Standing before darkness itself were three brilliant lights. 

Two of them glowed with a divine golden-like radiance—a male with wooden horns, golden-like patters running across his skin and a dark-skinned female whose appearance was out of place but still felt like it belonged with him altogether.

The two figures held hands, their presence unwavering, while the third stood beside them. His body emanated a creamy white, his cloak dyed in the same color, billowing against the howling wind.

However, the male standing alone was clearly more battered than the two beside him.

"What took you two so damn long?"

"Haha. Sorry, Aya. But don't worry—we're here to support you. Thanks for holding the boundary while we were gone."

"Don't mention it. I, just as much as both of you, want this guy out of our world as soon as possible."

He then turned to the two stars shining brilliantly at his side. Although he wasn't like them, he had still reached this state—Unchained.

A state that shattered the limitations of an exorcist, erasing the boundary between Yin and Yang, allowing one to become an existence akin to a Miko.

Only three people had ever achieved this state, but unlike his, theirs was temporary.

His Unchained was more grounded, a result of applying a different framework as an existence that shouldn't exist in this world.

However, since he was not the true Miko, the best he could do was stall the King of Impurity, locking himself in this never-ending battle for an entire year.

He lacked the true status of a Miko, yet it was certain. He had acquired the power of one, even if he lacked the true abilities of one.

"So? How was it?"

Despite standing at the edge of darkness, the male teased the Twin Stars with a smirk, making the two instantly blush.

"That—That!"

"Uhm… uhm…!"

Both flushed, struggling to form words.

The only reason they could laugh like this was because their guardian was right beside them.

Just as he was relieved to have them there, because now, with their combined powers, they could exorcise this thing.

However, honestly, having fought this thing for a year in the depths of Magano, he had come to a realization.

This thing… It was impossible to exorcise.

But, after coming in contact with "that," he had found a way. With the Twin Stars' help, he would be able to make it work.
