Chapter 23: Saving Tony and Yinsen(2)

---

On the other side, after discovering that Yinsen was missing, the terrorist leader didn't bother searching for him. Instead, he rushed straight to the deepest part of the cave.

After all, Tony Stark was the real prize. As long as he still had Tony, he could still demand the weapons and funds he wanted. So, he gathered a large group of his men and headed straight for Tony's location.

By this time, Tony's armor program had finished loading, thanks to Yinsen's brave distraction.

When the terrorist leader reached Tony's cave, Tony was already stepping out in his armor, and they crossed paths in the corridor.

Seeing the terrorists, Tony's mind flashed back to his kidnapping — and to Yinsen's sacrifice. Tony hadn't heard anything from Yinsen and assumed he'd been killed. With anger and grief boiling inside him, Tony's eyes hardened, and he charged forward.

Boom! Boom!

Tony knocked down two men with powerful punches, and bullets from the remaining terrorists bounced harmlessly off his armor. The attackers could do nothing but retreat step by step as Tony advanced.

Realizing they couldn't keep falling back or Tony would escape, the terrorist leader grabbed an RPG and fired. Tony spotted him just in time and launched a bomb of his own.

Boom! Boom!

Both explosions rocked the cave. Tony managed to dodge the blast, but the terrorist leader wasn't so lucky. Although not directly hit, the force of Tony's explosion sent him sprawling to the ground, his condition unclear.

Tony continued forward, stepping out of the cave to find a swarm of terrorists waiting for him. The moment they saw him, they unleashed a barrage of gunfire, even bringing out heavy machine guns.

Seeing this, Tony activated the flamethrowers on his arms, blasting flames at the attackers. The front line of terrorists fell quickly, but more emerged behind them, pinning Tony down with relentless firepower.

Despite his armor, Tony couldn't push forward and was forced to hold his position.

At that moment, Kai Vale teleported in and saw Tony pinned down. Realizing he'd arrived just in time, Kai stepped beside Tony and activated his space power. With a flick of his hand, he opened a pair of space gates — one in front of Tony and one positioned to redirect the incoming bullets back at the terrorists.

The gunfire stopped abruptly, followed by the sounds of bodies dropping to the ground.

Tony stood there in shock, staring at the man who had suddenly appeared and wiped out all the terrorists in an instant.

"You... you're Kai? The grandson of the restaurant owner?"

Tony recognized Kai from the restaurant back in New York.

Still circling Tony — or rather, eyeing the armor — Kai responded with a grin.

"Surprise, Tony! Yep, it's me."

Tony blinked in disbelief, still processing what had just happened.

"Wait... is it really you? How did you take them all out? And how did you get here? Do you have... powers?"

Facing a familiar face after so much stress, Tony rattled off questions without pause, unloading his tension.

"I'm here to save you, of course. Why else would I be wandering the desert for half a month?" Kai said. "As for how I stopped them?" He gestured toward the fallen terrorists. "Space manipulation. Didn't you notice the portals I opened?"

"Well... my attention was kind of focused on the guys with guns," Tony admitted sheepishly.

Kai chuckled and gestured to Tony's suit.

"Now that the danger's gone, are you planning to stay in that armor? By the way... did you 'make' this?"

Kai tapped twice on Tony's chest plate, impressed.

'Incredible,' Kai thought. 'Even trapped in a cave with scraps, Tony managed to build this. He really is a genius.'

"Of course I made it! Look, even bullets couldn't get through," Tony said proudly.

"But I'm not done yet," Tony added. "I'm going to destroy all these weapons. I can't let them stay here."

"Sure, go for it. Don't worry about me."

With that, Kai teleported to a safe distance and waved.

Tony, seeing Kai had moved far away, aimed a bomb at the pile of weapons and fired.

Boom!

The explosion consumed the entire arsenal.

Tony quickly activated his suit's jet system and blasted off into the sky.

Kai, watching from a distance, teleported closer to follow. Sure enough, as Tony reached the highest point, the jet system sputtered and failed. Tony flailed helplessly as he plummeted back to earth.

Kai calmly opened a space portal beneath Tony, connecting it to another portal near him.

Tony tumbled into the first portal and shot out of the second, flipping through the air before landing roughly on the ground.

Dazed, Tony lay there for a moment, piecing together what had just happened.

"Wow... that's 'cool!'" Tony finally blurted. "Kai, are you using space folding? Is that your ability?"

Grinning at Tony's excitement, Kai just nodded.
