My Charity System made me too OP

Chapter 197: Max

After spending a few more days at the orphanage, Leon was finally ready to return to the Tower.

But before that, he made a stop at Lock's Store.

As soon as he entered, the attendants were about to greet him, but then—

Max suddenly rushed out from the back, stepping into the store's main hall and staring at Leon in excitement.

"Does the store manager know the Champion?" a curious shop assistant whispered to another, both glancing at Leon with awe and uncertainty.

"I don't know… but they seem close," the other whispered back.

Leon, unfazed, smiled as he greeted Max.

"How are you doing?" Leon asked, offering a firm handshake.

Max chuckled, shaking Leon's hand with a grin.

"Haha, I'm doing great! But damn, you're setting your own competition now, huh?" he joked, laughing heartily.

Leon simply nodded with a small smile.

"Anyway, I'm leaving," Leon said, his tone calm.

Max's grin faltered slightly, but he quickly covered it with a playful smirk.

"Well, I knew this day would come." Max patted Leon's shoulder. "You belong in the Tower, kid. Just keep ascending."

He gave a thumbs-up, his eyes filled with genuine support.

Leon nodded once again.

"I'm here to say goodbye…" he said, pausing for a moment before taking out a Hyper Strength Ability Crystal from his pocket.

"And to give you this."

Max's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the rare ability crystal in Leon's hand.

"You… You're giving me this!?" Max asked, stunned.

Leon simply smirked, holding out the crystal.

"A parting gift."

"I don't know if this will help you," Leon said, handing over the Hyper Strength Ability Crystal, "but if you ever want, you can try to ascend the Tower."

Max stared at the ability crystal, then back at Leon, his hands trembling as he held it.

"Leon... I... I don't know what to say," Max stuttered, his voice cracking with emotion.

No one knew just how much he had longed to climb the Tower. But his dream had been shattered due to his ability—an ability so weak that he had no chance of passing the Tower trials.

Yet now…

Now, with this Hyper strength Ability Crystal, he might actually have a chance.

"Thank you, Leon. Thank you!" Max said, his eyes tearing up, his emotions overwhelming him. He clutched the crystal tightly, feeling a renewed hope he thought he had lost forever.

Leon simply stood there, watching as Max wiped his tears away.

Then, after a short pause, Leon smirked.

"It's okay. I actually have something else for you too."

He reached into his storage ring and took out a Legacy Book of Rune Alchemy.

This was the Legacy Book he had obtained after clearing the Alchemy Dungeon, but he had never needed it—his own ???-Tier version of Rune Alchemy was already far superior.

Originally, he had planned to give it to Roselia, but now, he had something even better in mind for her.

And since his Charity System gave him rebates when he donated any items, giving it to Max seemed like the perfect choice, and he can give the better version to Roselia.

"I have this Legacy Book. It's of no use to me, so you can have it," Leon said casually.

The store attendants, who had been watching silently, suddenly gasped in shock.

A Legacy Book was not just a book—it was like giving someone a second class, something that could completely change a person's fate.

And here was Leon, the Champion of the City, just handing one over like it was nothing!

"N-No! Absolutely not!" Max shouted, taking a step back, shaking his head.

"I can't accept something this expensive and priceless!"

Leon sighed.

"Fine," he said with a smirk.

"I'll just leave it right here then. Anyone can pick it up as they please."

With that, Leon dropped the book onto the floor and turned away, walking off.

"Wait, you bastard!" Max yelled, his face red with frustration.

He rushed forward, quickly grabbing the book before anyone else could take it.

But when he looked up, Leon was already standing outside.

And then—

Leon vanished.

"See you in the Tower, fatty senior!" Leon's voice echoed as he disappeared, his Arune portal ability activating.

Max froze, gritting his teeth as he stared at the spot where Leon had been.

"...That bastard," he muttered under his breath.

"I was supposed to help him, not the other way around."

He looked down at the Legacy Book in his hands.

Then, taking a deep breath, he poured his mana into it—

And in an instant, the Legacy of Rune Alchemy awakened within him.

"Just wait, you bastard! I'll come back with an even better Legacy for you!" Max vowed in silence.

That very day, he resigned from his manager post and entered the Tower.

Selecting the difficulty level, he walked toward the Trial Floor, determined to begin his trial and ascend as an Ascender.

"Just you wait, Leon..." Max mumbled as he stepped into the Trial World, ready to face his first challenge—

And begin his journey as an Ascender.

As Max stepped into the Trial World, his surroundings shifted. The bright sky of the city vanished, replaced by an endless dark void filled with floating stone platforms. A deep, mechanical voice echoed in his mind:

"Welcome, Challenger. You have chosen to ascend the Tower. Your first trial will now begin."

Suddenly, golden runes appeared in the air, forming words:

[Trial of Endurance – Survive for 10 Minutes]

Unlike Leon, who had chosen the highest difficulty trial, Max had opted for the normal difficulty, leading to this standard trial.

Max nodded as he checked his abilities. His assets included Rune Creation (Tier 1), allowing him to create basic elemental runes like fire, water, and lightning. Additionally, he had gained Hyper Strength from Leon, which increased his strength 30 times.

Taking a deep breath, Max etched runes onto the back of his hands—one for lightning and one for fire. As the runes activated, flames and lightning coated his right and left hands respectively.

"Begin!" he declared, clenching his fists.

The ground trembled as the monsters began to spawn.
