Anyone who knows something about Hollywood movies has a general understanding of the concept of a three-act play.

But in fact, it is different from what many people think that a three-act play uses the plot as a turning point for transitions.

From the perspective of script concept, the division of the three acts of a three-act play is actually based on the progression and turning points of the characters.

For example, the most commonly used positive character arc story in Hollywood is the three-act play of "learning [the truth] from [the lie]."

The three acts are "The Call to Adventure", "Being Challenged" and finally "Transformed into a New Person".

These three major stages are all divided around the protagonist's status.

Combining the above two points, it should be clear that as the protagonist of the story, he must have believed some kind of [lie] when he appeared on the scene.

Hollywood screenwriters do this because it is easier to describe a flawed protagonist than a perfect protagonist because all they have to do is focus on his flaws.

So in movies, we often see that the protagonist has flaws when he appears on the stage.

It doesn't mean that the protagonist is a disabled person who is missing some organs, but that compared to a perfect person in the general impression, he is missing something, and it is supplemented in the following story.

The things that the protagonist lacks correspond to the protagonist's [lies].

This [lie] is not a lie in the real sense, but refers to the protagonist's wrong beliefs or faith in society or the world.

"So, what do you think is Shirou Emiya's [lie]?" Nanaya looked at Sugiyama, hoping that he could give her an answer.

"Um..."

Sugiyama's eyes were full of confusion. He had some idea but didn't know how to express it.

Nanaya looked up at the sky, where a night passenger plane was flying over the city.

This time, Nanaya did not play a guessing game with Sugiyama, but took the initiative to speak it out.

"A person who is haunted by [ghosts], believes [lies], and has his own [desires]. This is the protagonist at the beginning of the story, Shirou Emiya, whom you play."

Sugiyama nodded.

"The plot we are filming now is the first act of the three-act play, which is the [Adventure Call] section. At this stage, the protagonist has just escaped from the [normal world] and has not suffered any setbacks. He is almost blind to the [lies] he believes in. So when such a person like Shirou Emiya hears about the Holy Grail War, what kind of mood will he feel?"

The concept of [normal world] has been mentioned before, so I will not repeat it here.

In short, for Shirou Emiya, the combination of [high school life + magic training + helping others repair things] is his [normal world].

Sugiyama answered without thinking, "Excited, because this is his chance to prove himself. If he can save ordinary people caught in a war that endangers the lives of ordinary people, then he will be one step closer to being a partner of justice. Not to mention that this is a war that his idolized father once participated in."

"Yes." Nanaya nodded, "This is Shirou Emiya when the story just unfolds. Now you just need to try your best to act like this."

"Aren't you going to tell me the rest?" Sugiyama blinked.

What does this kind of "stay tuned for the next episode" feel like?

"With your current level, it's enough to play this stage well." Nanaya patted his arm, "Instead of worrying about the role change of Shirou Emiya in the future, you should think about how to play this middle school boy well now."

Through this explanation, Sugiyama felt that he had a deeper understanding of the character of Shirou Emiya.

This gave him a lot of confidence in his future performance work.

Nanaya threw away the branch, brushed off the sand on his hands, and said to Sugiyama, "Let's go have a midnight snack. Consider it my treat."

The two of them were eavesdropping on Rin and Nanaya's conversation, and they were so focused that they didn't even notice that the magazines in their hands were held upside down.

"Why would you go out for a midnight snack with a man? Why didn't you invite us to have a midnight snack? And you even invited Sasuke-kun!"

Rin looked at Sugiyama, who was very innocent behind Nanaya, with malicious eyes. Because of the relationship with a man named Ryougi, she began to be suspicious of Sugiyama.
