Chapter 23: [23] Born of Heaven and Earth in This Life?
"So, the three of us are classmates?"
Ikki seemed quite pleased upon hearing this, his face lighting up with his signature gentle smile.
He instinctively glanced at Eiji.
Was it fate? The two of them, who bore the surnames of two legendary knights, were gradually intertwining their destinies. This gave Ikki a sense of urgency, a feeling that he couldn't afford to slack off from now on.
After glancing at Eiji, he awkwardly turned his head away.
"Huh?"
Stella tilted her head, puzzled by Ikki's unusual reaction.
His expression was slightly awkward, as if he didn't dare to look directly at Eiji.
Stella frowned, then suddenly realized something, her face darkening like a pot.
Even she had to admit that Eiji's charm was truly extraordinary, to the point where it made her feel inadequate. No matter who you were, facing this guy might make your heart skip a beat, regardless of gender.
When he stood there, even butterflies or migratory birds would occasionally fly over and circle around him, as if the world itself acknowledged his charm.
"By the way, I've been meaning to ask," Stella took another sip of her drink, pretending to be casual.
"Eiji, your surname is Nangou, right? Is it... that Nangou?"
"Yes."
"Wait, seriously? Are you a direct descendant of the God of War?"
Stella laughed on the surface, but her heart tightened.
For some reason, she suddenly felt like she had lost.
Even though the other person was a guy, he was more beautiful than her, and he even had this strange rival relationship with Ikki. It made her feel very uneasy.
"Not a direct descendant."
Eiji ignored the subtle thoughts of the two.
Ever since his rebirth, whether it was men or women, people would always give him furtive glances. He was used to it. Having too much charm came with its own set of troubles.
"When people hear my surname, Nangou, they assume I'm a descendant of Torajirou Nangou. But actually, I was picked up by my master... He found me falling from the sky on a snowy night."
That's right.
Eiji's rebirth was filled with fantastical elements.
According to his master, he was walking through the snow one day when he suddenly saw a golden light descending from the sky. Inside that light was Eiji.
The master, amazed by the sight, decided he couldn't ignore the extremely weak infant and took him home, raising him with great care.
In this world of Blazers, this kind of thing could somewhat make sense. After all, some infants' Blazer abilities were so powerful that they might unconsciously activate, causing them to be separated from their parents.
But the master had secretly tried to find his parents in this world, only to come up empty-handed. From this perspective, his rebirth was indeed shrouded in mystery. It seemed that in this life, he might truly have been born of heaven and earth, with no parents.
So, Eiji's luck after his rebirth was truly remarkable. If his master hadn't picked him up from the snow, he would have likely frozen to death in the icy wilderness.
But in reality, his luck was quite peculiar...
"It's almost time for the opening ceremony. I'll head back first."
Eiji pulled his thoughts out of the past, waved at the two, and left the main gate.
"So, Eiji isn't a descendant of the God of War? This is the first time I've heard that."
Ikki watched Eiji's retreating figure, feeling quite surprised.
Even though he wasn't a direct descendant, the fact that the God of War had given him his surname suggested that Eiji held a special place in the God of War's heart.
"Ikki—!"
A sudden low shout came from beside him, startling Ikki.
"You're not going to get turned by that guy, are you?"
Stella asked nervously.
"Of course not!"
Ikki's face fell, and he couldn't help but shout.

At 9 a.m., the opening ceremony began on time.
All three grades, totaling over 700 students and nearly 100 teachers, gathered in the auditorium to learn about this year's changes in the system from Kurono Shinguuji.
Then came the student council president, Touka Toudou's speech. It was mostly the usual stuff—welcome messages, encouragement to work hard, and so on. Eiji couldn't be bothered to listen.
Around 10 o'clock, the teachers and students dispersed and returned to their respective classes.
Class 1-1.
Located on the third floor of the first teaching building, first room on the left.
This year, Hagun Academy had about 250 freshmen, divided into ten classes of 25 students each.
When Eiji walked into the classroom, most of Class 1-1 had already arrived. Eiji quickly scanned the room and, aside from Ikki and Stella, didn't recognize anyone.
"Nangou-kun!"
Just as he thought this, an excited voice reached his ears.
Following the sound, he saw a girl with peach-gold short hair. She had a cute, slightly youthful face and an impressive "fate." She wore square-framed glasses with gold rims and was looking at him with bright eyes as she approached.
"You're the camera girl from that day?"
Eiji remembered her "fate"... no, I mean, he remembered her face.
"Yes, yes! My name is Kagami Kusakabe. I can't believe Nangou-kun remembers me. I'm so touched!"
The glasses girl was overjoyed, feeling that her efforts over the past three days hadn't been in vain.
"You know me?"
"Of course! I'm determined to become a national TV reporter. Something like a name is no challenge for me!"
Kagami giggled and struck a peace sign.
Three days ago, after parting ways with the handsome boy, she had been tirelessly searching for any trace of him. Finally, she managed to get some information from the student council president.
"Damn, she beat me to it!"
"She's acting all cute on purpose! She's showing off!"
"Does anyone know his name?"
The classroom quickly became chaotic. Over a dozen girls formed small groups, chattering among themselves. Some were sending flirtatious glances at Eiji, while others shot jealous looks at Kagami.
"Damn it, he's stealing all the spotlight!"
The boys, on the other hand, were on high alert, looking at Eiji as if he were a class enemy.
"Nangou-kun, I'm a huge fan of yours!"
"Me too! That line—'Is it okay if I defeat you?'—was so cool! It could totally be nominated for Hagun Academy's Best Quotes!"
"The footage of Nangou-kun was so cool! Even the Director was no match for him!"
"Um... am I the only one who thinks Nangou-kun looked the most handsome when he was lying in a pool of blood?"
Before anyone knew it, over a dozen girls had surrounded Eiji, all looking at him with admiration.
"Footage?"
Eiji remained calm.
Compared to his past experiences, being surrounded by a mere dozen girls was nothing.
"I filmed it!"
The girls crowded around, and whether it was intentional or not, Kagami was nearly pushed out.
She quickly used her reporter skills to secure a prime spot, grabbing Eiji's arm and pressing it against her "fate."
