Marvel : Copycat System

Chapter 33: Tony is in Trouble

--

"Yes, Master, please speak!"

Kai stood in the warehouse and said, "I want you to modify and upgrade something — ideally, to achieve even better results."

As he spoke, Kai retrieved a copied Mark II suit from his system space, placing it in front of Gear.

"I want you to build on this design. Use the Mark II as your foundation, but aim to create something like an Autobot — a Transformer that can change forms and be fully remote-controlled."

Gear fell silent, processing the ambitious request.

"Of course," Kai added, "I'm not expecting an exact replica. I know it's difficult. But New York won't be peaceful in the future, and I need something that can at least protect my family."

After a brief pause, Gear responded, "Understood, Master. I'll do my best."

"I know it's a big ask, so no rush," Kai reassured him. "The main goal is remote control capability and basic combat skills to protect my family if needed. This won't be urgent, so take your time and improve it step by step."

Kai knew his vision required something like the AllSpark to create true Cybertronian life. Without that, he'd settle for a large, powerful robot capable of protecting his home.

After handing the project over to Gear, Kai shifted focus to organizing the warehouse space. He planned to build a sizable basement — something large enough for Gear's workshop and future projects.

Since the warehouse was in the suburbs, Kai and Gear worked together to dig out the basement. Rather than hiring contractors — which could draw unwanted attention — Kai relied on himself. Using magic, he reinforced the walls and strengthened the warehouse's structure. Once the space was stable, Kai handled the simple décor, while Gear ordered machinery and tools online.

By the end of the day, Kai was exhausted — but excited. He now had his own secret base, complete with a teleportation entry point to maintain its low-profile appearance. From the outside, the warehouse still looked worn-down and unimpressive — perfect for avoiding unwanted eyes.

Just as Kai returned home to rest, his phone rang. It was Pepper.

**Two Hours Earlier — Stark Industries**

Obadiah sat in a meeting room, frustration boiling inside him.

Despite gathering his engineers, they couldn't recreate Tony's arc reactor.

"I'm sorry, sir," one of them said. "I'm not Tony Stark. I can't build a mini-reactor in a cave with a box of scraps!"

Obadiah clenched his fists. Without the arc reactor, his recovered Mark I armor was useless. Desperate, he decided on a new plan.

Meanwhile, Pepper received a request from Coulson, who was waiting downstairs at Stark Industries. He claimed to have questions about Tony.

After thinking it over, Pepper decided to meet him. She planned to tell Coulson everything — about Obadiah's illegal arms dealings, his collaboration with terrorists, and his attempt to have Tony kidnapped.

During their meeting, Pepper didn't even wait for Coulson to ask questions. She laid everything out.

Coulson smiled slightly.

"Thank you, Ms. Potts," he said. "This matches what we've been tracking. Please stay calm — I'll report this to Director Fury. We'll take action once we have approval."

Pepper nodded in agreement.

Coulson stepped aside to make his call.

"Sir," Coulson reported, "this could be our chance to gain Tony Stark's trust."

Nick Fury considered the suggestion, then gave his approval.

Coulson called in additional agents, prepared to help Pepper confront Obadiah.

**Meanwhile — Tony's Villa**

Tony had just finished working in his lab. Emerging from the basement, he noticed Pepper wasn't home.

His phone buzzed — Pepper's name flashed on the screen. As Tony reached for it, he suddenly froze, unable to move.

"Tony? Hello?" Pepper's voice came from the phone, but Tony couldn't answer.

A cold hand reached over Tony's shoulder — it was Obadiah. He held a small, high-tech device against Tony's neck, the same sonic paralyzer he'd once used on the terrorist leader.

"Relax, Tony. Just breathe... nice and easy," Obadiah said with a twisted smile.

Tony's face contorted in pain as veins bulged and his eyes reddened.

Obadiah dangled the device in front of Tony's face.

"Remember this?" he smirked. "The government never approved this thing... but you know what? It's 'very' effective."

Obadiah strolled around the room, calm and collected. He knelt in front of Tony and grabbed his chin.

"When I ordered those guys to take you out, I had my doubts," he sneered. "But you managed to survive."

Reaching for a mechanical claw nearby, Obadiah pressed it firmly against Tony's chest. The claw latched onto Tony's arc reactor.

"You're the golden goose, Tony... but, well, fate had other plans."

With a hard tug, Obadiah yanked the arc reactor free. Tony's face twisted in agony, his skin turning pale.

"This is your final masterpiece," Obadiah said smugly, holding the glowing reactor up like a trophy. "The key to a whole new generation of weapons. With this, we'll control everything."

He turned to leave but paused.

"You know... your father helped me build the atomic bomb. If he'd been as selfish as you, what kind of world would we be living in?"

With that, Obadiah stowed the reactor in his case and left Tony slumped on the couch, bleeding from his ears and barely clinging to consciousness.
