Moonborn: The Lost Legacy

Chapter 17: Skating Through the Skies

As Ryulune led the trio down the grand corridors, the servants around them began to whisper among themselves.

"So, these are the special students?" one murmured.

"They look impressive, but… I can't sense any vitra from them." another remarked, tilting his head in curiosity.

"Could they really be special? They don't seem like nobles or warriors."

"Maybe they're hiding their power? After all, if the Queen personally selected them, they must be extraordinary."

The hushed conversations continued, but the trio paid them little mind as they finally arrived at a massive double door. Ryulune stepped forward and pushed it open, revealing a breathtaking sight.

"This is your room." Ryulune announced.

Keld, Elowen, and Cassian stood in stunned silence. Before them lay an enormous hall, illuminated by floating magical lights. Bookshelves lined the walls, filled with tomes of every kind. A grand seating area adorned with plush cushions sat in the center, and a variety of games were neatly placed on low tables. On the far side of the hall, three elegantly carved doors stood tall, each bearing one of their names in golden letters.

Keld blinked and turned to Ryulune. "Did you bring us to the wrong place?"

Ryulune chuckled. "No, this is your room. Each of those doors leads to your personal chambers. Enjoy it."

Before he could finish speaking, Keld and Elowen dropped their luggage and sprinted inside.

"This place is huge! We could even play football in here!" Keld shouted in excitement, spinning around to take in the full view.

Cassian sighed, rubbing his temples. "Please, for gods sake, do not."

Elowen ran her fingers over the bookshelves. "I might just spend all my time reading here. It's like a personal library!"

Keld flopped onto one of the oversized cushions. "And these seats are softer than my bed back home! I might never leave!"

Cassian smirked. "That might actually be an improvement. At least you won't be running around causing chaos."

Elowen grinned. "Don't be so serious, Cassian. Even you have to admit, this place is amazing!"

Cassian crossed his arms, feigning indifference. "It's… adequate."

Keld snickered. "That means he likes it."

Ryulune smiled as he watched their excitement. "Alright, take a seat wherever you like. Food will be arriving soon."

They quickly settled down, and soon after, a lavish feast was brought in. The trio enjoyed their meal, chatting and laughing as they indulged in the exquisite dishes. Once they had their fill, Ryulune leaned back in his chair.

"Now that you've eaten, you should get some rest. Tomorrow is an important day."

The trio nodded in agreement. "Goodnight, Ryulune." they said in unison before standing up to head to their rooms.

Just as they were about to leave, Ryulune called out, "Keld, wait. I need to speak with you."

Keld glanced at Elowen and Cassian. "Goodnight, guys. I'll catch up with you later."

As the other two left for their rooms, Keld turned to Ryulune, his face filled with curiosity and excitement. "What's up?"

Ryulune's expression turned serious. "There's something I need to tell you. First, Ankh knows you are special students from outside Lunara, but he does not know that you are the son of the Moon. Only the Queen, the principal of Nishapith Academy, and I are aware of your true identity."

Keld's smile faded slightly. "So… I shouldn't mention it to anyone else?"

Ryulune nodded. "Exactly. If anyone claims to know your identity, do not confirm or deny it. Trust only those I have mentioned."

Keld tilted his head. "Why don't the other Stars know about me? Aren't they important figures?"

Ryulune's gaze darkened. "You're right, they are important. But there is a possibility that one of them is a spy who revealed your birthplace in the past. We cannot let history repeat itself."

Keld clenched his fists. "I understand."

Ryulune placed a hand on Keld's shoulder. "Good. Now, get some rest."

Keld took a step toward his room, then paused. He turned back to Ryulune with a small smile. "Thanks for everything, Ryulune. You're the best."

Ryulune's eyes softened as he watched Keld leave. "You're just like him…" he murmured, his voice tinged with sadness.

As Keld entered his room, he flopped onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. His mind swirled with thoughts about what Ryulune had just told him. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes.

Tomorrow would be a new day, and with it, the start of an even greater journey.

The next morning, Keld woke up to the sound of knocking. He groggily opened the door to find Elowen and Cassian standing there, fully dressed and ready.

"Finally, you wake up, idiot!" Elowen huffed. "Do you have any idea how many times we called your name? You sleep like a giant!"

