Luffy Twin Brother: The Monkey King

Chapter 35: chapter 35

Time slipped by, and before he knew it, the next day had arrived. Meanwhile, Luffy and his crew had already reached the island Kong was still trying to navigate. And they had already stumbled upon something shocking.

Four hundred years ago, Sky Island was limited to Angel Island, an isolated land with little connection to the Blue Sea below. That changed when the knock-up stream unexpectedly launched an entire island into the sky—an island that would later become the subject of Noland's tale.

As it turned out, Noland had been telling the truth all along. The legendary city of gold didn't sink beneath the waves—it was sent soaring into the sky. Unfortunately for its native inhabitants, their discovery quickly became their downfall. The people of Sky Island, viewing the newly arrived land as a divine treasure, forcefully claimed it as their own, driving the original residents away.

The battle for Sky Island had raged for years between the natives and the island's inhabitants, but everything changed when Enel took over. His overwhelming power forced the natives into hiding while he ruled Skypiea as its self-proclaimed, all-knowing god.

For the Straw Hats, the mission was clear—knock Enel off his throne. He was arrogant, cruel, and, most importantly, in their way. So, when morning came, they wasted no time setting off.

However, their plans quickly shifted when they found themselves caught in Enel's twisted survival game—a battle royale that included everyone on the island: the natives, the Straw Hats, and even Kong, who had finally managed to set foot on the island at last.

"Stupid island and its stupid, hard-to-find locations," Kong grumbled, his eyes bloodshot after spending over nine hours using Mantra at full capacity to navigate. At this point, he wasn't even sure if his Mantra had improved or if he had just strained himself to the point of exhaustion. His senses were dull, and his Mantra felt even weaker than when he first unlocked it.

"I want to sleep… but I'm a man of my word," Kong muttered, shaking off the drowsiness before charging forward—only to find himself back in the exact same spot a few minutes later.

"Swear I'm getting some déjà vu right now… was I just here?" Kong muttered, rubbing his chin as he scanned his surroundings. The landscape looked eerily familiar, making him pause in thought. After a moment, he shook his head. Clearly, this island was strange, but as long as he kept moving forward, he'd eventually cross this endless white sea of clouds and reach the other side.

Just as he was about to take another step, the unmistakable laughter of South Birds rang out. His eyes flicked toward a cluster of them perched in a nearby tree, their beady eyes locked onto him as they cackled in amusement. Feathers ruffled as they squawked between bouts of laughter, almost as if they were watching a performance.

Kong's expression darkened, realizing he was lost and these stupid birds were laughing at him.

"Don't laugh, you stupid birds!" Kong shouted, hurling a rock at one of them. The flock erupted in panicked squawks, flapping wildly as they scattered into the air.

Not wasting a second, Kong leaped after one of the fleeing birds, snatching its leg mid-flight. The South Bird flailed, its wings beating furiously, but Kong's grip was unrelenting.

"Don't get us lost, or I'll crush this leg of yours," Kong warned, tightening his hold just enough to make his point clear.

Cold sweat dripped from the bird's head as it trembled. Deep down, it cursed its rotten luck. How dare this clueless human tell it not to get lost when he was clearly the one with no sense of direction?

"Looks like I missed the war," Kong muttered, his sharp eyes scanning the forest below. The island's terrain caught his attention—it had the unmistakable feel of something that belonged to the Blue Sea, which made sense considering how the knock-up stream worked.

Below, he spotted the scattered bodies of both the Skypieans and the island's natives, motionless on the forest floor. Whether they were dead or simply unconscious, he didn't care enough to check. His focus remained on his real target.

A sudden explosion of lightning above a massive vine drew his attention, illuminating the sky in a blinding flash. Chunks of floating land crumbled and plummeted toward the ground below.

"Take me there," Kong said lightly, and the South Bird, driven by fear, obeyed without hesitation. As they flew, Kong activated his Mantra, though the strain of prolonged use made it difficult. Still, he had trained himself to pick up even the faintest sounds through it.

Meanwhile, on the massive vine, Enel stood before Wyper, Zoro, Robin, and an elderly man—the former god of Skypiea. Nami hid behind a rock, frozen in fear after witnessing Enel's overwhelming power, which truly seemed god-like.

"Seven people… this can't be. The foresight of god can't be wrong… but give it a second, the last one is coming," Enel muttered, annoyance flickering across his face as he counted the figures before him, including himself.

His gaze shifted, locking onto Kong. He had been aware of him all along, sensing his presence through Mantra—after all, what kind of god would he be if he hadn't?

Without sparing another thought, Enel lazily raised his palm. A bolt of lightning tore through the sky, striking the massive snake that had been irritating him.

"What exactly are you planning with all of this? I saw what you did to the sacred temple above—why would you destroy your own followers?" Gan Fall, the former god of Skypiea, demanded, his voice laced with anger.

Enel merely grinned. "Because there is somewhere I must return to. There is a place for land, a place for mortals… and a place for gods. Everything belongs where it is meant to be."

Gan Fall's pupils shrank as the weight of Enel's words settled in. He finally understood what Enel was aiming for.

"That's right! Humans have no place in the sky, so I'm sending everything back down to the ground!" Enel declared with a laugh, his voice filled with unwavering arrogance.

Kong, listening in from a distance, raised an eyebrow. This guy's got one hell of an ego… I'm gonna have to humble the hell out of him when I get there, he thought.

Meanwhile, Gan Fall, unwilling to accept such madness, reminded Enel that he too was human. A grave mistake. In the very next instant, Enel struck, and Gan Fall was hit with lightning that knocked him out.

"With that, we're down to six… just one more. The lucky five will be coming with me to Endless Vearth," Enel said, laughing in delight.

"And if we refuse?" Robin asked, her voice calm but firm.

Enel paused, momentarily confused. "Refuse?" The thought genuinely didn't seem to register with him.

"No one agreed to go with you," Robin continued. "We all want you gone."

The others voiced their agreement, standing their ground. For a moment, Enel simply stared at them, as if the very idea of rejection was incomprehensible. Then, with a sigh, he shook his head.

"What a shame," he mused. "Then it looks like you all have to die here."

Without hesitation, he raised his hand, and a bolt of lightning shot toward Robin. She barely had time to react before pain wracked her body, a sharp cry escaping her lips before she collapsed unconscious.

"Robin!" Zoro rushed to her side, fury burning in his eyes. Without a second thought, he charged Enel, his swords cutting through the air in a blur.

But it was useless.

Enel was a Logia user—his body became lightning itself. Physical attacks passed straight through him, leaving him completely unharmed.

Boom.

Black lightning crackled through the sky, swallowing all color for a split second. Enel's face distorted under the force of the Conqueror's Haki-infused punch before he was blasted away like a cannonball, crashing violently into the massive veins of the island.

"He's too much for you guys to handle just yet," Kong said coldly, his gaze locked on the impact site. "I'll take care of him."

In the crater, Enel lay motionless, his eyes wide in disbelief. His mind scrambled to process what had just happened. He was supposed to be untouchable—invincible. Yet, in an instant, Kong had shattered that illusion.
