet-haired Dragon calmed as well as she quickly recovered, taking deep breaths of oxygen once again.

"Esteemed one, is it possible that you're not used to using Mana or magic power?"

The Dragon asked with a slight drip of sweat sliding down her cheek with a sincere but painful smile, leaving Utsumi with another wave of questions.

"So that sudden calmness I felt washed over me was Mana?"

The Dragon quickly nodded before standing back up to look at me face to face.

"Esteemed one, if my memory serves me correctly, it it true that humans were banished to a world with no magic power nor mana, right?"

'Banished? Is she saying that humans originated from this world then?!'

Utsumi quickly answered with a slight, confused expression plastered over her face.

"Um, it's true that there was no mana or magic power in the world I came from, but I thought that was actually quite normal."

Utsumi slightly scratched the back of her head as she answered the Dragon's questions, which led to an even higher feeling of shock from the Dragon.

"I see, now it all makes sense, Esteemed One. When humans were banished to that realm called Aerth I believe you all lost your immortality, so eventually the history was lost and forgotten."

'Banished? She also knows the name of the world I came from? Even if she pronounced it incorrectly, she seems she knows what she's talking about. So, does that mean that in this world, humans are a type of mythical creature?'

Utsumi extended her hand to the Dragon with a bright smile before asking, "Miss Dragon, what is your name?"

The Dragon looked slightly unsure about answering, but Utsumi's continued smile opened her up slightly, giving way to her response.

"Shayde, Shayde le Dragovia, the Crown Princess of the Nation of Dragovia."

'Crown… Princess?! Dragons have their own nation?! I always assumed they lived in groups in the wild! The stories written about dragons in folklore couldn't be farther from the truth! But wait a nation full of Dragons… I want to go!'

Utsumi's smile widened before her eyes locked back on Shayde's with a deep smile, "Princess Shayde! I want to go to your nation!"

Shayde smiled before nodding her head quickly in agreement.

"Absolutely, I would love for you to come, but you don't need to address me as Princess Esteemed…"

Before Shayde could finish her answer, she looked at Utsumi with a brief bit of question that clouded her mind.

"Um Esteemed one, would you please grace me with the honor of knowing your name?"

'Sigh, I think I'm beginning to understand why she was so scared of me now with the legacy of humans being as powerful as she is claiming them to be, but her calling me esteemed one seems slightly strange to a friend.'

"Of course, but in return you must no longer call me esteemed one and you must always call me by my name."

Shayde began to look slightly hesitant, but Utsumi reached and grabbed both of her hands while gracing her with another beaming smile to signify that it was right.

"If you insist…"

Shayde meekly blushed and turned her head to the side, slightly avoiding eye contact with Utsumi.

'How cute.'

"Utsunomiya Utsumi. That is my name, Shayde."

Shayde briefly muttered the words to herself in confusion, making it evident that she was struggling with the pronunciation.

'I suppose a name such as mine is pretty hard to grasp in this world.'

Utsumi briefly let go of Shayde's hand and tapped her on the shoulder to clarify the pronunciation.

"Ut-su-no-mi-ya."

Utsumi slowly said the syllables to explain the pronunciation to Shayde, giving her an example of how to say it, to which she quickly nodded and responded.

"Utsunomiya."

Shayde said the word clearly with a determined expression plastered over her face, causing Utsumi's smile to widen.

'Ahhh~ she's so cute! She looks so proud of herself!' Utsumi slightly giggled to herself before continuing.

"Ut-su-mi"

Shayde once again nodded before muttering the pronunciation a couple more times to herself and turning her attention back to Utsumi with a determined expression.

"Utsumi!"

Without thinking, Utsumi reached out and stroked the top of Shayde's head with a bright smile.

"Good job, Shayde."

Shayde's face quickly reddened as ripe an apple while Utsumi continued to pat her head, but she desperately wanted to banish the thought that she enjoyed it away from her mind.
