The Forsaken Heiress' Comeback

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Breaking News

On a wide TV screen, a news anchor reported with a broad smile, "The most powerful merger in town of Billionaire Adrian Blackwood and Heiress Vivienne Lancaster caused quite an uproar yesterday when they announced that they were getting married just right after Millionaire Damian Whitmore proposed to Vivienne Lancaster.

Vivienne Lancaster is facing quite the backlash after she rejected the Whitmore Darling Damian and suddenly turned out to propose to Adrian Blackwood. In a series of events after Adrian Blackwood agreed to Marry Vivienne Lancaster, fans of the billionaire on social media seem to think Adrian Blackwood has been blackmailed by the Lancaster's into agreeing on Vivienne's marriage proposal that came out of nowhere.

Furthermore, fans of millionaire Damian Whitmore are attacking Vivienne Lancaster because they claim that she's someone who is inconsiderate of someone else's feelings, with one fan saying, 'Imagine your fiancé proposing to you and you being a low ball self-centered woman who thinks they deserve everything in this world handed to them, so you go into blackmailing a man that doesn't even love you to agree to a marriage that he doesn't want, leaving someone that actually loves you, pathetic!'

That's it folks, Now you in the know, I'm Lindsay Merkabah." Concluded the news anchor.

Walter Lancaster was seeing this in the TV room in prison, among other inmates, he wondered what her daughter had gotten herself into. Other inmates faced his direction, looking at him with sympathetic faces as they murmured in a low tone, clearly they were having a debacle.

"Truly diabolical," said one inmate. "He's going through it man." But Walter actually looked okay, he wasn't entirely messy as the other inmates, he was a bit too clean for prison, too calculated, as much as he worried about Vivienne, he knew somehow this was just a tactic from his daughter but he didn't know what the tactic was for.

"She managed to trick a Blackwood with her schemes but I'm glad the public isn't falling for her evil plans, how sad," said Carla mockingly as she switched off the TV taking a glass of milk. She wore a red dress, her hair was straightened, but she had too much make up on, one would mistake her for a clown or a stripper, she was told this before but since Carla didn't have any fashion or makeup , she lacked the expertise for these kind of things even if she hired a stylist.

"Mother what do you think will be the verdict after the board finds out Vivienne signed the company to us?" asked Carla.

"The board will definitely agree to replacing her, especially with this scandal, it's not going to benefit the company, so I'm very sure they will not take any second chances to remove her as the CEO since her father is already gone, his vote could have outweighed some of the board members, but we currently have the majority of the board members on our side," Annie explained with a satisfied hint in her voice.

"I already talked to Damian, he's currently one of the shareholders who holds the most shares in our company, he'll side with us, because we both want the same thing," her mother added.

"At least, some good news, we should be heading to the company now, the board meeting starts in an hour," said Carla checking her wrist watch while her mother nodded,

"Yes we definitely should. Where is that witch anyway?" asked her mother.

"I saw her leave, early in the morning. Whatever she thinks she's doing, it will just backfire on her just like what she did, yesterday. I bet, Adrian Blackwood isn't even going to take her seriously with that marriage thingy, I can't wait to laugh in her face. Poor girl." Said Carla as they left.

"Cameroon, can you do something for me? It's very important," said Vivienne to someone else she was talking to on her phone, then she hang up. She was in her car, thinking about everyone that was coming after her after the breaking news. She saw it but she wasn't that shaken, yet she didn't feel secure or safe enough, she needed someone to tell her that everything would be okay.

Vivienne was currently in an open space, surrounded by several warehouses, she was waiting for someone, that's why she left the house early. It didn't take long before the person she was waiting for came knocking on the window of her car at the backseat, then her driver unlocked the doors and the guy entered.

It was the guy Annie gave documents to about Vivienne during her engagement party "Look, I don't want to be caught up in this anymore further than I have, here are the documents she gave me that night during the ceremony to take to the Chief's officer, she can't trace it back to me, this is the last bid I'm doing for you." he said and before he opened the door to the car, he added, "Oh, and another heads up, she's having you followed but don't fret, she didn't today." then he left as he constantly pulled the hood to his green sweater to cover his face.

Vivienne was clearly shocked, 'this was all that was happening behind my back, while I thought I had a perfect family, I was really a fool to even think that for a damn second' she thought. All this time they were monitoring her movements and she didn't know. She had to be more careful, she couldn't risk the possibility of her next movements leaking to them.

Today she had to appear at the board meeting at Lancaster Enterprises, she received an email yesterday at night of this meeting, it was urgent, and every shareholder was going to be there, she couldn't miss it. She also had to meet Adrian after, to finalize their marriage proposal, immediately setting the date to their wedding. To her this marriage was more of a strategic plan than a romance entanglement but she wasn't sure why Adrian agreed to it so fast, something wasn't adding up.

Before she could go, she removed the documents from the envelope to take a look at what her evil step-mother and step-sister had planned for her. Her eyes widened after seeing the information that was in those documents. They were planning to frame her the same way they did her father. Goodness gracious, she thought. She just couldn't catch a break. But what Vivienne didn't quite understand is why her step-mother used that kind of tactic if Carla had already planned to kill her.

As soon as she lifted her gaze from the documents, she was about to signal her driver to go when a black shiny limousine puled up right next to her car. Her heart started beating very fast, she wondered if these were the guys that were sent to follow her and she thought if they had finally come to kill her.

Vivienne panicked even further when the door to the back seat of the limousine was opened, she couldn't see clearly since all their windows were tinted and the other car was tinted much darker than hers, in that moment she turned to face the other side of the car attempting to hide herself from the moment of death that had finally caught up to her, even she couldn't escape this and then a knock to the window of her car followed.

She told her driver to lock them immediately, then the knock sounded again but this time it was followed by a familiar voice, "Ms. Lancaster?"

Vivienne knew that voice and when she slowly came to the realization of who it might be, she told her driver to unlock the door very quickly and the the person who was knocking entered.

When she finally turned to look at who it was hoping that she wasn't mistaken, she gasped heavily in relief.

"Adrian?"
