Chapter 6: Site 01 - SCP-002 Experimentation

{Day 4 - January 17th, 2010 - Foundation}
The shuffling of shoes echo through corridors in the Light Containment Zone as Researchers and Security prepare for the first test ever held on-site. The Researchers scramble to grab whatever they deem necessary to document the anomaly; video cameras, audio recorders, notepads, and more.
The dull hum of fluorescent lights adds to the tense atmosphere, as four Security Officers are wielding their firearms, escorting the brand new Class-D through the LCZ into the Light Inanimate Sector (L.I.S.).
Upon entering the L.I.S., the Security Officers guide the Class-D to the containment chamber of their first contained anomaly: SCP-002.
"What the hell am I doing here!?" The Class-D questions, the amnestics removing the memories of his capture and arrival to the Site.
The Security Officers disregard his question, and shove him into the Containment Chamber, before closing the door behind him. Stepping away from the door, two of the Security Officers leave the L.I.S. to continue patrolling the rest of the Site. The remaining two stand nearby against an adjacent wall, observing the Researchers and Class-D.
With the Class-D prepared for the experiment, the remaining Researchers and Senior Researchers flow into the L.I.S., each wielding a tool to document the progress of the experiment.
One of the Senior Researchers steps forward. "As you know, my name is Senior Researcher Ramirez. Official records will be noted as simply 'Doctor Ramirez'. The Administrator has entrusted us with the experiment, which will begin shortly."
The Senior Researcher, Doctor Ramirez, turns to address a group of Researchers. "Prepare the equipment."
The Researchers begin to set up various equipment. A video recorder and thermal camera are placed facing the containment chamber, with an additional Optical Spectrograph set up adjacent to them, facing directly towards the anomalous book in the chamber.
"Optical equipment prepared, moving on to audio and thaumaturgical equipment." One of the researchers calls out, as a large metallic container is opened, revealing a large audio recorder, and a low-level reality anchor.
The reality anchor was a small spherical device attached to a tripod, with rotating discs moving constantly within. A small screen showing a reading of 'Humes', and a 'Kant-Counter', both reading a value fluctuating from 95-101... An average for baseline reality.
"Low risk portable Scranton-Reality-Anchor is ready. Steady readings." One of the Researchers calls out, as the Scranton-Reality-Anchor (SRA) is set up near the containment chamber.
"Alright, everyone. Experimentation will now commence." Doctor Ramirez calls out to the personnel.
Doctor Ramirez would adjust the thermal cameras aimed at the book and the subject. The two Security Officers stand nearby with their eyes fixed on the room, observing the subject for erratic behaviour.
Doctor Ramirez would then speak towards one of the audio recorders, "session one, SCP-002. Analysis of interaction of Class-D subject on anomalous object."
Pressing a nearby button on the wall of the containment chamber, Doctor Ramirez would instruct the Class-D, "Attention Class-D personnel, please interact with the book in front of you."
Sliding his keycard at a nearby scanner, the glass cube covering the book rises- lifted by a metallic rope.
The Class-D, seeing the book removed from its protective container, would pick up the book and cautiously open it. The observing Researchers exchange glances, anticipating what could happen next.
Doctor Ramirez would again speak towards the audio recorders, "Class-D subject is beginning interaction with SCP-002. Continuing observation."
Upon opening the book, the Class-D would be seen showing signs of visible discomfort, the book producing veins across its spine, and an almost fluid-like motion across its cover. The pages have a faint glow, barely perceptible if not for the various optical equipment.
The room seemed to grow colder after being opened by the Class-D, the air heavy with an otherworldly sensation. Wrongness, if it could be put into sensation. The Researchers lean in closer, trying to gleam what is happening to the book, few looking through the thermal camera to see various heat signatures being produced from the book, only to suddenly disappear at random within the room in pockets of air.
One of the Security Officers shifts uncomfortably, "Something's wrong," he whispers to his colleague beside him.
Doctor Ramirez motions towards the Researchers, "move the equipment, look at the S.R.A".
The Security Officers and Researchers glance at the Scranton-Reality-Anchor, as it shakes under the strain of whatever the book is doing- nearing its maximum capability as a low-risk S.R.A. A few of the Researchers move a camera to aim at the S.R.A, documenting its interaction with an activated SCP-002.
Glancing back up at the Class-D, they flip through various pages, mumbling to themselves. Stopping at a page, the thermal camera detects a faint, unnatural mist seeping from the book's page, swirling around the Class-D subject's fingers. A Researcher points it out to a Security Officer, making them tense up- the click of the safety on their firearms being heard in the room.
The tension grew palpable, the Researchers and Security share concerned glances. Despite Doctor Ramirez' attempts to maintain composure, his voice betrays a hint of panic.
"We need to proceed with caution," he says, his eyes fixed on the Class-D through the thermal camera. "The book is becoming more active in the hands of the Class-D... We don't know what it is doing."
As the Class-D continued exploring the content of the page, the mist grew thicker, engulfing his entire hand in a thick ethereal fog. Doctor Ramirez would squeeze his hand tightly, voice rising.
"Something is happening, the Class-D' hand is becoming enveloped in a thick fog from the book." he says, eyes fixed on the feed through the thermal camera. "Prepare for security intervention if necessary."
The Security Officers raise their firearms towards the door, one holding their keycard to quickly open the containment chamber's door. The sight of the Researchers becoming concerned giving the two of them a small sense of adrenaline- preparing to stop the Class-D in whatever they are doing.
A loud crackling can then be heard, as small sparks fade in and out of existence across the Class-D' hand, as they slowly extend their hand towards the door of the containment chamber, the other firmly grasping onto the book.
"Something is off with the subject," one of the Researchers calls out in concern, zooming in on the face of the subject. "Eyes are giving off an unnatural hue of colour, and extremely dilated".
Just as the other Researchers move to look through the camera feed, a loud bang can be heard- the personnel in the room blinded by a sudden bright flash within the containment chamber. Glancing at the containment door, a visible dent can be seen, a light tone of red apparent- as the metal was superheated momentarily.
Hearing the bang and sudden flash, the two Security Officers breach the room, forcing the door open as the hydraulics attempt to open it. The Class-D Subject turns towards them, raising his hand in their direction, sparks of light crackling across his hand.
Five loud cracks come from the barrels of the Security Officers firearms, two P90s. The Class-D collapses with a thud, a red puddle slowly forming beneath them. The book slips from their grasp, landing beside them.
"Subject terminated," one of the Security Officers calls out. "Clear to come out now, Researchers."
The Researchers slowly stand up from various positions, with Doctor Ramirez coming to the front of the group.
"Experiment.... Experiment concluded. Further testing required, Class-D subject was terminated by Security Personnel," He says towards the recording devices in the room. "Further testing required... Temporary classification of Euclid."
He glances down at the Scranton-Reality-Anchor, the lights dimmed and sphere has stopped rotating, wisps of smoke coming from the device...

A sudden flash of light and ping wakes me, the system appearing in front of my vision as I groggily catch up to my surroundings. Once grounded back into reality, I glance at the system' screen.