Keld rubbed his eyes and yawned. "Maybe because I was actually sleeping?"

Cassian smirked. "Or maybe because you're part bear and just hibernate all the time."

Elowen crossed her arms. "Come on, get ready already. Ryulune is coming to take us somewhere."

Keld stretched and walked back inside. "Fine, fine. Give me a minute."

After some time, Keld stepped out in fresh clothes. "Alright, I'm ready."

Elowen grinned. "Oh wow, I was starting to think you got lost in your own room."

Cassian smirked. "Took him long enough. Maybe he was having a battle with his hair? And lost?"

Elowen laughed. "Or maybe he was just admiring himself in the mirror, thinking he's the next great hero!"

Keld rolled his eyes. "You guys are the worst."

Just then, Ryulune entered the hall. "Good morning, everyone."

"Good morning, Ryulune!" the trio responded in unison.

Ryulune gestured toward the entrance. "If you're all ready, follow me."

The trio followed him outside the palace. As they stepped out, their eyes widened in amazement.

Lunara stretched out before them, a breathtaking city bathed in silver light. The streets shimmered as moonstone lanterns lined the paths. People bustled about, some dressed in flowing robes while others wore enchanted armor, working and chatting cheerfully. Above them, friendly monsters with glowing wings soared through the sky, adding to the mystic beauty.

A soft flutter caught Keld's attention. A bird with moon-patterned wings glided down gracefully and landed on his arm, its feathers glowing faintly under the morning sun.

Keld smiled. "This place… it's amazing."

Elowen and Cassian nodded in awe. "What a beautiful city."

Ryulune smiled. "I'm glad you like our city. Now, let's go. I'll show you around."

He led them to an open ground, then raised his hand. A swirling portal appeared, and suddenly, three floating boards materialized in front of them.

Keld, Elowen, and Cassian stared in shock.

"What is this? It's floating!" Elowen exclaimed.

Keld reached out hesitantly. "Can I touch it?"

"Yes, it's for you three," Ryulune nodded.

Keld placed his hand on the board, watching in amazement as it hovered in midair. Elowen and Cassian were equally stunned.

"What kind of technology is this?" Cassian asked.

Ryulune chuckled. "These are floating skateboards. You can use them to fly."

He gestured toward the city. "I know Lunara might seem like an ancient kingdom with no big buildings, but that's because we don't rely entirely on technology. We use vitra alongside it. There is one city dedicated to industry where these things are made, but here in the capital, people use them for travel. It also helps control pollution. There are many other things, but I'll explain them some other time. For now, why don't you three try riding?"

Keld hesitated. "But how? There's nothing to control."

"Just stand on it," Ryulune instructed.

The trio stepped onto their boards. The moment they did, their legs were firmly attached to the surface. Their expressions were filled with excitement.

Elowen blinked. "Now what? How do we control it?"

"Use your mind," Ryulune said. "Just imagine where you want to go. But don't go too high until you get used to it."

Elowen grinned. "I'll go first!"

She focused, thinking about moving forward. The board responded instantly, gliding through the air.

"I did it!" she cheered.

"Don't lose focus!" Ryulune warned.

But the moment Elowen got too excited, she lost control and tumbled to the ground.

Keld and Cassian burst into laughter.

Cassian smirked. "Now my turn!"

He stepped forward, concentrated… and promptly crashed into a tree.

Keld was laughing so hard he had tears in his eyes. "You guys are hopeless!"

With a smirk, he got on his board and took off—only to smack straight into a wall.

Ryulune sighed, shaking his head. "Let's try again."

After a few more attempts, the trio finally got the hang of it. They soared through the sky, their laughter echoing through the air.

"This is incredible!" Keld shouted. "I'm actually flying!"

"I feel so free! This is amazing!" Elowen beamed.

"Who knew something so advanced could be so easy to use?" Cassian grinned.

"I wish I had one of these back home!" Keld laughed.

"Look at the view from up here! It's breathtaking!" Elowen said in awe.

"I could do this all day!" Cassian smirked.

"Now this is what I call real magic!" Keld cheered.

As they enjoyed their flight, a familiar voice spoke beside Ryulune.

"They seem to be having fun."

Ryulune turned to see the Queen standing beside him. He smiled. "They're fast learners."
