The Invincible Sect Leader

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: The World Takes Notice

Nine hundred years had passed since the Great War against the Blood Demon Cult. The Martial Sky World had long since settled into an era of peace and prosperity, with the Martial Sky Alliance reigning supreme. Clans had risen and fallen, emperors had been crowned and dethroned, yet amidst the flow of time, one thing remained unchange Chan Li, his wife Tang Yu, and their son Chan Lang showed no signs of aging.

Whispers spread through the lands like wildfire.

"Have you heard? The heroes of the past still live!"

"Impossible! No one can defy time itself unless... they are immortals."

"No, they are something even beyond immortals. They are beings who transcend the natural laws!"

The world could not ignore the anomaly any longer. While powerful martial artists could live for centuries through sheer willpower and cultivation, even they had their limits. Most grandmasters perished at around five hundred years, their bodies withering despite their cultivation efforts. But Chan Li and his family showed no such deterioration. If anything, they appeared exactly the same as they had centuries ago.

Even more shocking was that their strength had not waned. If anything, it had only grown more profound, more unfathomable.

Questions Without Answers

Inside their secluded mountain home, Chan Lang paced back and forth, his brow furrowed in thought. "Father, Mother, I need to ask you something serious."

Chan Li, sprawled lazily on a bamboo chair, barely cracked open an eye. "Is this about why the tea leaves taste better when you brew them upside down? Because I already told you, it's about heat distribution."

Tang Yu rolled her eyes and flicked his forehead. "Stop teasing."

Chan Lang exhaled sharply, crossing his arms. "I'm serious. I've watched friends, fellow martial artists, even legends pass away, but we remain unchanged. I still look like I'm in my thirties. Mother looks the same as when I was a child, and Father… well, you've always looked like an ageless troublemaker."

Chan Li chuckled. "Thank you, son. That's the nicest thing you've ever said."

"I'm being serious!" Chan Lang nearly shouted. "How is it that we don't age? What are we?"

A silence filled the air. Even Tang Yu, who usually followed Chan Li's lead in taking life lightly, looked at her husband with concern.

Chan Li sighed and finally sat up. "Well, I guess it's about time we had this talk."

He placed his hands behind his head and stared at the sky. "Son, the truth is… we're not exactly normal. You know that already. But even I don't fully understand the limits of what we are. I cultivated differently from the people of this world. My essence, my foundation everything about me isn't bound by the same rules. And because you were born from that, you inherited a bit of that strangeness."

Chan Lang frowned. "So… what does that make us? Gods? Beasts? Something else entirely?"

Tang Yu hesitated before speaking. "Your father always called himself a mere martial artist, but even I've come to understand that's far from the truth. He defies nature itself. He always has."

Chan Li scratched his cheek. "Well, I wouldn't say defy… more like 'politely ignore.'"

"Father."

"Alright, alright." Chan Li sighed again. "Truth is, I don't know where our limits are. But does it really matter? We're together, aren't we?"

Chan Lang exhaled sharply. "It matters if people start hunting us for answers."

The World's Attention

Indeed, as centuries passed, the world no longer saw the Chan family as mere legends they saw them as living anomalies, mysteries that must be solved. Kingdoms, sects, and secret organizations all turned their eyes toward the mountain where the family resided.

One day, an envoy from the Martial Sky Alliance arrived, bowing deeply at their doorstep.

"Master Chan Li, Lady Tang Yu, Young Master Chan Lang, the Alliance humbly requests your presence. The world must know your truth."

Chan Li arched a brow. "That's a really fancy way of saying, 'We want to poke you with needles and see if you bleed.'"

The envoy winced. "We… we merely wish to understand."

Tang Yu sighed. "We knew this day would come."

Chan Lang clenched his fists. "What will we do, Father?"

Chan Li smirked. "Well, son, there are three ways we can handle this. One, we go and give them an interview like some rare animals. Two, we run and live on another mountain. Or three, we beat up anyone who tries to mess with us and continue living our peaceful lives."

Chan Lang raised an eyebrow. "You're seriously considering the third option?"

"It's worked for me so far."

Tang Yu groaned. "Husband…"

Chan Li shrugged. "Alright, alright. Let's at least hear them out. Who knows? Maybe they'll bring good food."

With that, the Chan family prepared to step into the world once more, their secrets dangling just out of reach of those who sought the truth.

But one thing was certain whether they were mortals, gods, or something beyond, Chan Li and his family would continue to defy all expectations. And maybe, just maybe, they'd have some fun doing it.
