Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Have a Child
Shen Heyu followed closely behind him.
It was only morning now, and she didn’t understand why he was taking her away so early.
Once they were in the car, she understood. He was sitting in the driver’s seat and did not start the car right away. Instead, he turned to her and said, “I hope this isn’t about you tattling to grandma about something.”
Shen Heyu’s heart skipped a beat. She kept her composure, and her response was fearless and somewhat icy, “I’ve said I disdain doing such things.”
Pei Yansi glanced at her.
Her delicate features revealed fearlessness, showing a detachment as if she didn’t care about it all in the slightest.
Regarding Bai Sheng’er, she seemed to have never taken it to heart, except that day in the office when she asked about that shirt.
Thinking of this, Pei Yansi subtly furrowed his brows. What about that shirt? It had made her, who usually remained uninvolved in his affairs, change slightly.
Pei Yansi quickly composed himself and said to her, “I’m taking you to buy some things. I hope you can speak well in front of grandma.”
Shen Heyu remained silent, looking out the window without responding.
Their relationship had always been dominated by him. Whatever he said, she had no room to refute.
Just like how he could have countless women in the entertainment industry, but she, Shen Heyu, could only have him.
It seemed that Pei Yansi didn’t expect her to respond anyway. He started the car and headed to a nearby mall.

He bought her many things—clothes, bags, shoes, and jewelry, all very expensive. Shen Heyu noticed that they were even classier than those he bought for Bai Sheng’er.
She wondered if it was a coincidence that the money spent was exactly twice the amount she used for the PR fees this time.
Shen Heyu didn’t dwell on it. She had never been one to try to guess others’ motives.
Or perhaps, she had once tried to figure out how Pei Yansi felt about her, but as time passed, knowing that the more she pondered, the more it exhausted her and subjected her to his recklessness and hurt. Eventually, she reined in that inclination.
From then on, she no longer guessed his thoughts.
When they returned to the Pei Mansion, it was still afternoon, quite a while away from evening.
But Old Mrs. Pei saw them return and hurried to have the housekeeper prepare dinner, resulting in a very early evening meal.
It was barely five o’clock, still bright outside, yet dinner at the Pei Mansion was already served.
Shen Heyu, as usual, sat together with Pei Yansi.
She glanced at the dishes on the table—they were all her favorites, including two that Pei Yansi disliked most.
She instinctively looked at the man beside her, and sure enough, his expression darkened. All the dishes tonight contained coriander.
Old Mrs. Pei noticed his displeasure but cheerfully said, “I know you don’t eat coriander, and you might feel like spitting it out by accident. But Xiao Yu and I don’t mind at all.”
Pei Yansi watched her quietly without speaking.
She continued, “I just wanted to tell you, some of the things you do might not seem much to you, but they might make others feel sick. Xiao Yu is a good girl, and I hope you treat her well. Those messy people and things outside, clean them up as soon as you can.”
“Otherwise, you’ll end up eating coriander every day. If things upset people, you’ll always pay back a part of it in your meals.”
Pei Yansi perceived the deeper meaning in her words.
His hand tightened around the chopsticks, and his dark eyes looked at Shen Heyu beside him, not masking his displeasure in the slightest.
It even carried intense questioning and warnings.
Shen Heyu lowered her eyes, reading the words in his gaze, and said nothing more.
Old Mrs. Pei said, “Don’t look at her; she hasn’t complained to me about this. It’s been such a stir outside, do you think I know nothing?”
Pei Yansi’s tone was chilly, “I hope Grandma doesn’t interfere in my affairs, especially regarding emotional matters.”
“Not interfere and let you mess around? I’m telling you, no matter what, I will never acknowledge those improper women outside. You and Xiao Yu have been married for so long. I’m making it clear today, you must get pregnant within six months!”
Pei Yansi frowned, “Grandma…”
“Be quiet, the matter is settled. The company is so big, yet there isn’t a single child. I’m old and I want to hold my grandchild sooner. You should at least consider my feelings.”
Pei Yansi said nothing more, only his handsome face was filled with deep displeasure.
His face as dark as iron, staring at the cilantro in the dish, was even more irritable, his eyes filled with anger.
Eventually, Old Mrs. Pei didn’t force him to eat the cilantro and had the kitchen make a dish without cilantro, just a plate of stir-fried greens.
Pei Yansi spent the entire evening eating only white rice mixed with stir-fried greens.
After dinner, as the evening sky blazed with color, Shen Heyu was in the mansion garden helping Old Mrs. Pei water the plants.
Old Mrs. Pei’s shadow stretched long in the sunset. She smiled kindly at Shen Heyu, “Don’t worry, I’m here for you. Take this opportunity and have a child with him. Once the affection heats up, everything will get better. When there’s a child in the family, a man has something to care about and won’t think about wandering.”
Shen Heyu was reluctant, but facing her kindly smiling face, she didn’t voice any objections.
After all, no matter what, Pei Yansi was not likely to agree with her wishes.
The matters between them were not something outsiders could influence with a few words.
The night fell quickly, and after Old Mrs. Pei went to sleep first, Shen Heyu slowly returned to the bedroom she shared with Pei Yansi.
The bed linens had been changed to fresh and clean ones, and Pei Yansi, wearing a loose bathrobe, his strong chest partially exposed, his tanned skin looking tempting under the bright lights.
Even though Shen Heyu had seen his body countless times, this implicit exposure was still very provocative. She discreetly averted her eyes and picked her clothes from the wardrobe to enter the bathroom.
The two hardly spoke, resembling strangers just sharing a living space.
As Pei Yansi listened to the water running in the bathroom, images of their past times there flickered through his mind, causing an unexpected stir in his thoughts.
He became aroused.
Frowning, he pressed his fingers against his forehead, trying to suppress these feelings he found disgraceful. It wasn’t long before Shen Heyu came out, draped in a white bathrobe, revealing her delicate white legs.
His gaze fell on her, and he couldn’t help but swallow hard, his eyes becoming increasingly passionate.
Shen Heyu noticed the change in his gaze, said nothing, and while towel-drying her hair, walked over to blow-dry it. She had just picked up the hairdryer when he hugged her from behind.
Shen Heyu frowned, “I need to dry my hair.”
“I’ll help you.” Pei Yansi said, reaching to take the hairdryer from her hand.
Shen Heyu sidestepped, “Actually, there’s no need for this.”
At her words, Pei Yansi’s eyes darkened, and he tightly locked onto her delicate face.
