Reincarnated in DxD With the 100X System

Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - From Background Character to Center Stage

Aika Kiryuu.

Resident sharp-tongued commentator, legendary gossip broker, and all-around agent of chaos.

She approached with the kind of casual swagger that suggested she had already prepared at least ten jokes at my expense. Arms crossed, smirk firmly in place, her golden-brown eyes swept over me like she was analyzing an unsolved scientific phenomenon.

Then she grinned.

"Did aliens kidnap you overnight, Malrik? Because you went from nerdy to cover-model in record time."

I let out a short laugh, leaning back in my seat.

Finally, someone in this class who wasn't treating me like I had personally offended the natural order of puberty.

"Nah," I replied smoothly, mirroring her teasing tone. "If aliens were involved, they at least owed me a cool spaceship."

Aika raised an eyebrow. "So you're saying this glow-up was natural?"

I shrugged, flashing an easy smile. "What can I say? Some guys just level up overnight."

She snorted. "Right. And next, you're gonna tell me you unlocked powers, too."

Now, that one made me pause.

Because, technically?

She wasn't wrong.

I studied her for a moment, my curiosity piqued.

Aika Kiryuu—the class clown, the overlooked side character, the girl who knew everyone's secrets but never played a big role herself.

But why should she stay that way?

She was sharp, funny, and underestimated. And in a world full of devils, angels, and fallen gods, that was wasted potential.

"With the right training… I could change that."

"I could turn her into something more than just a background character."

I smirked. "Maybe the aliens did take me. Want me to ask them to kidnap you next?"

For just a fraction of a second, her confidence wavered.

A faint pink dusted her cheeks before she covered it up with an amused scoff.

Smooth recovery.

Placing a hand on her hip, she gave me a pointed look.

"Careful, Van—flirting openly like that might just break Kuoh's gossip machine."

I chuckled. "Guess I should make it worth the scandal, then."

Aika studied me, her smirk widening like she had just discovered her new favorite source of entertainment.

"Alright, I'll admit it—you've become a lot more fun to mess with."

I shrugged, my grin matching hers. "Stick around, Kiryuu. I promise I'm only getting started."

And just like that—I had made my first real connection.

One that might just change the future of Kuoh Academy's supernatural battlefield.

—————

Lunch break.

By now, I had fully settled into my role as Kuoh Academy's most unexpected anomaly.

Students still whispered about me, some stealing glances, others pretending not to stare when I caught them. A few were bold enough to point discreetly, like I was some kind of glitch in their carefully structured reality.

I wasn't complaining.

But what did catch my interest?

The distinct feeling of being watched.

Not just the usual gawkers. This was different.

I casually turned my head toward the popular crowd's table—and there they were.

Rias Gremory – The Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess, the queen of grace and power, sitting with effortless elegance. Her deep blue eyes studied me with interest, her lips curled into a slight, thoughtful smile.

She leaned closer to Akeno, whispering something. Akeno giggled.

Sona Sitri – Kuoh's calculating Student Council President, the embodiment of rationality wrapped in a school uniform. Unlike Rias, her gaze wasn't warm—it was analytical. Cool. Measured.

She adjusted her glasses and murmured something to Tsubaki, who nodded subtly in response.

It was obvious.

They were talking about me.

"Well, that didn't take long."

Most people? They'd avoid walking up to the two most powerful women in Kuoh Academy unprompted.

But me?

I was not most people.

With a calm, unhurried stride, I walked toward their tables.

The moment I neared, the entire atmosphere shifted. Conversations quieted. Heads turned. The Occult Research Club and Student Council members subtly adjusted their postures, their attention now fully on me.

Akeno's lips curled in amusement. Kiba's gaze flickered with polite curiosity. Even Tsubaki's ever-calm demeanor sharpened slightly.

Good. That meant I wasn't just some passing curiosity.

I offered a smooth nod to both of them.

"Gremory-san. Sitri-san. Hope I'm not interrupting anything."

Rias's smile widened just a fraction as she rested her chin lightly on her hand. "Not at all. In fact, we were just… discussing you."

Sona, ever the skeptic, studied me carefully. "Van-san, you seem… different today. Quite drastically."

I smirked slightly. No point in playing dumb.

"Decided it was time to stop being background decoration. I figured Kuoh could use a little excitement."

Akeno chuckled, her eyes glinting with playful interest. "Oh my~ What an interesting choice of words."

Sona didn't react to the banter, her gaze cutting straight through my casual demeanor like a scalpel.

"She's sharp. No way she's letting this slide easily."

"Indeed," she mused.

"Physical changes like yours aren't exactly… common overnight occurrences."

I met her gaze head-on, keeping my expression unreadable.

"She's testing me."

I shrugged, offering an easy-going smile.

"What can I say? Some people wake up and decide to turn their lives around. I just did it more effectively than most."

A vague answer. Just enough to intrigue them without giving anything away.

Rias leaned forward slightly, studying me like a puzzle she wanted to solve.

Then, with a warm yet undeniably strategic smile, she offered,

"Well, Van-san, if you ever feel like discussing… interesting changes, you're welcome to visit the Occult Research Club sometime."

A friendly offer, wrapped in intrigue.

"She wants to keep an eye on me. Smart."

Sona, on the other hand, took a different approach.

"You should consider joining the Student Council's activities if you're looking for something productive to do."

"Ah. A tactical move. She wants me in a structured environment where she can monitor me more closely."

I had expected this.

Rias and Sona were both tacticians—but their methods differed.

Rias played the social game, drawing people in with warmth and charm.

Sona played the logical game, ensuring control over anything unpredictable.

But I had my own game to play.

I couldn't just drop the bombshell that I had a broken cheat system capable of multiplying anything I gained.

That would lead to too many questions. Too much attention.

Instead?

I smirked internally.

"Playing mysterious might actually draw them in faster."

With that in mind, I gave them a charming, noncommittal nod.

"I'll keep that in mind, Gremory-san, Sitri-san. Thanks for the invitations."

Then, without waiting for a response, I turned and walked away, leaving them with more questions than answers.

And if their lingering gazes were anything to go by…

I had just successfully put myself on their radar.
