Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Victory, Promise, and Smiles
"Kulu-Ya-Ku! Are you okay?" Su Yi called out with concern.
"Gah!" Kulu-Ya-Ku wobbled to its feet, its crest feathers slightly ruffled.
"Good thing Kulu-Ya-Ku is part Flying-type, so it can resist Fighting-type moves."
"Meteor Assault has a brief period of immobility. Now's the chance!"
"Kulu-Ya-Ku! Peck!" Su Yi decisively launched his attack!
Kulu-Ya-Ku swiftly extended its neck, unleashing a barrage of pecks upon the temporarily immobilized Sirfetch'd.
Thud, thud, thud.
"Fetch'd!" Sirfetch'd gritted its teeth, enduring the attack.
"The immobility is almost over! Kulu-Ya-Ku, Rock Smash—huh?!"
Just as Su Yi was about to maximize his damage output, Kulu-Ya-Ku suddenly tilted its head as if struck by inspiration. In an instant, it snatched away Sirfetch'd's leek sword and leek shield!
"Huh!?" Bea was dumbfounded. Was this even a legitimate strategy? Wasn't this just plain robbery!?
Now able to move again, the duck-like Pokémon became frantic, desperately trying to reclaim its weapons.
For Sirfetch'd, those weren't just weapons—they were symbols of honor and dignity.
However, losing its gear meant its combat ability had drastically decreased.
Kulu-Ya-Ku playfully dodged Sirfetch'd while curiously inspecting the equipment it had just snatched.
Su Yi couldn't help but chuckle. "I almost forgot—you're not just an egg thief, you're also a collector."
"What an unexpected turn of events! Bea is in trouble now!" Mustard remarked, thoroughly entertained.
"Alright! Take this chance! Fury Swipes!" Su Yi commanded with a grin.
"Squawk!" Kulu-Ya-Ku, now wielding the leek sword and shield, gleefully swung them at Sirfetch'd in a chaotic flurry.
"Sirfetch'd, fetch'd, sirfetch'd!" Sirfetch'd scrambled to evade attacks from its own weapons.
Thud!
The leek sword struck Sirfetch'd, sending it flying.
"Sirfetch'd, use Brick Break with your wings!" Bea instructed urgently.
"Sirfetch'd!" Sirfetch'd swung its wings fiercely, but Kulu-Ya-Ku mimicked it, raising the shield in front of itself, effortlessly blocking the attack.
"Sir... fetch'd..." Seeing Sirfetch'd's morale decline with the loss of its weapons, Bea found herself at a loss for solutions.
"Hahahaha! Kulu-Ya-Ku, get wild!" Su Yi encouraged.
"Gaah!" Kulu-Ya-Ku, now fully absorbed in its mischief, continued attacking Sirfetch'd with its own weapons, turning what was once a serious battle into pure chaos.
With its fighting spirit crushed and its gear stolen, Sirfetch'd was soon defeated under Kulu-Ya-Ku's relentless assault.
"Sir...fetch'd !" Just before it collapsed, Sirfetch'd reached out toward its beloved weapons.
Su Yi cleared his throat. "Alright, enough fun. Give them back."
Kulu-Ya-Ku hesitated but eventually returned the items to Sirfetch'd, albeit reluctantly.
Tears welled up in the duck Pokémon's eyes as it clutched its weapons before fainting.
"All three of Bea's Pokémon are unable to battle! The winner of this 3v3 Pokémon match is Su Yi!" Mustard announced immediately.
"You did well," Bea reassured her fallen Pokémon.
Su Yi walked over, scratching Kulu-Ya-Ku's head. "You little rascal, how can you be this mischievous?"
"Gah!" Kulu-Ya-Ku chirped proudly.
"this has been a spectacular battle—full of power and... surprises," Bea extended her hand.
Su Yi shook it firmly. "It was a meaningful match."
"So, what do you think?" Mustard asked.
Bea turned her gaze toward the distance.
Meanwhile, Su Yi cheerfully patted and praised each of his Pokémon one by one, occasionally playing around with them.
"He's creative and adaptable," Bea commented.
"And full of energy and emotion," Mustard added.
"Does he love battling in the same way you do?" Mustard suddenly asked.
"Master Mustard, what do you mean by that?" Bea looked puzzled.
"Su Yi understands many aspects of his Pokémon. He fights in a way that aligns with their habits and devises strategies that suit their styles."
"More importantly, there's a mutual trust between them. His Pokémon believe in his commands, and he trusts their instincts in battle."
"He isn't confined to rigid orders."
"But above all, he truly enjoys battling—he immerses himself in it. It's not just about victory for him."
With his hands behind his back, Mustard strolled away from the training ground.
Bea looked down at her hands, calloused and scarred from rigorous training, and murmured, "Not just about victory? Have I only been chasing others' expectations... and the reputation of being a karate prodigy?"
She wasn't naive—she understood that all this time, her drive to challenge Leon and become stronger stemmed from fulfilling her family's elite training expectations and living up to the 'karate genius' title bestowed upon her.
To uphold this image, she fought with cold precision, never allowing herself to show weakness.
It had been a long time since she last smiled during a battle—regardless of the outcome.
"Bea. That's okay to call you that, right?" Su Yi walked up to her.
"Of course, Mr. Su Yi," Bea responded formally.
"No need for 'Mr.'—sounds way too distant," Su Yi chuckled.
"Here, this is for you," Su Yi handed Bea a bottle of amber-colored liquid.
"This is?"
"Honey. Sweet honey can lighten your mood," Su Yi grinned.
"Sweet...?" Bea's eyes lit up, but realizing she was being watched, she quickly suppressed her eagerness.
"Thank you for the kind gesture," she said, accepting the jar.
"You weren't using your main team, were you?" Su Yi asked knowingly.
"That's right," Bea nodded.
"Then next time—probably soon—let's have another battle, a full-force one," Su Yi suggested.
"Of course! I never turn down a challenge," Bea said, clenching her fist with determination.
"Then it's a promise," Su Yi adjusted his backpack.
"You're heading off on another adventure?" Bea noticed his travel-ready attire.
"Adventure is my calling—free and unrestricted, I'm doing what I love," Su Yi smiled.
"Oh, and one more thing—girls look better when they smile." He pointed at his own cheeks playfully.
"Eh?!" Bea was caught off guard.
"Hahaha!" Su Yi laughed as he walked away.
"What a strange guy," Bea muttered.
Now that the battlefield was empty, Bea glanced at the jar of honey in her hands. She unscrewed the lid, dipped her finger in, and tasted it.
As the rich, natural sweetness spread across her tongue, she involuntarily narrowed her eyes in delight.
"Mm!"
Privately, Bea adored sweets, and for the first time in a long while, she smiled—a genuine, happy smile.
Meanwhile, in the Monster Hunter World...
Back in the New World, in the Ancient Forest...
The storm brought by the Kushala Daora had revitalized the jungle, making it more vibrant than ever.
Following the markers he had previously placed on his map, Su Yi arrived at the location near the suspected Pukei-Pukei nest.
Navigating through dense foliage, he followed the scoutflies to a nest tucked against a massive tree.
However, something was off—there were no signs of the Pukei-Pukei returning. The feathers in the nest were all old and dull.
Su Yi frowned.
"Did it not come back? Or did something happen to it?"
After all, the New World was full of dangers—one never knew whether tomorrow or disaster would arrive first.
"I'd better investigate deeper into the forest."
