Moonborn: The Lost Legacy

Chapter 19: Awakening the Elements

The days of training passed, each session more grueling than the last. Yet, despite the relentless difficulty, Keld endured. His body adapted, his mind sharpened, and what once felt impossible became second nature. Day after day, he pushed past his limits, until he could complete the training with ease.

With only one week left until the entrance exam, Ryulune stood before Keld, arms crossed.

"Keld, you've done your best in training. You've surpassed my expectations." Ryulune's gaze was firm yet approving. "Now, there's only one thing left: learning how to use elements with vitra."

Keld wiped the sweat from his forehead, his breath steady. "Elements? How do I do that?"

"It's simple," Ryulune explained. "You just have to visualize the spell in your mind and use vitra to manifest it. Let's start with the basics—imagine fire in your hand and use your vitra to convert it."

Keld nodded. "Alright, I'll try."

Closing his eyes, he focused. He imagined the flickering flames, the heat radiating from them. He tried to feel the very essence of fire, letting it consume his thoughts. His breathing slowed as he reached deep within himself, calling upon the vitra flowing inside him.

Then, suddenly—

A bright flame ignited in his palm.

Ryulune smirked. "That's a good sta—" He froze mid-sentence.

The fire in Keld's hand doubled in size, shifting from a bright orange to an intense blue flame. The air around it crackled with sheer energy.

Ryulune's eyes widened in shock. "This kid… he's on another level…! Most professional magicians take years to produce blue flames, yet he's done it on his first try?!"

Keld's eyes snapped open, and he immediately panicked. "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!"

The moment he lost focus, the fire vanished into thin air.

His shock quickly turned into excitement. "Ryulune! How did I do?!"

Ryulune let out a deep breath before smirking. "You… are ridiculously good at magic. I was planning to go slow, but it looks like we'll have to change the plan. In just five days, you will master three elements."

Keld's jaw dropped. "THREE elements?! Isn't that too much? I thought mastering just one takes years!"

Ryulune smirked. "Not everyone is the Son of the Moon."

Keld sighed in disbelief. "Fine… What three elements am I learning?"

"Fire, Iron, and Light."

Keld raised an eyebrow. "Why these three?"

"Fire will allow you to deal brutal damage to enemies. Iron will let you forge weapons and shields in the heat of battle, giving you both offense and defense. And Light…" Ryulune paused, his voice turning serious. "Light is the most versatile of them all. It allows you to move faster, teleport instantly, heal others, and protect yourself. But Light is also the most difficult and complex element. If you fail to control it properly, you will die in seconds."

Keld clenched his fists. "I don't care. I'm ready."

"Good." Ryulune smirked. "Then let's begin."

Five intense days passed in the blink of an eye. Keld, through sheer determination and guidance from Ryulune, had mastered the three elements to a functional degree.

With only two days left before the entrance exam, Elowen and Cassian returned from their training as well. Both had mastered two elements—Elowen had honed Fire and Earth, while Cassian had mastered Ice and Water.

Excitement buzzed between them as they made their way to the Queen's hall to meet Seluna.

Upon entering, the grand chamber stretched before them, where Seluna sat gracefully on her throne. The trio immediately bowed out of respect.

Seluna raised her hand, and her maids silently exited the room. Only then did Keld straighten up, grinning.

"Seluna! How are you? Did you miss us?"

Elowen immediately smacked him on the back of the head. "Idiot! Don't call the Queen by her name! Bow properly!"

Keld rubbed his head, confused. "Why?"

Keld said, "Seluna told us we could call her by her name. And who bows before their friend?"

Elowen and Cassian exchanged glances before sighing. "He's still an idiot."

Seluna laughed heartily. "You're right. keld."

With a warm smile, she gestured to them. "Come, let's eat something and catch up."

The evening passed with food, laughter, and stories of their training. For the first time in weeks, the trio allowed themselves to relax. But as the night approached, Ryulune called them aside.

"You three have worked harder than anyone. Compared to the others, you've pushed yourselves to the absolute limit."

Keld grinned and held out his hand. "So… where's our reward?"

Ryulune smirked. "You'll get your reward after passing the entrance exam."

Keld groaned. "Of course there's a catch."

Ryulune crossed his arms. "Tomorrow, you three will leave for Nishapith Academy. Remember, no one must know about you."

Elowen, Cassian, and Keld all nodded in understanding.

As they left for their rooms, Ryulune stood outside the palace, gazing up at the night sky. A soft sigh escaped his lips.

"Time flies so fast when you're in good company…"
