Chapter 25: chapter 25 evolutions in alchemy

As Kaelith walked alongside Veyron, his mind was filled with memories of his past life.

"Veyron… The Grandmaster Alchemist of Twinkle Stars."

In his previous life, Veyron had risen from obscurity to become one of the most feared and respected alchemists in all of Eldoria. His potions had turned the Twinkle Stars guild from a mid-tier organization into an unstoppable force, powerful enough to seize control of an entire empire.

But back then, Kaelith had never had the chance to interact with him. By the time he truly understood the significance of alchemy, Veyron had already reached the peak, crafting legendary potions that only the top-ranking guild members could afford.

Even the super guilds had to negotiate and bribe for a chance to acquire his potions. Some players were willing to pay real money—millions—just to get their hands on one of his high-tier concoctions.

Kaelith gritted his teeth.

"In my past life, I had to fight against players who drank his potions. They had ridiculous buffs, insane regeneration, and resistance to nearly everything. But this time… I won't be on the receiving end. This time, I'll be the one benefiting from them."

And the reason?

Alchemy Evolution.

Alchemy wasn't a simple craft that players could master just by grinding levels. Unlike combat classes that steadily grew stronger through experience points, alchemy evolved when specific conditions were met.

There were five evolutions, and each one brought a fundamental shift in how alchemy worked:

1. First Evolution – Apprentice Alchemist

Players focused on basic potion-making with a heavy reliance on quantity.

Success rates were unpredictable, but failures weren't too punishing.

Most alchemists stopped here, as higher evolutions required dedication.

2. Second Evolution – Journeyman Alchemist

Success rates became more stable, but material costs increased.

Alchemists could begin experimenting with poison, antidotes, and advanced potions.

Some alchemists found this stage too difficult and quit.

3. Third Evolution – Master Alchemist

Quality took priority over quantity.

High-tier potions became possible, but failures resulted in explosions or wasted materials.

Only the truly skilled could progress past this point.

4. Fourth Evolution – Grandmaster Alchemist

Potions with permanent stat boosts became possible.

Legendary elixirs could be crafted, but ingredients were extremely rare.

Only a handful of alchemists ever reached this stage.

5. Fifth Evolution – Philosopher Alchemist

The peak of alchemy.

Able to create immortal-grade elixirs capable of reshaping a player's very existence.

Potions that could reverse death, enhance a player beyond normal limits, or even alter the fabric of Eldoria itself.

In Kaelith's past life, Veyron was the only player in the entire game to reach this stage.

And Twinkle Stars had monopolized his creations.

They had won wars without fighting. A single potion could wipe out entire guilds, weaken entire armies, or boost their own warriors beyond what was thought possible.

Kaelith exhaled sharply.

"This guy doesn't even know his own potential yet."

Veyron was still standing there, frustrated at being kicked out by Lark. The idiot manager didn't even realize he had just thrown away the greatest alchemist in history.

But Kaelith knew.

"Last time, I had to deal with the consequences of his potions. This time… I'll make sure those potions belong to me."

He glanced at Veyron, an idea forming in his mind.

"Before Twinkle Stars gets him… I will."

Frost Haven – A New Partnership

Veyron stared at Kaelith, his mind racing.

10,000 credits.

That wasn't just money—it was security. A year's salary for a standard white-collar worker. Enough to rent a proper workshop, buy high-quality ingredients, and finally break free from relying on guilds like Pink Solutions.

Yet, it was also a risk.

"You're serious?" Veyron finally asked, crossing his arms. His voice was skeptical, guarded. "10,000 credits upfront and 15% on all alchemy sales? Just like that?"

Kaelith tilted his head, his smirk playful. "Mhm~!" He hummed in an almost singsong tone.

Veyron wasn't an idiot. This was too generous.

"What's the catch?" he demanded.

Kaelith clasped his hands behind his back, rocking on his heels like a mischievous child. "No catch~! You sign, I pay. Easy-peasy!"

Veyron's brow furrowed. He knew how the world worked—nothing came without strings attached. And yet, Kaelith didn't seem like he was lying. His tone was too casual, too confident, as if he had already calculated the risk and decided it was worth it.

Veyron glanced down at his own hands—burnt fingertips, calloused palms. Proof of years spent working with volatile mixtures, always pushing the boundaries of alchemy. He had talent, but no resources. And alchemy wasn't cheap.

Still…

"You want to give 10,000 credits to an alchemist with a 40% success rate?" Veyron asked, his voice laced with suspicion. "You do realize I fail more than half the time, right?"

Kaelith giggled—actually giggled—as if he found the question adorable.

"And yet, your potions are 9 out of 10 in quality," he cooed. "Meanwhile, those mass-produced ones Pink Solutions sells? Three out of ten at best."

Veyron felt his jaw tighten.

"You did your research," he muttered.

"Of course~!" Kaelith beamed. "Alchemy isn't about throwing random ingredients together and hoping for the best. High-quality potions matter. When high-level dungeons open, people will pay for consistency."

Veyron exhaled, rubbing his sore throat where Lark had grabbed him earlier.

He could walk away.

Go back to begging for scraps, struggling to afford materials, watching guilds like Pink Solutions dominate the market with their cheap, barely functional garbage.

Or…

He could take the deal.

A year's salary. A fresh start. A chance to actually compete.

After a long pause, Veyron extended his hand.

"Fine." His voice was steady, his decision made. "You've got yourself an alchemist."

Kaelith grasped his hand, shaking it firmly. His grip was soft but unwavering.

"Yay~!" Kaelith cheered. "Now, let's do the paperwork~!"

The Contract

Kaelith pulled up his system interface with a flick of his wrist, opening the trade contract menu.

A glowing parchment materialized in the air between them, detailing the agreement:

10,000 credits upfront.

15% cut on all alchemy-related sales.

No restrictions on independent research.

No guild interference.

Veyron scanned the contract, searching for hidden loopholes. But—there were none.

Kaelith wasn't trying to trap him into a one-sided deal. If anything, this was the most balanced contract he had ever seen.

Who the hell is this guy? Veyron thought, his respect for Kaelith growing.

Still, he wasn't about to be naive. "And when exactly do I get my 10,000 credits?"

Kaelith clasped his hands together, swaying slightly. Then, in an unbearably cute voice, he said:

"I'll pay you in two~!"

Veyron blinked.

"In two…?" he repeated slowly.

Kaelith grinned, eyes sparkling. "Mhm~! Two days! Or two weeks! Or two months! Who knows~?"

A vein in Veyron's forehead twitched.

"Are you kidding me?" he growled.

Kaelith giggled again, winking. "Of course I am~! I wouldn't scam my favorite alchemist~!"

Before Veyron could even react, a system notification chimed:

[10,000 credits have been transferred to your account.]

Veyron checked his balance—his breath caught.

It was real. The money was already there.

Kaelith stretched lazily, as if he had just completed some casual transaction instead of dropping a small fortune on a near-stranger.

"See?" Kaelith giggled. "I'm nice~!"

Veyron exhaled, his grip tightening around his alchemy bag. This was it.

For the first time in years, he wasn't just some disposable craftsman.

He had backing. He had resources.

And he had a reason to prove his worth.

Veyron met Kaelith's gaze.

"Alright," he said, his voice steady. "Let's make some money."
