Chapter 1270: First Investment
Dong Li hid the money in his clothes before heading to the kitchen. Seeing the things his mother had prepared, he smiled and said, "Mother, if you ever want to send something to my grandparents, just let me know."
"There is no need to trouble you. Your father sends them some supplies once a month," Lu Jueyu replied with a smile.
Dong Li nodded, hoisted the bamboo basket onto his back, and said, "Mother, I have my keys, so you don't have to wait up for me."
"Alright. Be careful on the road, and take your flashlight," Lu Jueyu reminded him.
"Got it."
After he left, Lu Jueyu locked the doors before she and her husband went to their bedroom. Once inside, they locked their bedroom door and entered her space.
As for Dong Li, he rode his father's bicycle. With the bicycle's light, he didn't need to use his flashlight.
Ten minutes later, he arrived at the Lu family's house. He pushed open the gate, entered the yard, and parked his bicycle outside Lu Han's house.
Seeing that the lights in his grandparents' house were already off, he didn't knock and instead went straight to his uncle's house.
He knocked on the door while saying, "Eldest uncle, it's me, Dong Li."
Before long, the door opened.
Chen Anwen was taken aback to see him and asked, "Ah Li, what brings you here so late? Did something happen at home?"
"Eldest Aunt, I came to visit my uncle and bring something from my parents. My mother said these are for my grandparents and uncles," Dong Li replied.
Hearing this, Chen Anwen gestured for him to come in and said, "Your mother keeps sending things home. Just keep them for your family—we still have enough."
"Eldest Aunt, this is my parents' filial piety to my grandparents. Please don't refuse."
Chen Anwen looked at her nephew and sighed helplessly, "You, ah… Auntie can never win against you."
After placing the bamboo basket down, Dong Li asked, "Eldest Aunt, is my uncle home?"
"He is taking a bath. He should be done soon," Chen Anwen replied while pouring him a cup of warm tea.
"Eldest Aunt, I will wait for my uncle. You should go rest—don't worry about me."
Knowing that the boy must have something to discuss with her husband, Chen Anwen nodded and said, "Just treat this place like home. No need to be so polite."
After saying that, she went to her bedroom to coax her son to sleep.
Sitting in the living room, Dong Li sipped his tea while looking around. The house was smaller than his parents' but larger than the villagers' homes.
The living room, about 15 square meters, had a table and several chairs. Two cabinets lined the wall, used for storing miscellaneous items.
To the left of the living room were two bedrooms—likely Lu Han's and the children's. On the right, there were two more rooms, though Dong Li wasn't sure if they were guest rooms or served another purpose.
As he finished half his tea, he saw his uncle return with damp hair. Standing up, he greeted him, "Eldest Uncle."
Lu Han smiled upon seeing his nephew and asked, "Ah Li, have you been waiting long?"
Dong Li shook his head and replied, "No, I just arrived."
Closing the door, Lu Han walked to the room on the right and said, "Come in, let's talk inside."
Dong Li followed him in and noticed the Kang bed covered with books and boxes, realizing his uncle must often use this room as a workspace.
After closing the door, Lu Han said, "Take a seat."
Then, he retrieved a book hidden under the desk and said, "This is the account book. Go through the monthly revenue before making your decision."
Dong Li reached out, opened the book, and carefully read through it. Besides his school curriculum, his father had been teaching him how to do business and read financial records.
His decision to invest wasn't impulsive—it was an idea his father had suggested and encouraged him to try.

The reason he felt confident was that his father stood behind him, giving him the courage to take risks. Even if he failed, he knew his father would always be there to support him.
What's more, the business he invested in was his uncle's business. Therefore, the risk of being scammed is almost zero.
After reviewing the account book, he closed it and took out a thick envelope from his clothes. Placing it on the Kang bed, he said, "Eldest Uncle, here is 300,000 yuan. I'm investing 250,000, and Jianmin is investing 50,000."
Lu Han's eyes widened in surprise when he heard this and asked, "Ah Li, where did you get so much money?"
"I earned it by selling mountain products. I found Lingzhi and ginseng before, and both sold for a high price," Dong Li explained briefly.
Lu Han frowned at his words and said, "Ah Li, the mountains are dangerous. You shouldn't go there too often."
"Eldest Uncle, I know the risks, but I go with my father, so I will be fine."
Lu Han sighed when he heard this and said, "You and your father are really bold. What if something happened to you both? Your mother and sister would be devastated."
Dong Li smiled and replied confidently, "Eldest Uncle, I will take good care of myself."
Seeing his nephew's stubbornness, Lu Han stopped lecturing him and said, "Alright, I will write up the agreement. Give me a moment."
Taking out paper and a pen, Lu Han said, "Ah Li, you will receive 25% of the shares, and Jianmin will get 5%. You will receive your dividend once a year. Half of the net profit will be distributed, and the rest will be used to expand the business."
"Okay," Dong Li nodded.
He understood that reinvesting in the business was necessary for growth, so he had no objections to Lu Han's approach.
After writing for a while, Lu Han signed the agreement and pressed his thumbprint on the paper. Handing it to Dong Li, he said, "If you don't have any problem with the agreement, you can stamp your thumbprint."
