Chapter 96: The Perfect Girlfriend
"She's here..."
A small smile appeared on Shido's face as he saw who had just transferred in.
It was the Spirit of Time, Tokisaki Kurumi. Also known as "Nightmare," she was infamous as the most dangerous Spirit. The very same one who had once tried to devour him, not in a fun way.
The classroom, which had been momentarily spellbound by her presence, finally snapped back to reality as Kurumi finished speaking. Yet, even as reason returned, the students could do little more than gasp in awe, utterly captivated by her beauty.
Kurumi didn't mind the reaction, she scanned the room until she located Shido who is looking at her with a poker face. Her eyes lit up and she revealed a seemingly sweet smile that got her a lot of howling from the boys.
Shido let out a bitter chuckle at their reaction. Sure, she looked elegant standing there, radiating charm with every movement. She was the perfect girlfriend candidate in every boys opinion. But what would they think if they knew the truth? That the girl they were fawning over was a mass murderer who had taken the lives of more than 10,000 people? He himself had struggled to believe it, until he fought her.
On the other hand Kurumi ignored everyone's reaction and watched Shido from her position.
Although she was not sure why his appearance was different from when he was in his Spirit Form. Kurumi knew that Shido was the same Spirit that escaped her that night.
Tokisaki Kurumi then shifted her gaze from Shido to the rest of the class and said with a perfect smile.
"Oh, I should mention this but I am a Spirit…"
Everyone who was cheering stared at her speechlessly. It's like she said something ridiculous.
Shido let out a bitter laugh. He turned his head and saw that Tohka and Origami's mouth was wide open, agape at Kurumi's words. However, while Tohka's expression only had a look of curiosity, Origami on the other hand was genuinely shocked by Kurumi's introduction.
Her eyes turned sharp as locking Kurumi on her sight. Although she ha already let go of her hatred towards Spirit, she knew that there is still that one crazy Spirit who will indiscriminately kill anyone when she's board.
Nightmare.
Just from the name itself already gave chills to anyone who knows her.
She was the only Spirit that was constantly fighting with Wizards. Fear was a foreign concept to her. Instead, she charged through their ranks with a twisted smile, laughing eerily as if reveling in the chaos.
But what made her troublesome is her ability to create clones and time manipulation. Fortunately, there was an Adeptus 2 that is very experienced on taking down Nightmare and forcing her to retreat each time.
Back to the classroom.
Okamine-sensei, felt a bit awkward by Kurumi's introduction, unsure how to proceed. Forcing a smile, she cleared her throat and attempted to move the class forward.
"That's erm... quite a unique introduction, isn't it?"
She wiped away the sweat forming on her forehead, wondering why her transfer students always seemed to be so eccentric.
First, there was Tohka who was overly energetic but, at the very least, manageable. But Kurumi? Kurumi was on an entirely different level. Okamine-sensei could only assume the girl was going through an extreme case of a late eighth-grade syndrome.
In order to prevent Kurumi from saying something ridiculous again, Okamine-sensei continued to speak.
"Well then, please take a a seat..."
"Before I sit down. May I ask one more thing?"
Kurumi interrupted Okamine-sensei from speaking causing her to awkwardly smile. She could do nothing but reply to her.
"What is it, Tokisaki-san?"
Kurumi placed a delicate hand on her chest, her posture refined like that of a noble lady. With a gentle smile, she spoke,
"I'm still unfamiliar with the school grounds. If possible, I'd like someone to show me around."
However, as she say that, her crimson eye was focused on Shido.
'Shit.'
Shido couldn't help but felt his lips twitched when he saw Kurumi looking at his direction. She completely ignored Tohka and Origami who was on his side and only gazed at his figure.
Shido cursed inwardly. He knew all too well what Kurumi was planning.
What confused him, however, was how she seemed to recognize him as the Spirit she had fought before.
Although, he was confident that no one would recognize the similarities between normal forma and Spirit form, Kurumi seemed to be able to tell that it was him the first moment she laid her eyes on him.
Her gaze was that of a predator eyeing its prey. Not one that struck immediately, but one that toyed with its victim, savoring their struggle until they finally succumbed to despair.
That is the same eyes, Kurumi was using to looked at Shido. He could even feel the intense arousal she was emitting from her body. Why arousal? Shido wasn't sure, but he could tell that her gaze carried an intense lust towards him by using observation haki.
Shido was speechless not by the emotion that Kurumi was directing towards him, but because he didn't thought that his observation haki could also sense this kind of feeling which made him at loss how to react.
However, Kurumi didn't seem to know what's going on inside his mind instead. She just casually walked towards Shido while maintaining her perfect smile. She completely ignored all the response from the boys including Tonomachi who was now looking deflated because of the rejection.
"Could I ask you to do it, Shido-san?"
Kurumi beamed at him with the grace of a noble lady, as if requesting her loyal knight's protection. Shido felt a bead of sweat trickle down his forehead. Her tone made it look like she would not take a no for an answer.
The entire class fell silent for a moment before erupting into whispers, as the transfer student asked Shido to show her around.
Murmurs filled the air as students speculated whether the two knew each other.
The boys glared at Shido as if he had stolen their girlfriends, their eyes burning with envy. Meanwhile, the girls squealed in excitement, already gossiping about the unexpected development.
Although, they had to admit that Shido became more good looking recently. the fact that a stunning transfer student had invited him personally, on her very first day, no less, was too much for their fragile hearts to handle.
Meanwhile, Tohka's expression darkened as she glared at Kurumi, her teeth clenched slightly. She didn't fully understand why she felt this way, but her instincts screamed that this girl was dangerous.
However, due to Tohka's naturally simple-minded nature, she came to a much different conclusion, Kurumi must be interested in Shido!
That thought alone was enough to put her on high alert. From this moment on, she resolved to keep her guard up against this suspicious girl.
She was actually not wrong since Kurumi love Shido beyond normal peoples understanding. She love him so much that she wanted to eat Shido.
A twisted way to express her love.
It would be good if it was that kind of 'eat' but Kurumi's intention was to literally eat Shido.
Meanwhile, the class's gossip mill was running at full speed.
"What? What? Itsuka-kun is cheating on Tohka-chan?"
"Wow, I didn't expect him to be such a womanizer."
"That's so lame."
The trio Ai, Mai, Mii chattered excitedly, sharing knowing looks as they watched the scene unfold like an entertaining drama.
