Naruto: Spiral Into The Darkness

Chapter 5: Mission Brief : Operation Eight Tails

Madara's voice cut through the silence, his words dripping with an air of detachment. "Now that we have discussed that, it's about time you looked for new bodies, since you lost the other five." The sound of his voice seemed to echo off the cold, grey walls of the room, amplifying the gravity of his words. "The Human Path, the Animal Path, the Asura Path, the Preta Path, and the Chikushodo Path... all gone." Nagato's gaze seemed to cloud over, his Rinnegan eyes gleaming with a hint of sorrow. The faint scent of incense wafted through the air, a stark contrast to the tension that hung like a challenge.

"I am aware, Madara," Nagato said, his voice barely above a whisper. The soft beeping of his life-support machines seemed to underscore the fragility of his existence.

Madara's expression turned calculating, his Sharingan eyes glinting with a hint of excitement. "And Sasuke and his team did a lousy job. That Eight-Tails they captured was a dud." The sound of his voice seemed to take on a mocking tone, a cruel amusement that seemed to dance in his eyes. "But having Naruto Uzumaki here changes everything. I think I know just how we could use him to his full potential."

Nagato's eyes snapped back into focus, his gaze locking onto Madara's. "Don't tell me, Madara..." he trailed off, his voice laced with a hint of trepidation. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as Madara's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"Yes, exactly. Naruto Uzumaki and Kisame... we have to capture the Eight-Tails, Nagato." Madara's voice seemed to take on a sense of anticipation, a thrill of excitement that seemed to build in the air.

Nagato's expression turned thoughtful, his eyes narrowing into slits. "Well, I can't object, but he's yet to master the Nine-Tails' power..." he trailed off, his voice laced with concern. The sound of his own doubts seemed to echo in his mind, a reminder of the risks they were taking.

Madara's gaze seemed to bore into Nagato's soul, his eyes glinting with a hint of excitement. "Perhaps this will be a good test to see his potential," he said, his voice dripping with an air of anticipation. The sound of his words seemed to hang in the air, a challenge that seemed to echo through the silence.

Madara's voice was low and measured as he spoke to Nagato, his tone dripping with an air of detachment. The sound of his voice seemed to reverberate off the cold, grey walls of the room, casting a somber mood. "Kisame and Zetsu are gathered at the hideout just outside the Hidden Rain Village. You go as Pain and meet them there with Naruto Uzumaki. It's time."

Nagato's gaze seemed to cloud over, his Rinnegan eyes gleaming with a hint of determination. The sweet, acrid scent of sandalwood incense wafted through the air, a jarring contrast to the tension that hung like a challenge.

"Very well, Konan," Nagato said, his voice barely above a whisper. Konan, standing beside him, nodded silently, her eyes fixed on Nagato's frail form.

Meanwhile, in another room, Naruto stood before a paper clone of Konan, his expression serious. "Pain says it's time for you to get ready," the clone said, its voice devoid of emotion.

Naruto's eyes narrowed into slits as he nodded, his gaze burning with determination. He wore the iconic Akatsuki robes, the black cloak with a red interior, and the hood pulled up over his head, casting his face in shadow.

As he moved, the creak of his boots echoed through the room, a stark reminder of the gravity of his decision. The air seemed to thicken with anticipation, the weight of his actions hanging heavy on his shoulders like a physical burden.

Back in the other room, Madara, or rather, Obito Uchiha, watched Nagato with an air of detachment, his Sharingan eye gleaming with a hint of curiosity.

Nagato, as Pain, accompanied by Konan, set out for the hideout outside the Hidden Rain Village. Naruto followed closely behind, his footsteps quiet on the forest path. The silence along the way was palpable, punctuated only by the soft rustling of leaves and the distant call of a bird. Naruto's expressionless face seemed chiseled from stone, a testament to the loss of his innocence. Pain's vague demeanor remained unchanged, his Rinnegan eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity.

As they approached the hideout, a cave hidden in the mountains, the air grew thick with the scent of damp earth and mold. Kisame, leaning against the cave entrance, eyed them with a mixture of curiosity and annoyance, the Samehada tied to his back seeming to hum with malevolent energy. Zetsu hovered nearby, his high-pitched voice chattering incessantly as he spoke to Kisame.

When Pain arrived, Kisame's expression turned relieved. "Finally," he muttered, his voice laced with sarcasm.

Pain's gaze swept the area, his eyes lingering on Kisame and Zetsu before coming to rest on the cave entrance. "I wonder what is so important that we had to meet up here," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

Kisame's grin faltered, and he nodded, his expression turning serious. "I was starting to think you'd forgotten about us, Pain."

Pain's expression remained impassive, but his Rinnegan eyes seemed to gleam with a hint of amusement. "Kisame, Zetsu, I apologize for keeping you waiting."

Zetsu's chatter ceased, and he looked at Pain with interest. "Where's Lord Madara? Won't he be joining us?"

Pain's gaze turned to Zetsu, his expression unreadable. "I'm afraid not. Let me get down to business."

As Pain spoke, Naruto and Konan waited outside the cave, their presence a silent witness to the events unfolding within

Pain's gaze swept the room, his eyes lingering on Kisame and Zetsu before coming to rest on the entrance of the cave. "I know you might find this quite unexpected, but we have a new member," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

Kisame's eyes narrowed, his interest piqued. "I'm getting excited," he said, his voice dripping with anticipation.

Zetsu's eyes widened, his voice filled with curiosity. "I wonder who it is."

Pain's gaze turned to the entrance, where Konan stood waiting. "Konan, bring him in."

Naruto stepped forward, his eyes scanning the room as he entered. His Akatsuki robes billowed behind him, and his expression was serious, like a rogue ninja. Kisame's eyes widened, a low whistle escaping his lips.

"Well, this certainly exceeded my expectations," Kisame said, his voice dripping with amusement. "It's the fox kid from the Hidden Leaf."

Naruto's gaze locked onto Kisame, his eyes flashing with a hint of defiance.

Pain's voice cut through the tension, his words dripping with an air of detachment. "Naruto Uzumaki, you're hereby officially a member of the Akatsuki."

Zetsu's eyes sparkled with curiosity, his voice filled with excitement. "Not quite what I expected, Pain."

Kisame's grin faltered, and he nodded, his expression turning serious. "Welcome to the team, kid."

Pain's gaze swept the room, his eyes lingering on Naruto before coming to rest on Kisame. "And now, Kisame, the Eight-Tails remains uncaptured. The Uchiha kid failed."

Naruto's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger, his mind racing with thoughts of Sasuke.

Pain's voice continued, his words dripping with an air of detachment. "You and Naruto Uzumaki have been tasked to retrieve the Eight-Tails."

Kisame's face lit up with excitement, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I could take it alone, but having the kid works too."
