Chapter 7: Kurama

Kurama Finally Contacted Him?

Ever since arriving in this world, Naruto had tried to actively contact Kurama every day, but he had never succeeded. This time, however, Kurama had reached out on his own. But why? Why did Kurama want this scroll?

Naruto looked at the unrolled scroll, his eyes scanning the intricate seals and techniques. One particular section caught his attention: "Four Symbols Seal: Release."

Is this the key to the Four Symbols Seal? Naruto wondered. But wait, shouldn't the key to the seal be with the toads? Unless…

He paused, his mind racing. The Four Symbols Seal wasn't something the Fourth Hokage had invented—it was a technique passed down through the Uzumaki clan. That meant this scroll might not have been left behind by the Fourth Hokage at all.

Kurama's voice echoed in his mind, impatient and demanding: "Take the scroll and leave!"

Outside the study, heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway. Ebisu, Konohamaru's tutor, had just left the bathroom. But after a few steps, he cursed under his breath and hurried back inside. It seemed his stomach troubles weren't over yet.

Naruto's heart pounded. He turned his attention back to Kurama. "I can't take the scroll," he said firmly.

Kurama growled, his voice reverberating in Naruto's mind. "You dare disobey me, brat?"

Naruto remained calm. "Kurama-sama, haven't you been paying attention? If I take the scroll, what then? Can I release you from my body? Can I take you out of Konoha? No. But I can copy the technique first."

Kurama's tone shifted, a mix of anger and curiosity. "You insolent little—"

Naruto cut him off. "Kurama-sama, can you quiet down for a moment? I need to focus. Getting caught isn't an option."

Kurama fell silent, though Naruto could sense his irritation. As Naruto quickly copied the Four Symbols Seal technique, Kurama didn't protest further. It seemed even the Nine-Tails was intrigued by Naruto's boldness.

Once the entire forbidden scroll had been copied, Naruto rewound it carefully and returned it to its original position. But then, a thought struck him. "No… maybe I should take the scroll after all," he muttered.

Kurama's voice returned, laced with curiosity. "Why the sudden change of heart?"

Naruto's eyes narrowed. "Think about it. Why was it so easy for me to get something as important as the Forbidden Scroll? This has to be a trap."

Despite his suspicions, Naruto decided to take the scroll with him. He slipped out of the Third Hokage's house without incident, the scroll safely tucked under his arm.

Back at his apartment, Naruto set the scroll aside and focused on communicating with Kurama.

Kurama: "So you're saying this was all a trap?"

Naruto: "Most likely."

Kurama: "Why?"

Naruto: "It was too easy. The Forbidden Scroll is one of the most guarded items in the village. For me to just walk in and take it? That doesn't add up."

Kurama: "But how? Only you and Mizuki knew about this plan. Did Mizuki betray you?"

Naruto: "He did. The whole graduation photo excuse was flimsy. The exams are over, and the graduates are already back at the academy for further training. There's no reason for the Third Hokage to agree to something so pointless unless he knew what I was planning."

Naruto clenched his fists. The Third Hokage must have anticipated his move. There was no doubt that the house had been under surveillance. The only question was whether anyone had noticed him copying the scroll.

Naruto: "Kurama-sama, can you do me a favor?"

Kurama: "What do you want?"

Naruto: "You have an incredible memory, right?"

Kurama: "What of it?"

Naruto: "I need you to memorize every technique in this scroll."

Kurama chuckled, a deep, rumbling sound. "Interesting… but what's in it for me?"

Naruto: "We can make a deal."

As he spoke, Naruto unrolled the scroll again. Kurama's laughter grew louder, echoing in Naruto's mind. "You're a bold one, brat. I'm starting to like you."

Suddenly, Naruto's vision shifted. The room around him dissolved, replaced by a dark, cavernous space. A massive iron gate loomed before him, and behind it stood Kurama in all his terrifying glory. The Nine-Tails' enormous form towered over Naruto, his crimson fur glowing like fire, his sharp teeth gleaming in the dim light.

Kurama: "Tell me, brat. Who are you, really?"

Naruto looked down and froze. On the ground lay another Naruto—his body, unconscious. He raised his hand, touching his face. The reflection in the water below showed a face that was both familiar and foreign.

What's happening? Is Naruto's original soul still in this body?

As Naruto reached out to touch the unconscious form, the body began to twist and melt, merging into his own. A splitting headache overwhelmed him, and everything went black.

When Naruto woke up, he was in the hospital—again. The sterile white walls and the faint smell of antiseptic told him he was in a private room this time.

Iruka: "Naruto! You're awake!"

Naruto turned to see Iruka standing by his bedside, relief etched on his face. But before Naruto could respond, a cold voice interrupted.

Shadow ANBU: "If he's awake, he's coming with us."

Iruka stepped forward, trying to block the ANBU operative. "He just woke up! Give him some time—"

But the ANBU didn't listen. In an instant, another operative appeared behind Iruka, restraining him. Before Naruto could react, the room blurred, and he found himself in a dimly lit interrogation chamber.

Seated across from him was the Third Hokage, his expression unreadable. On the table between them lay the Forbidden Scroll and the copied scroll Naruto had made.

Third Hokage: "Naruto, let's talk."
